Covid Game Cancellations/Replacement Games
Boneyard Boys replied to BCHOOPS's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Anybody have the game time for Vidor at Silsbee tonight? I guess they are only playing the Varsity game, has it been moved up and are fans allowed? -
Orangefield 61 Vidor 49/FINAL
Boneyard Boys replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
61-49 OF final OF jumped out on the Pirates early and it seemed like Vidor didn’t realize they could play with these guys until it was too late in the game. Decent fight to cut a 20 point deficit to 6 in the 4th but it isn’t good enough yet. Have to keep getting better, keep the faith Pirate fans! -

Not gonna work, Vidor players passing up on the 3 when that’s what we need... that’s the only thing we need right now. OF will put this game away at the line. -

Problem here is Vidor has to get steals with only 2 team fouls OF can easily milk clock before the Pirates can send them to the line. -

47-34 mini run for Vidor, their best effort I’ve seen so far this game. -

This game is very interesting to me, I see two evenly matched teams athletically but one team makes it look easy and the other makes it look very hard. It’s all about knowing how to play team basketball vs just playing basketball. OF up big 40-24 in the 3rd -

34-17 OF at halftime, they just play solid basketball, take the shots you give them and let you bury yourself. They are killing us on the boards, which there is no excuse for. They aren’t bigger or stronger but they know where to be and want the ball more. All 5 on the court who know how to play the game vs a few athletes is what I’m seeing here. They definitely have the team aspect down, plus we can’t shoot and they can so that makes it harder. -

You can thank the ADs and Superintendents for that, ridiculous what they have done. Should have followed other districts lead on this. -

28-14 in the 2nd OF just makes it look easy and takes nothing but good shots. -

Yes just read, we had to do that early this year and lost to Lton by 60. Sucks what the ADs and Supers decided for this district. -

Sorry just read what happened, been there done that with the COVID... the leaders of this district should be ashamed that they make these kids either forfeit or play with what you have when other districts are being very flexible with rescheduling games. This gives LCM a win without their scorer that would have been an L under normal circumstances, gives them a better shot at the last playoff spot. This season is beyond jacked up, I wonder if Vidor has to play the real Silsbee next week? -

That’s a lot of trips to the line in 2 games... Who does he think he is James Harden? -
Should be interesting to see what they can do next year with an extremely young team. All I can think of coming back on D is J. Smith and a couple of linebackers, on O you have 2 RBs and a couple of linemen. I still think they make the playoffs and I wouldn’t be surprised if they finish in better position than last years team. This past season was disappointing to me and it turns out that the 2019 team was a much more well rounded Pirate squad. That team would have done well in 4A and I think this young 2021 team will do just fine. I don’t see LCM or Lumberton turning it around that fast with new coaches coming in, so I think 3rd or 4th place will be in play for Vidor next season.

You’re right about that, I think the Pirates should have scheduled a few more teams on par with them to build something early in the season. But this season is so weird and volatile as far as scheduling goes so I’m sure there was a bit of take whatever you can get. COVID took away our matchup with the Indians, a game that I’m sure both teams wanted and needed before district. Vidor probably only ends up getting 20 games in this year, that is if everything goes according to schedule the rest of the season. -

I’d have to agree with that, looks about right. 4th spot probably comes down to OF or WOS. I had a high opinion on LCM coming in but they may be without #0 for a while so it’s going to be hard for them to score with some of the other teams. As for my Pirates they have already started in such a big hole with the COVID shutdown. It’s going to be hard for them to fight out of the bottom but they are improving each and every game. They are hungry for a win and you are starting to see it on the court. Hopefully with a game off Tuesday our PG can get himself feeling right.
