  1. I have to agree with Dick Vitale. I find it hard to believe that people in Port Arthur are just happy about making the playoffs. Everybody knows the success Lincoln had. TJ was a strong contender in 5A even though they were a small 5A. SFA always had strong teams in 3A. Now all three of these schools are combined and they are just happy to make the playoffs. Memorial should be a least a three deep perennial powerhouse and should plan on making reservations in Austin year after year. To much talent there not to. All I hear every year is how young they are. These kids have to grow up sometime. Could it be the coach may not be the right fit for this school? I just find it hard to believe they are satisfied with just making the playoffs with all the talent around that campus.
  2. If there are kids that have transferred from PAM to Nederland they do not have to be recruited. There is an area around the Central Mall/Stone Gate area that is zoned to where a family can opt to choose to go to either PAM or Ned. If these kids did leave PAM to go to Ned maybe because they weren't getting enough playing time at PAM then if they live in this certain zone then nothing is wrong with it. Why do you think PAISD was so adamant about building the high school where they built it.....To try and attract more of those kids from that area?
  3. When PNG played Plano on Dec.17, 1977 that was the only game played that day at that stadium. There were no hold overs from previous games that day. Therefore that game will still be considered the state record for single game attendance. If there are more in attendance today then there should be a new record labeled as the state attendance record with multiple games played that day. It just goes to show that nobody follows High School Football like we do here in the golden triangle area.
  4. Why would anybody subject their kid to the beating that kids take in football all year round. Football is not a sport that should be played all year. A kids body is not developed to do that. They need time to heal their bodies not keep beating it down and possibly cause some major health issues at a very young age. My son plays but ounce the season is over it's on to basketball and baseball. Those of you who put their kids through the beating they take in football all year round are living vicariously through their son for something the parent may not have accomplished when they were young in my opinion.
  5. I'll put our Prospects red team up against any team in this area. For the first tournament of the year these boys played very well. We played better on Saturday then we did on Sunday but now that we have knocked the rust off I can't wait to see what these boys can achieve. The Gladiators are a very good team and very well coached and wish them good luck for the year. Maybe we will see each other in the near future.
  6. Prospects were Elite and went 1 and 1 with Brewers. We were told there was no way we should be in this premier touney and finished 3rd. Except for a couple of mental mistakes we should have beaten the Brewers on Sunday. But that is how it happens sometimes. These are 12 yr. old kids. We are very proud of our boys and know that they will work hard and get better and not listen to what other people are saying when we aren't even given a chance.
  7. Havoc, I had the chance to watch both games we played against Ned. The first game we played the poor kids didn't even know what gaps they were suppose to be in or couldn't even execute the offense you were trying to run. Then we play MCM and it was a totally different team. The coaches for that game deserve all the credit in the world for the change these boys went through. They fought hard, never gave up and stayed in the game the whole time. If you are jealous of that then you need to stay away from coaching because you obviously don't have a clue what it takes to make kids winners like these coaches do.
  8. I would like to tell Bubba Sonnier and Jason Lane that they have my utmost respect as coaches. You two and the other coaches made a gigantic difference in those kids level of play. Total difference from the first time we played them to yesterday. Great execution compared to last time we played them. Y'all deserve all the credit in the world for the way those kids played and no one can say any different. Who ever did not get to see that game missed one heck of one. Like I said you guys have my utmost respect for turning those kids around the way y'all did.
