i can certainly second this, bear.

That's difficult, because each sport requires different skill sets, but i just don't feel that golf is a true testament to athleticism. professional football players need speed, strength, skill, and stamina. the same goes for basketball, soccer, hockey, and many other sports. tiger is a tremendous golfer, and he's in great shape. i won't argue these points. i just don't see how the best player at a sport that doesn't involve running, jumping, stamina, or contact can be considered the best athlete in the world.

Angel Cabrera. He's only 38, but he's a fat smoker, and he won the U.S. open last year. I'm not trying to knock golfers. It's dang hard to be successful at the game, but i tend to think of the best athletes as those who play sports involving some contact (or at least running). is tiger a great athlete? absolutely. are all golfers? not really. skilled athletes? sure, why not. There are different type of athletes... games like golf, bowling, etc. involve more skill than either strength or stamina. to me when i think of the best athletes in the world, i tend to lean towards the athletes who are playing more physical sports. this, of course, is just my opinion* *but i'm right ;D ;D ;D

at least we don't have to see any of the posters naked.

i don't know who to pick anymore. with both teams at full strength, i picked HJ. when burrell got hurt, i started leaning towards silsbee. now if silsbee loses anyone to suspension, i'd have to go back to HJ. no matter who's on the court, these games are always hard-fought and well contested. it should be interesting to see what happens.

where were the women picked to finish in conference? -
well, austin is an impressive 3-21. i'm curious to see what they've been losing their other games by. we've seen some results nearing 100 in this area too, but it seems like the coaches here are decent enough to call off the dogs. the game was 72-18 at halftime, but they kept pouring it on, outscoring their opponent 61-15 in the second half. it seems to me that when a team in southeast texas is up like that at halftime, they find a way to make it a little closer in the second half to make things reasonable.

good deal... i've been curious about that. everything over there is hush hush this year.

it was a joke, bud . kind of like saying that chuck norris idolizes sutherland when everyone really knows he idolizes Coop.
-
i have to agree with Coop on this... tiger is highly skilled at what he does, but i doubt he could hold his own on the football field, or the basketball court. when i think of the best athletes in the world, i think of these guys who make all-state in 4 sports in high school, go on to play a couple of sports in college, and then move on to play some form of professional sports. i know couch potatos that are good golfers. it takes a large amount of skill and talent, but athletic ability is at most somewhat important in being good at golf. it's more about coordination and instinct. off the topic of my post, but to respond to one of your posts, federer got his tail handed to him the other day. he might be losing his dominant grip a little.

yeah, i figured... good to see you back.

73-47, final! Texas really took it to em tonight... it's good to see the horns finally get a convincing victory in Big 12 play. Another positive, AJ Abrams hit three 3 pointers. He's been struggling since the start of conference. -

70-47, a minute left... -
i don't know if he's the BEST athlete in the world. he's dominate in a game where fat, 50 year old smokers can win a major. i wouldn't argue if you called him the most SKILLED athlete in the world, or even the most DOMINANT, however.

Texas went on an 8-0 run the last 1:54 of the half to pull away a little bit. even still, this is a really low scoring game. -
Texas leads 28-16 at halftime.

i've been impressed with vidor all year, but still the fact that they almost pulled this one off surprised me a bit... they certainly have a legit chance at the 3rd playoff spot. good luck to both teams from here on out. -

I'm glad to see them get back on the right track... now if they'll just fall back off for a bit on wednesday and lose my horns, i'll be happy...
