  1. Wow, just joining the conversation. Elam can really play, getting an extra year to play for whatever the reason is Great. We all wish we could get another opportunity to play. I'm in my 40's, if the UIL gave me another shot I'm Ballin' on your kid ;D ;D Good Luck & God Bless Chris.  Remember he is still a kid & is someone's child
  2. JMO, I believe we as parents give "said" Coaches /AD  too much authority.  Unless these idiots have $$$$ thousands of dollars to back up those demands and start paying for kids' tuition, I don't think you should tell my kid what he/she can play. Correct me if i'm wrong, but this particular kid finished the season & honored the commitment, then switched sports in off season & decided to come back correct? I don't see the problem. Please don't allow these people to ruin your kids sports experience. Once it's over; it's OVER. So allow the kids to play as many sports as his/her schedule & endurance will allow.  JMO >:( >:( >:( Stand for something or Fall for anything
  3. I believe both programs will reach their potential through the growing pains. Experience is the best teacher. Although I still believe too many of the kids spend way too much time on the summer circrcuit & not enough time working on their weaknesses. The 3 point shot is the worst shot in basketball, but if you venture out to your pee wee league games 7-10 yr olds jack 'em up like layups. The laws of basketball says even your greatest hall of famers will only shoot 50% from the field (that was back in the day) and even less from 3 pt area.  In today's basketball the 2pt & 3 pt are separated to give an illusion these guys can shoot.  My advice to any kid with dreams of playing ball beyond High School is to play hard nosed defense & hustle. Those 2 qualities will have you on any roster and many times guarantee you a starting role. Take the road least traveled, everyone wants to score, no one wants to DEFEND. The latter wins Championships (Not talking about District Champ) in Bumblebee land those don't count. So to wrap this up I will say to our Beaumont Ballers, Defend the perimeter & Defend the paint and you may have a chance to play in March. That is what you are playing for right???  If your Goal is to finally Win the outright District Championship you have already LOST Mighty Bumblebees
  4. Yeeeaahhhh!!!!! I pray the kids & respective coaching staffs are as fired up as these boards are. Good luck to all area programs, take nothing personal it's all in good fun, but Most of all I Pray God covers all programs with the Blood of Jesus. Take care everyone & I hope you win every game except the game VS OZEN  LOL  ;D ;D Go Panthers!!!
  5. Totally understand Coach, we can agree 2 disagree Lol.  I really believe Central & Ozen can take claim to the District Title.  The reign is over for mid county. They had a nice run, but it's time to bring it back where we all know it belongs, Beaumont.  Jmo ;)
  6. Soulja, in no way was I questioning the Coaches credibility. Was responding to blogger "Coach" that posted last yrs records. JMO, I think 1 - 3 in district is a toss up. Central & Ozen no doubt has talent. There is no reason for either school to miss playoffs with 4 teams going. Yeah I said it, no EXCUSE to be absent from post season. We should be one of the 4 every year with the talent we have. Other 2 spots the rest of the District can fight for that. It can be done. We did it @ Lincoln in Basketball forever. It takes belief & a Coach that knows & cares about their players. I can hear the naysayers now. "Non Believers" Losers Mentality. Hopefully MaGee & Foreman have a winners mentality that rubs off on their programs. It starts at the top. Mighty Bumblebees
  7. thanks for the stats "Coach". So if we are going off those standings, Central, Png, are on the outside looking in. So my question is, how can bloggers keep placing Ozen out of playoffs & Central going 9-1?? LOL Again thanks "Coach"  :P Go Panthers!!!!
  8. I've said it once & I'll say it again to Jags fans. You have the WOS Coach, unless you snuck in a few quality players also the score will be about the same as last year. To the rest of 20 4A, I still don't understand how most bloggers have Ozen @ the bottom battling for last playoff spot.  1 - 3 in District will be a toss up. If it comes down to the last game of the Season, we will have a 3 Teams share the Title.  I have no idea why PNG is in the equation. Go Panthers!!!!
  9. Wow, growing up in PA I never really understood or appreciated the rivalry between Ned & PNG. We had our own little Feud/rivalry with TJ going. I think it's Great for the Communities as long as it's good clean fun. The one thing I regret is taking it too seriously & not bonding with rivals until way past our playing days. Enjoy it while you can because before you know it, time will have passed you by & when you run acroos your rival years later, you may wish you had made friends or at least been cordial. I run into guys from TJ & we laugh at how immature we acted as kids & wished we had formed the friendships way back in the day. Ive never attended a Mid County Madness Showdown, but look forward to making it to one eventually. Good Luck to both Teams P.S I hope you win every game except the game against Ozen  LOL  ;) ;D 8) Go Panthers!!!!
  10. yeoj, I really appreciate your insight. Being from PA, it's hard to really connect to the School spirit here in Beaumont, but i'm adjusting. (Bleed Purple & Gold). I've seen a lot of really good athletes in my time, but i haven't witnessed a hunger & desire like Rodney has. I'm sure all the good players possess this, i'm just saying i'm seeing it for myself. He really has something special you can't teach. If he works harder in the classroom, sky is the limit for Rodney. Very proud of him for the work & progress he has made. 20 4A will be in for a pleasant surprise. Very proud Papa, Feeling Panther Pride Go Panthers!!!
  11. Ozen contends for DC. Doesn't means they win it, but it will be Closer than most think. Not much difference between the 1-3 finishers in District this year. JMO Go Panthers
  12. I don't know if Ozen's Coach will have the best year, but they will be in the top 3 in the district. Also, Ozen has the best RB in the district Rodney Randle Jr. I know first hand. IMO of course Lol
  13. Randle Jr. Looked good for the very few carries he had. Jacoby's leadership last year will really help him next year. He will be a force @ the RB position, that's what we train for. I sort of have the inside info (wink wink) Ozen finishes in the top 2 in district.  Go Panthers!!! Mighty Bumblebees
  14. Big Ned really does have good players Show. I have battled against those guys for 6 yrs, won a few & lost a few. Very good group of kids, really good to see them develop as players & young men.
  15. Nederland played well, that group of kids as well as other kids from other programs (school teams) have an advantage over upstart programs with kids thay just started playing together. Not taking anything away from any of those School Teams, but let's state the obvious before we start applauding. I love the fact that those kids would rather play together instead of everyone choosing to run and load up a Houston Team. With that being said, let's judge these Teams for what they are. They should win most of their summer games if they have been playing together since they were 8-9 yrs old. Mighty Bumblebees
  16. Dove did you get a chance to see us play last weekend? We took your advice and stayed in the lab. We are getting better, kids are starting to believe. We play Varsity level to get " schooled." I firmly believe if you take kids out of their comfort zone, soon they begin to realize they are capable to do anything if they want it bad enough. So we're not afraid to be taken out to the wood shed, we won't duck competition. By the end of this Summer everyone will know who the Beaumont Trail Blazers are. The already know the crazy Coach Lol. We will no longer be laughed at. I take the kids nobody wants and develop young men. It has taken a few years, but now  we can get a little respect. I will say that we have the best gear hands down. We look like a sponsored Team Lol. Staying in the lab Mighty Bumblebees Mighty Bumblebees
  17. HJ always puts on a great tournament. Beaumont Trail Blazers played both HJ & Kountze very well. Had a chance to win both games. The big guard for HJ is the truth, the kid scores at will. Kountze is a very balanced & athletic Team. We really enjoyed the competition. Good luck to both programs. Mighty Bumblebees
  18. IMO, there are 2 ways to do it; the right way & the wrong way. If the Coach is only interested in winning games, then he keeps said player on Varsity getting scarce minutes. If he's developing a program he allows said player to play in scrimmages, 1 or 2 Tournaments with Varsity to learn the speed & physicality on the Varsity, then allow said player to go down to the (Frosh) team if that's their grade or (JV) level to dominate & build confidence (SWAG). Also, find said player a good Mentor on the upper level  & sit back & watch said player blossom before your very eyes. Now this isn't the only way, but it's the way I was brought up through the ranks in Bumblebee land. Although we didn't win every game, we did go to STATE 4 yrs in a row  & win 3 of the four all with 3 different Coaches. So with that being said, Coach has a decision to make. You've been given the recipe, can't tell you how to cook it, You're the Coach. Mighty Bumblebees
  19. Congrats to Zach & entire English Family. The hard work paid off. Please come back when you can & tell us all of what you thought College would be & how it really is. Young kids near to hear it from one of their local heroes. Good Luck & May God continue to Bless You.
  20. I'm so glad to see adults handling disagreements properly. Apologies flying around like basketballs @ Rutgers Lol. Good job. But please don't stop the debates, I love a good back & forth as long as it doesn't get personal. Again, I pray the posts helps someone. We were created to Praise God & help each other. God Bless. Mighty Bumblebees
  21. I'm responding @ the butt end of the convo( but I read previous pages) Please hear me out. Dickie & Big Girl, when it comes to these kids, if you have something personal you want to say please PM that person because word may get back to that kid by someone reading this public forum & it could affect his/ her upcoming AAU game mentally(trying to prove us wrong) Big Girl, kudos for protecting your family, but please listen up. Your Fam is trying to play @ the next level. You are on here going back & forth with a college coach. Doesn't matter what level he is on. Would you have such harsh words if he were a top D1 Asst Coach? All I'm saying is Coaches know Coaches and you know as well as I know Big Girl, men gossip more than women Lol. So he has friends @ other colleges @ various levels that could give your Fam a look just because he asked. I know his comments are critical at times, but that's ok. Your Fam don't need smoke blown up his butt all day long or yes men telling him how good he is. If you're going to listen to anyone, listen to the College Coach who sees this everyday. My advice to your Cousin would be to fine tune the basketball game, were no reinventing the wheel, so just by playing everyday he will get better. I'm more concerned with the mental side because he may play for a Coach like the 2 guys @ Rutgers. If he does,he will have to have a pair of nuggets down there. For he record, if these kids think sports center will save them every time something like this happens, they are sadly mistaken. More times than not your scholarship will go before the Coach. This was isolated. I know those 2 guys went overboard, but I wouldn't bet on the Coach getting fired every time. Just a little word to the wise. I Pray this helps someone. Good Day everyone. Mighty Bumblebees
  22. Just the fact that Nederland is being mentioned as a threat for the District Title speaks volumes of their Coaches'ability. Now in reality, the Jags have the talent to win it all, do they have the Moxy? IMO Pearson& Wilridge will have to avg 16 pts a game or have at least 4 to avg double digits. How can Thisbe done when see them score 4 & 6 points in a qtr? I've seen Ozen score 3 in a quarter. Just asking.  Jags have the edge on paper, but my heart is with the Panthers. Jags fans have a legit reason to be optimistic, that team is scary; the potential is through the roof. Ready to see how it unfolds. Mighty Bumblebees
  23. Good post Ridge. I pray these new Coaches show that they care. Care means checking grades, knowing the kid personally. If you really Care instill discipline, morals & expect more. Some of these kids don't have dreams outside of SE Texas. Coach, can you see my dream even if I can't? You could if you cared.
  24. Colton Weisbrod IMO defines everything MVP means to a team. Most Valuable it didn't say best, most athletic, most potential; it says valuable. I watched almost every team in the area play this season and I must say I haven't seen any player get more out of their potential than this kid. He is not the best player in 20 4a. He earned this award because he plays with passion all game long. Take this kid off the team & Nederland limps into the playoffs. There were better players potentially in the district & better teams also, but for this kid to put this team on his back Speaks volumes. I've watched our so called more talented teams & players and saw these guys score 3-4-5 pts in a quarter. With this so called talent that's horrible. Little kids score in Rec ball in this manner. Yes, someone else could have won the award, but  by selecting Colton, was this choice far off? I'm just asking. I'll take effort & passion over talent any day. Talent comes around sometimes; effort & passion comes from within.  Not starting & argument, just stating an opinion.
  25. What is unacceptable is the way you speak of these kids & their community. I have sat back & listened to enough negative bull from you "girl" and whoever else signs off on these negative comments. Inner city kids win a ball game, now character, grades & everything else is brought to the carpet. Even critical of the graduates whom have gone on to college to better themselves. If no one else tells you I will. BACK OFF!! These kids & their community deserve better. I was taught if you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem. I grew up on the west side of Port Arthur and attended Abraham Lincoln H S & we whipped up on people. All that was ever said was how nothing good comes out of our school. We were ridiculed often. My question is,how many times do these kids have to turn the other cheek? Walk away be the better man when they are being confronted by adults many times. This must stop & will stop because winning will do the fighting for these kids & their community. One thing I know these kids have is pride & heart, 2 key elements the kids in the "hood" possess. Put that together with talent & you crybaby fans & wimpy "I'm taking my ball & going home" ball players don't stand a chance. Even if it was the best 4 out of 7. I hope & pray you mean spirited people on here refrain from any further negative posts, because Yates players & fans may read this & the game result may get out of hand quickly. In just a few words LOL. Mighty Bumblebees PS By the way the Bees will be in the building @ state tournament '88 Champs being honored. Be there next year also, back to back Champs FYI.    Lions players & fans, if anyone understands, The Mighty Bumblebees do.
