  1. nvm here is a small summery

    From Lufkindailynews

    Thursday, August 30, 2007

For the second straight week, the Diboll Lumberjacks took on a top-level opponent and had a good showing.

A week after scrimmaging Top 15 Kirbyville, the Lumberjacks took on fifth-ranked Newton. Despite a strong showing, the Lumberjacks were outscored 3-2 in touchdowns.

Jacolby Spencer had a strong showing for Diboll as he threw for 105 yards. Cornelius Polk led Diboll's receivers with two catches for 56 yards, while Alex Castillo had three receptions for 53 yards.

With standout running back Ketarus Stanton sitting out of the scrimmage for precautionary measures, Kamron McCollum and Kendall Jackson carried the load for the 'Jacks. McCollum finished with 37 yards on seven carries, while Jackson had 26 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

Newton built a two-touchdown lead in the controlled portion of the scrimmage before Diboll got on the board with a Jaime Palacio 48-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

Jackson tied the game on a two-yard touchdown before the teams started the live portion of the scrimmage.

Newton scored on a 50-yard interception for the final score. Diboll threatened to tie the game later but fumbled near the Newton goal line.

The Lumberjacks will kick off the season on Sept. 7 at Shepherd.

  2. Well Newton looked pretty good tonight scored 2 TD in the controlled part of the scrimmage. Also scored TD in one quarter of real game situation. Had some injury's RB Justin Mclemore didn't play do to a sore knee but coach's say he will play next week against Crockett, also TE/DE Dylan Flannigan got a sprained AC joint but he should be fine for next week also. One of our CB got a concussion not sure about him haven't got an update just yet. But take away the injuries and they looked pretty good.

    How did Diboll look?

  3. Let them know all you want. We are running a whole new defensive formation that will most definely stop the run. That don't scare me if you tell those guys because when district start they will see us on film anyway. Oh, while you at it tell Hypo that he better take care of the football because we coming.

It didn't do much against the rushing attack of Diboll.  Stanton would have 150+ in a 4 qtr game.

  4. Kirbyville defeats Diboll...This report was from a person that was there!

They started out slow on offense. I dont believe they scored until the latter part of the 1st live quarter. Their qb may be small in size but he is quick and has quite the arm to get it to his recievers, which he did for the most part. Their TB is a stud, obviously. I believe one of their top players is out with an injury, I dont know his name.

They tried one XP but failed, they don't seem to have a reliable place kicker. They were successful on both of their 2 pt attempts.

They had 1 go to reciever.

The defense was really quick, Diboll struggled to score late in the 2nd. Kville ended it with an int., Diboll's offense is loaded at the skill positions, so it says alot about Kville's defense, Diboll made it to the semi's at 7 on 7 this summer.

Here are some stats from the game

    Total offense

    Diboll - 361

    Kirbyville - 335

Diboll's QBs - Jacolby Spencer was 8 for 10 for 165 passing yards.  He fumbled twice.

Kyle Prescott was 6 of 14.  He threw 3 ints.  2 were tipped by Lumberjack recievers but Wildcat defenders made good plays on the ball to pick it off.

Diboll led in first downs 16-14

The Jacks were able to convert 5 of 7 third down opporunities, while Kville were 4 of 11.  The Wildcats were also 1 for 1 on 4th down attempts and 2 for 2 in scoring from inside the red zone.

Diboll's top player RB Ketarus Stanton ran for 96 yards. He had both of Diboll's touchdowns with runs of 10 and 70 yards.

    Diboll had 5 turnovers - 3 ints; 2 fumbles

  5. Wow, i was at the game, and I was amazed on how much talent WOS had, I cant see anyone else being able to hang with them. Much luck to them in the playoffs and I hope they win it all.

Diboll still has a ways to go but, I can assure they will be a team to watch next season as all their starters return. Most of their starters are freshman, so they will be a joy to watch. Nikki Green is the girl you're referring to, and is 6'5, just a freshman, her sister who is a junior is 6'1. Talk about twin towers at the highschool level.
