  1. Central should beat the brakes off Nederland, no disrespect to the Dogs or their fans, but Central is too talented.
They just can't shoot the ball. If Nederland plays Central man like they did Ozen it should be light out. No rebounds, fastbreaking, pressing, 30 point win. Quit handcuffing all those athletes @ Central. Good luck Dogs you always have
a shot, because your Coach is outstanding & players are solid and give it their all. A joy to see the Dogs play
  2. Forgive me for getting in on the recruiting topic late, but i must say when all was good in Beaumont (winning district titles between Central & Ozen) no complaints, but now other schools are developing programs, i hear recruiting statements. Guys, kids have been shuffling through different schools for years either by the parents, Coaches, friends etc. Dont quite know how that works these days, but back at the Bee Hive, we could care less if a player left because we had plenty of guys to fill in. I guess being perennial State Champs keeps the poachers at bay LOL
I guess i'm trying to say let's quit crying and play ball. You guys sound like that no good Lane Kiffin who does things, but when others do it to him he cries foul.  I'll say again, Nederland has no business competing with the likes of Central & Ozen every year, but Kudos to those kids for showing how fundamentals are forever, being athletic is temporary.  Oh and by the way, where were all of the Panther fans on Senior night?? Central, I was @ senior night when Gully played and it was awful also. I see Nederland fans.  Let's show support to the kids whatever the teams records are.

  3. First, I want to say I'm not new to the site, just new to posting on the forum. Hope I don't offend anyone. Central's center should dominate Weisbrod everytime. Too long & athletic, not knocking Weisbrod cuz he's a Coaches dream. That kid plays with his heart & soul, sacrifices his body. If better talent throughout the district played as hard, many Colleges would be calling(not saying any names). For Nederland to even be mentioned for a Championship in basketball is a Credit to the Coach. English gets every ounce of talent & skill out of his players. Central & Ozen are both very talented & athletic. Nederland guys are very fundamental & disciplined. Call me crazy but I'll take latter of the two cuz the last I checked, this not very athletic team has been winning district. Sort of like Cinderella @ March Madness. So to answer the question of which team wins, I say central, but 20 years ago when I Played @ the Bee Hive I wouldn't entertain such ridiculous questions, but nowadays I must answer so I think central wins. Give English a couple of these athletes..... I'll let the Dogs fans tell you guys how he would do. Thanks for the forum to freely agree to disagree.

  4. NDN 1989 Thanks for the shout-outs Lol. Didn't think anyone remembered me on the beehive teams. I wasn't Anthony Allen or Brian Sallier, but I think I had a solid career. I loved the days of the Bee Hive. I had the honor of playing the top of the press, how many starting centers today can say that. Chasing Central's Perry Hill was no picnic.  IMO no disrespect to the athletes today cuz Lord knows they are bigger faster & stronger, but the thing most of these kids lack is School Pride. Programs today have no tradition. No legacy to follow. In a 20 year span the Mighty Bumblebees averaged going to State every 2 yrs. A feat that may have not been duplicated by a boys team since. That's tradition. we went to state from 88-90, winning 3 titles. The freshman went 4 yrs in a row; need I say Tradition? So, when I hear the talk of basketball on here I sigh because most will never understand. Coach Gamble developed a program and under that blueprint, 2 other Coaches came & used his players & won Championships. To their credit they learned the ways of the Jedi Master & continued to hone their skills & developed their own programs. To me, all things go back to the best Coach I've ever known, Coach James Gamble. Kudos to Coach Boutte, he listened to his mentors, humbled himself & reaped the benefits of being a good pupil, waited his turn & put his own stamp on developing a program. Something the guys today are trying to do, just may take more time for those guys. Good luck to them. By the way, don't want to her that the talent is split between schools cuz we had that problem with 3 schools also 1 5A & 2 4A's.
