The 4 team playoff is just not enough.
Needs to be an 8 team playoff. I've been saying this for years.
A&M should have been in but I certainly wasn't expecting them to be selected. Politics.

It’s hard to keep Ohio State out because they had some quality wins and didn’t lose. Plus they are in a different conference which also helps. It would have been awesome to see A&M in but let’s bet honest, it doesn’t matter who made it because whoever it was is going to get thumped by Bama anyways. But I can see the case on both sides. I personally think it should be a 6-8 team playoff. That’d fix a lot of things. With 4 you will have this argument every year. 

All I’ve seen on social media today is how A&M got robbed. If only people wouldn’t be so close minded. 

Unpopular but accurate opinion. 

I understand a lot of people on here are A&M fans but they didn’t deserve to get in. Is the playoff supposed to be an SEC/ACC invitational? A&M has 1 quality win against Florida. They beat 2 teams with winning records and only 1 top 25 team. Coastal beat more top 25 teams than A&M.

I’m no mathematician. But I think if you took the smallest 5A (1230 students per this graphic from the UIL) and combined it with another small 5A. You would have at least 2460 kids.. which appears to be above the 2220 threshold for 6A schools. 

Crazy that you can combined two 5A schools and still be 5A

It's a valid point you have and I do get what the other poster is saying. I really wished we had more posters from other schools participating here.
But, like you stated, Silsbee in the last 16 years has been the most successful in this area. 12 trips to the regional tourney in those 16 years, with 10 of those trips reaching regional final, 5 regional championships, 3 state finals, 2 state championships.
No team in area has come close to those kind of numbers in recent years. Same for WO-S in football.
But I digress. Let's not make this thread about Silsbee basketball.

Why make it then? Particularly on a Silsbee basketball thread which has zero to do with who the principal is at Hardin-Jefferson High School.
