Coach85 got a reaction from prepballfan in Tony Brown
It doesn't matter if you've been there and had some bad experiences. The problem is he has discipline issues and that starts at home. There are tens of thousands of kids in the same situation, away from home and have to make new friends, that don't get in the trouble he has got into. It's called responsibility and maturity. It starts in the home. I'm not saying that kids his age in his situation won't do stupid things but most learn from the first time and don't keep putting themselves in the wrong situation. I'm sorry but I don't have sympathy for some one, kid or adult, who keeps putting themselves in situations that they know are wrong and doesn't try to avoid them.

Like I said on another thread, Todd Dodge would be a good hire for OC. He knows how to develope QB's, knows the Texas high school football scene, and is well respected in Texas high football coaching circles.

I gotcha. Just saw how well they were doing and remembered how he was a BH before. Nunez dad was a pretty successful offense line coach in the college ranks. Dwayne is a very knowlegable guy and knows how to get kids ready to play.

Got a funny feeling this is why Burnett retired from PNG.

When I played, if a coach said that he was going to put his foot in your butt, he meant it. I am not sure how many times I have had my helmet slapped.
Today we have come to a time that we are playing a sport where kids can slam into each other going full speed in opposite directions that sometimes causes broken bones, torn ligaments and concussions and complain that a coach touched someone.
More pansification of America.

Coach85 got a reaction from Kj Dad in Kneeling
I agree with this article. As I have said before on this subject just like the article said, this was thought of for the youth leagues to help coral the kids while the coaches were attending to the injured child. Taking a knee is not showing respect. If a high school kid wants to get on a knee and send a prayer up for the injured player that is fine with me but to require it is ridiculous. The parents whining about it are the ones who believe everybody should get a trophy and nobody loses. Grow up people. Taking a knee does not help the injured and is not a sign of disrespect. To me it is a sign that your team needs to grow up and get out of the junior league way of thinking.

My thoughts on taking a knee. Seriously injured take a knee if it makes a player feel better out of respect. But yelling and screaming because a team didn't take a knee is way more disrespectful than not taking a knee. I do believe though taking a knee is becoming something of the past. Having complete silence when a kid is seriously injured from both sides speaks way louder than taking a knee or getting angry and yelling "take a knee".

Prayers for the injured player that it was not serious.
I can't believe grown people are on here talking about our team not hitting a knee. Hitting a knee is not out of respect for the injured. It was started in junior leagues so that when a kid got injured the other kids stayed in one place and weren't roaming all over while the coaches checked on the injured kid. Back in my days we never hit a knee. Hell I watched two years in a row, 85 & 86, a QB for PNG get a compound fracture to their leg playing French. French never hit a knee while they were working on either one of them. This hitting a knee has gotten out of hand. Believe me I am very concerned when a kid gets an injury to that severity but hitting a knee is not going to do anything for it. I saw a few kids hit a quick knee a send a prayer up for him that I guess most weren't seeing because they were more worried why we were not acting like a junior league team.

If it's "disrespectful" to NOT take a knee, why is it OK for the injured players team to enjoy a water break??
If a player gets a stinger, slight pull, or cramp do you really think the other team should completely stop ??
Now, last night was different. When the young man was obviously seriously injured BOTH teams respectfully moved to the sidelines.
Turn on the TV right now - name one D1 team that drops on the spot to take a knee so as not to be "disrespectful." Yes I'm bias, and an Indian for Life.

Plusone, you must be one of those parents who believes in giving a kid a time out instead of a good old fashion spanking like the parents of old use to do. I bet you believe everybody gets a trophy too. I will tell you this, if I had done that to a kid when I played my coach would have kicked us off right then and there. Then when I got home my dad would have taken care of it. A lot of kids now days don't know what it's like because of parents thinking their child does no wrong. Heat of the moment or not, a player does not take a helmet off an opponent and hit him in the head with it if he has the right discipline.

It seemed to me that they had been "coached up" as to how to answer the questions and the host was probably given specific questions to ask them.
