  1. I think they are stretched thin.  Not enough reporters and too many schools to cover in our area.  And they are "damned if they do and damned if they don't", meaning that people seem to get their feelings hurt or they just get ticked off if they happen to cover one school more than the other, regardless of how well the school is doing.  Kudos to the ones still trying to make it in sports journalism.  It's a tough world out there.

  2. Just curious as to what point Coach T WOULD be voted as Coach of the Year by the Beaumont group?  It certainly hasn't been in the last 3 years at ALL.  It probably matters to others more than it does to him but it has nothing to do with being "spoiled".  It has to do with the principle of the thing and makes it seem like Beaumont is a wee bit jealous of the success of WOS.  WOS scores over 800 points on offense in a season and has NO ONE on the offensive side recognized.  Spoiled?  I don't think so.

Some say that?  Don't even come close to agreeing with them.  Imo, Alex Durley was one of the best coaches ever in the area, if not the best.  Remember watching South Park roll under McCarthey (sp?).  I thot, Wow, he's good.  Then he goes to Orange and I couldn't believe the difference.  Then I found out Coach Durley was the OC at South Park.  And then he wins the SC at West Brook, in an actual story book year.  A few good bounces - ok.  But very few coaches, at any level, could have brought that team (those two teams, Hebert & Forest Park) together to play as a team.  Had the good fortune to meet him at a Punt, Pass, & Kick competition, as both our sons competed.  In that brief encounter, he impressed me as a class act.  No reflection on Coach Stump, who I think is good, but there aren't many Alex Durleys that come along.

When did Alex Durley go to Orange?  And where did he coach in Orange?

Don't see what difference it makes being that schools film every game from the sideline anyhow. I guess it just gives them a better view from the air.

I feel the same way!  However, FCC regulations prevent drones from ANY sporting event, so I'm told.  I see no problem with them before the game or at halftime.

Was for the band. For the record IT WAS NOT FLOWN DURING THE GAME. (Ma'am the in bold was not just for you)

We were told it doesn't matter WHO it is "for".  Drones aren't permitted AT the games.  I'm just saying that is what the UIL told us.  I think I'll go back and ask now....

I've seen drones at several games this season. The Lumberton and PAM games for sure. Not sure if its the media or someones personal drone.

Drones are not permitted at games, period.  Doesn't matter what if it's before, during halftime or after.  That was the word directly from the UIL when we inquired about it.

Henderson has a much harder division to go through and I don't expect them to win state. You got Carthage, Kilgore, Lavega . WoS has a decent Gilmer team so it's not like they would remotely have a shot in D1.

Carthage, Kilgore, Gilmer and Celina were ALL called and asked if they would play WOS in pre-season.  All declined.  Kilgore said he had talked to Carthage and Carthage said WOS was the most physical team he'd ever played.  Period.  So Kilgore said no way could he risk playing WOS before his regular season started.  LaVega was the only team (other than Kennedale) who was willing to play WOS but he'd made a previous commitment to the same kind of school that we played in KIPP.  He had called and offered to send his JV to play that school but the coach for the other school didn't want to do that, so KIPP was all that was left for us to play.  Get your coach to call our coach and set up a game for next year.  WOS won't back down.  Will Henderson?
