I have already told him this but I am proud of Shug for what he was able to accomplish this season. I haven't seen his games since youth league and this was the first year I made it back to Texas and boy was it worth it. It is very surreal watching your brother transform into an athlete of that caliber.  I sometimes have to ask myself, damn, was that Shug? Did he really do that? He is one exciting player to watch and I am so grateful that he has 2 more years to improve his game in time for those games to come on Saturdays because oh yes, thats happening. What I am most proud of though more than anything else was that he earned the respect of his peers, lead a school with a storied football history, and maintained his humility throughout this entire process. Not to mention staying nearly flawless in the education department. I wish I had his stat line to post, he had to score 50 plus tds this year. inc. playoffs. Again, I'm so proud and look ahead eagerly for the next two seasons.

To the Indians, you battled hard all year and defied all expectations that others set and maybe you had for yourself. You turned everyone's perception upside down.  You won 11 games. You held many dynamic offenses in check throughout the year. You learned that you have talent to win big games in this district and beyond,  When you limited mistakes, you were able to compete with teams with superior athletes like PAM and College Station (at least for a while). You discovered you talent and depth for future teams. You have the lessons learned from this season to bring into the next. And Finally of course, YOU ENDED LARRY NEUMAN'S DOMINANCE OF MCM, predictably for the next two years (putting that out there now). Nothing to be ashamed of and everything to be proud of.

The crazy thing this year is people are complaining still, they are beat up and banged up with an 11-1 record.  Last year people complained that they didn't run it enough and they were chasing passing records.  This year it's they are running the stud QB too much.  He's changed his philosophy with what he's got.  That's the mark of a good coach.  On defense they've got average to below average talent, but kids that flat out give you everything.  It could be a lot worse.  Enjoy the moment and cheer on those hard working kiddos.

Enjoy the win today.... Let's get back to the grind for next week.... Still rolling with what we got... Freshman, Sophomores, hell, if need be let's pull up some middle schoolers.... Next man up, fill in the hole, play with all your heart, let's get it done.... Being a INDIAN is contagious.... Doesn't matter your age, shape, or size.... I'll eat crow now... Would have never thought we would have been 11-1 with a sophomore QB and all these injuries.... BF and his staff have done a helluva job using what we have... We are not the biggest, strongest, or fastest, but we are INDIANS..... So here we are... 3rd round.... Underdogs..... I like it.... Looks like College Station is up next..... Get ready whoever it is..... Our kids might still ride there bicycles to school, but that doesn't matter.... It's going to be a dogfight......  Once these kids are old enough to drive......Lookout........

Proud of the Indians in Round 2.  Despite some iffy snaps and penalties, the Indians got a good win.  Willowridge had size...more so than PAM...I'm talking about kids that looked like grown men.  Can't say enough about the leadership from PN-G's QB.  He had to grind tonight and still found a way to make big runs and throws.
To the fans complaining about the DBs - I understand what you are saying, but the Indians are not blessed with shutdown DBs like PAM.  We do not have 6'2" and 6'3" kids, with 4.5 speed, and ball hawking skills walking the hallways at PN-G High School.  The Indians have to roll with what they have on the roster.  And, the kids playing DB are doing some good things.  Are they perfect?  No.  But, they don't quit after a bad play. The same DB that gets heat from fans for playing too soft, or from those fans that like to gripe that he is too small, well, that same DB made another big play tonight in the 4Q when Willowridge had a throw down the field toward the end zone.  He was in position and he made the play.  All 5'6" or 5'7" and 125 lbs. of him made the play.  Those teams on the other sideline (Barbers Hill and Willowridge) will make some plays.  They are good teams.  Give them some credit, too.  Nonetheless, our kids fight, scrap, and they don't quit.  We had another great effort on defense...11 kids getting to the football.  The big guy at NG, #68, had a solid game.  Not tall, but he is wide.  When he gets going up the field, he ties up the OL and then the Indians LBs can make some plays.
On to round 3...and how about the new RB? Not the biggest guy, but he hits the hole fast and will lower his pads for a few extra yards.  I'm not an official stats guy, but I would not be surprised if the QB and RB each had 100 - 125 yards.  QB made some big throws...I'm guessing 200+ yards through the air.  Need to clean up the snaps and penalties.  Glad the PAT kicking game was back.  Much better this week.  Better blocking, timing, and good kicks.  Nice job special teams coaches and players.  I'm still not a fan of the pooch kick.  I understand the reasoning behind it, but it is a head scratcher to give the other team the ball at the 40 yard line.  That is the end of my small complaint.  Happy to roll into the 3rd round.
    Go Indians.  Peace.

You guys don't know our team very well. First, RJ is a dominate player no doubt, never argued that. But you haven't seen Preston Hughes at 100 percent either. With him back there with RJ it is a totally different story. I would say those 4th Downs you guys stopped us on don't happen and Preston gets the first. also, let's say RJ never was. Austin Bost steps up at QB in the style of Adam Morse if not better. Different type of team. But good too. The only reason Austin ain't QB is because RJ is of a level that rarely comes to a program like PNG, or any other school.  I agree RJ won that game for us, but that's what he does. If Hughes, Bost, McZeal are 100 percent, it ain't that close. Another caveat I want to throw in is Runnels. He was going to be our starting RB until his ACL blow out before the season. Had he been able to play, we would be very tough to beat. He is a beast. But alas, he is not and we did pretty good with out him. RJ and Logan pushed over in a tough win against a very good BH team when we needed them, for that I am happy.

Thank you! My son was not the QB or the kid on the bench that I mentioned so he has no idea what he is talking about. I just happen to like football and have watched those kids play for years so I know a little about them. Funny thing is, I'm sure if I was a man that comment would have been ok. I guess women aren't supposed to know what they are talking about when it comes to football.

Wow. Ndn mom never said she was talking about HER kid. Perhaps she's just observant and has opinions about football just like all the rest on here.

I think she makes a valid point. I don't think having a kid that throws 3 interceptions per JV game is the answer for us at backup.

NDN06 reacted to WOSgrad in A disturbing trend on the board that I hope doesn't continue this weekend
Usually as the lone utility of a game update thread for me is to update our scoreboard, I generally will not read a thread once I have gotten a final score in that game.  The only time I may look in a game thread after game day once is when the game thread continues to have life almost a week after the final gun has been fired as it indicates that something is amiss.  I had the opportunity to do that in about 4 different cases and there was certainly something amiss and all for the same reason.
It seems that in all 4 of these cases (I won't mention the specific schools, but after I reveal the problem, I think it will be pretty obvious of which ones I am talking about) supporters of the teams want to lay all of the problems of a team at the feet of the coaching staff, or more particularly, the head coaches at these schools.  I understand frustration at losing to a rival, losing a game that you thought your school should win or by more than you though they should lose by.  But some of the statements in the 4 cases have gone way far beyond that.  They openly question the ability, and in some cases the desire, of these coaches to put a good team on the field.
Folks, we simply have to stop that.  Jordan Wilson has prided himself on this site being a place where all members of our local community, including coaches, could come to talk about what we all love to talk about, high school sports.  And make no mistake, coaches DO read this site.  However, who would want to come to a site where they are not only told they lack the ability to place the squad of your dreams on the field, but that they really don't care if they do or not.  If you truly feel that way, there are places to have your grievances aired and possibly addressed.  However, this is not one of those places.
Simply airing your problem with a coach here simply accomplishes no end.  It only serves to divide teams and distance coaches from the communities whose support, not scorn, is what they need to maintain the respect amongst their ranks and progress their teams to the point that the fans believe they should be.
Not to mention that such conduct is against the rules of this board.  But I would rather put it in terms of a request that you folks, who I know are capable of restraint even in the extreme moments of frustration, exercise that restraint so that more rigid enforcement of the rules is not necessary.  I do so with this warning, should my request not be heeded, that more rigid enforcement will become necessary.
    Thanks for indulging me.folks.

I have seen these groups from png and nederland battle since 7th grade. It is always a fight except that 9th grade game I believe. I try to block it out. I know this is gonna make some people mad, but the horses are not there for png to be world beaters. Don't get me wrong, they are a solid setx football team. Very capable of winning district or finishing 2nd. They have some buzz saws sittin just west of the trinity waiting on the first round. It is a cycle people. You have a coach at png that is good to his kids and they love him. He make make some bad calls, but I promise some of you would not make the calls 100 percent of the time. Be careful what you wish for because you could run him off and get something much much worse. Any one remember Bobby august. Neumann is the top of the class in our district. No doubt about that, but be realistic, are you gonna win state every year?  It seems to me that yes that is the ultimate goal for all teams, but only 1 can do it. Support your team and see what happens. Parents that bash a coach to their kids create a hostile and untrusting attitude within the team you support. Fairclothe is not the only dist coach that Neumann owns. He is just at the top of the list this week
