Atleast we have some good teams in our district. It will actually be fun going to district games now.

Liberty will bounce back from their disappointing year and win the district this year. They have several very good players returning and will be a tough first round opponent for whichever team WO-S' district puts in the playoffs against them.

Was at the game back in the 80's when Nederland finally beat PNG after a long losing streak to them..was awesome atomsphere.

We had a D-Lineman that could throw the ball 80 yards when I was in school. Amazing watching a ball fly that far.

Yeah go 190 toward woodville and high school is on the right at the red light across from Sam Houston Electric, but that isn't where their football stadium is.

The stadium is in the downtown area.

HF was pretty weak last year..that would be my pick for last place. I think Campbell's pick for this district look about right based on what everyone is returning.

Some schools don't play all sports because of past tragedies. Hard to hold that against them IMO. I know a few schools that would be better off if they quit playing football :wink:

I figured I should clarify that nothing I said had anything to do with Hudson expect the "hard to hold that against them" portion. Obviously when I said it would be better for a few schools that I know to quit playing football it didn't have any reference to Hudson...since they don't already..well at least that should be obvious.

ETBU I was just ribbing you about the ETBU part (which is also my alma mater). As far as the tragedy I can't remember which high school it was that I heard about that had a death one time and doesn't play football to this day. Perhaps that is just an urban legend.

I still believe Jasper's 1986 team with Troy Knight and Hunt was the best Jasper team I ever saw. That team also played terrific defense.

Yes that team had several outstanding defensive players. Adams, McFarland, Bevil, and Hafford come to mind.

Although Jasper didn't win it all and the 2003 and 2004 teams before better at the end than the 2002 team. I think Jasper's 2002 team had as much talent as any SE Texas team I can remember with the exception of the '87 Mustangs.

This would be a huge upset if Jasper could win. WO-S brings back far more talent than Jasper this year.

Jasper's preseason games are going to be brutal as is the district. Anything over .500 for Jasper this year I think will be a good season.

Man what can you say other than Hudson is a very good baseball team and just flat out beat us. Our guys had a great season and want each of them to know that we are proud of you. I hope in the long run that Bc takes out Hudson because I will never support a team that does not play all the sports that the rest of us do. So you Card fans hope you guys win your next round and beat them. I rooted for you last year and I will again this year.

I said after the Jasper series that if Huffman had as many passed balls, errors and miscues against Hudson they didn't have a prayer.

Huffman can still win this with their pithcing staff, but the blunders must stop.

I think Jody doesn't want me to watch anymore BH playoff games with him..have I now jinxed them in football and baseball this year..when do the ladies take on dukie?? :shock: :shock:

Hudson is very solid as usual. Huffman bats have the ability to come alive as we saw in the last series.

Huffman's bat awoke Sat. and Jasper's never did...due to very good pitching by Huffman. They should compete very well against Hudson.

Will Alvis..don't know his numbers but he is a very good 3rd baseman.

I would rate BC as the front runner..dog fight for the other 2 spots. Going to be very competitive. Probably the best baseball district SE Texas has seen in a long time.

This should be a good game and if BH plays with "fundamentals" they will win. Erros can kill a team' date=' especially if their unforced and in the playoffs. BH made some against HF in game two, but also played error free against Huffman. The two close games against Huffman were a result of better pitching. Huffman had a few errors in the 2nd BH game and BH did not, however pitching shut down the BH bats.

As for Jasper being beat by Silsbee, SO WHAT. I here people speaking of Jasper and other teams "East of the Trinity" as monumental power-houses, every year, in every sport. In terms those north and east of Beaumont can understand, HOG WASH! Drag your tail end out of the pinywoods and row that pirogue accross the river to see real sports.

Yeah that's right. Jasper and BH got put out by the same two teams two years in a row and never got to play. Jasper and BH have been pretty equal last few years in baseball from what I have seen. For some reason I thought Jasper had played BH the round before La Grange but actually played La Grange two rounds after they had put BH out. It was Columbus the round before I believe.
