  1. I'm not sure how to call this game. I usually make it to 1 or 2 Georgetown games a year, and 1 or 2 New Caney games. This year I have not seen either one in person. Looking at what little video I can find of New Caney, it looks like they have a pretty athletic QB. Georgetown is playing a different style of football this season than the past few years. More smash mouth than high-octane. They held Seguin who averaged 47 points a game to only 6 points last week, and completely controlled the line of scrimmage. It will be interesting to see how they match up.

You’re right 3 winning seasons in the last 20 years, and 2 of them have Been the last two years. Things are on the right track for them. The splitting of the schools really hurt them.

It's all about coaching. I went to Georgetown K-10, and it is a school that has had very little talent over the years, yet coach Dean has them in the playoffs every year almost for the last 7 or so years. Tomball just needs a decent coach.

College Station 34 Georgetown 31 Final

Georgetown got hosed in this one. I was there, and it has been a long time since I have seen such a poorly officiated game that may have effected the outcome. Having said that, I don't think PNG has a chance to keep the score within 21 points of College Station.

  4. Porter would definitely beat Lumberton, they wouldn't have to drop to Lee. That's not the slightest bit of exaggeration either.

I live in Porter, I went to see them play North Forest. Worst game I have ever seen. I did not see that North Forest was all that good, it was that Porter was just terrible! I was thinking Porter was using the fumble to set up the run, but Ha! I was wrong!

  5. You just can't duplicate the size and speed that these fort bend teams have. Nederland was never going to neat george ranch. King was never going to beat foster. Crosby was never going to beat ridge point.

I can't agree with that. Size and speed has a lot to do with some things, coaching has to do with others. My old high school has half the talent that Crosby does, (we lost last night 70-66) but I dare say we would have dismantled Crosby if we had played them. Not due to size or speed, but due to execution and scheming.

  6. My football coach at Tomball back in 92 told my team "never listen to anything I say to the media." Having said that here is a qoute from the Beaumont Enterprise: Nederland coach Larry Neumann said. "If there's a better quarterback in this state, I'd like to see him." speaking of Hubenek of of Georgetown who has thrown for more yardage individually than the the 3 QBs from Dayton, Connally, and Dawson combined.

A lot of you dog fans are trying to make it seem like the close knit brotherhood the Nederland players posses will overwhelm the eagles, but I'd say that Georgetown matches that same brotherhood if not exceeds it. These seniors have been playing on the same side of the ball since third grade and some even younger, which explains a lot of this seasons success. The one thing that worries me is how the eagles will play in a close game. They've only been down twice this season, but for a very short period of time. Needless to say I'm a little anxious to watch this matchup

I agree with this. Gtown has never had much talent, and I have seen them pull off victories over teams that were just way better than them with shear heart and determination. Art Briles (Baylor) I think was 1-19 at Gtown before he went to Stephenville and won all those state championships. But even so Gtown has always fought harder than any teams I ever saw. I went to Gtown K-9 but graduated and played football for Tomball toward the end of their 20 year playoff streak in the early 90's. Even with such a history the Tomball culture was weak compared to Georgetown.
  8. Georgetown's season low on offense was 31 points, so lets just say the Nederland D can hold them to a season low of 21 points. After watching the Nederland/Dawson game the Nederland O is going to have a hard time scoring against the Gtown D, which is probably just as good as the Nederland D. The Nederland D is going to have to return some interceptions, because I dont think their offense has what it takes against a brutal defense.
