  1. this game was a bit of a barn burner...Webster, the DVille PG, can play...just a very good, solid take-care-of-the-ball PG...I believe she only had 2 turnovers the whole game.  It was a bit sloppy but a fun game to watch.  There were a couple of other good players in the game.  Golemon (#33) had a good night rebounding and at the stripe (free throws).

Hardin got a good game from Carpenter (#32) and Johnson (#5) points wise with 18 and 12 respectively.

  2. You guys rocked tonight - what a game - the defense really stepped it up and shut Hemphill down several times. The offense was on - a few drop passes and a few questionalbe calls but all in all a great game. HISTORY - the Hardin Hornets won District (when only one team could win or go to the play-offs) in 1974 - they were beat in the first round of play-offs that year. TONIGHT this team made history for our school - first ever playoff win. HORNETS YOU ROCK - can't wait until next week.

Funny thing about that historical tidbit is that Coach Haynes was the QB of that 1974 team.

  3. Hardin will play Crawford, probably next Friday, either in Crosby or Dayton.  This is what I heard.

Hardin came out determined and ready to play.  Hemphill plays an offense that reminded me somewhat of the Buna offense, but more sweeps and stuff like that.  Hardin played great on both sides of the ball.  They were the more physical team tonight.  I saw some really nice hard clean tackles.  Only thing I didn't like was the 3rd down conversions by Hemphill.  It seemed like every time we stopped them on 1st and 2nd,  they would convert a long 3rd into a first down.

Oh, well...I can't complain too much because this Hornet team really brought their game tonight.  I am proud of them!!!!

  4. I don't believe that score is right b/c I was at the game and I believe the margin of victory was around 6 points.  I will have to find out.

Yes, Hardin lost a few seniors from last year so it is not the same team, but they do hustle very hard and pretty much don't give up.

I wouldn't say Newton clobbered them.  The score was back and forth through 3 1/2 quarters.  About 3 minutes left in the 4th, Newton went on a run that included some really improbable layups (meaning layups were horrible but they went in anyway)  ;D and a couple of really strange calls.  Not to take anything away from Newton, they are very athletic and can play, but Hardin was with them neck-and-neck until mistakes did them in.  #14 for Newton can play and score.

Edit:  I heard the score was more like 57-49 instead of the reported score of 56-41.

  5. For me to point out an exceptional play is not gloating by my standards it is giving credit where credit is due.

sorry, the play wasn't exceptional and it wasn't even a hit.  Receiver slipped and DB covered him as he fell.

Now if you had said that #15 ran wild and made some good yards after contact, I would have agreed.  That boy is a hoss!!  To me, he was the most impressive Buc out there.  Give credit to him and not to TT.

  6. All they said was that it was a good hit.  I'm supporting all 24 AA teams in the playoffs no matter if they have been in the playoffs for 12 years in a row or 2 years in a row.  You should show some support, and that is what I'm doing.  It was a great district year, probably the most exciting I've seen in a long time.  Great year guys!  Good luck to ALL in the playoffs!

I guess I am taking issue with them saying "obliterate" and "lit him up" when it was just a stop.  The WR tried to dive and slipped so TT just covered him up.  It was stretching it to say "it was a good hit."

I do wish you luck in the playoffs.

  7. Alright now hdbbstar, it may not have been a huge hit, but it was a huge stop.  If tramain wouldn't have stopped him, Hardin would have had the momentum going into the second half. And by the way, that is great class you are showing.... win the first game and get "obliterated" in the second against Mart.  Come on now, show some support for your teams in your district.  We are cheering for Hardin and Buna.   Lets go 24 AA!!!!

I guess some of you showed great class by saying "did you see Tramain obliterate #3 from Hardin? Hit of the game and possibly for the season for EC" and "He lit him up big time."  It is hard to show support for teams in the district when they talk smack about an opponent they already beat.  Ya'll should be looking ahead, not gloating about who did what and such.  Plus, it is also hard to show support for a team that wins year in and year out, sometimes at the very low expense of blowing out teams like us when we were bad.  I would think that guys like you would have developed a better sense of class after winning all those years.  Ya'll should be saying "Good game guys.  See you next year", not "whoo-hoo, we hung over 50 again on Hardin, and did ya see that hit TT put on one of their guys."  Just as I hope that the trend has turned for us, from losers to winners, and  I hope that if we do continue the tradition of winning that we develop some semblance of class and pride in our program and towards others when we play them.  I know by posting on here that I have never tried to tear down or insult a program, but EC's fans are making it hard for me to respect them.

  8. Was i the only one that saw Tramain obliterate #3 the last play before halftime. Definately hit of the game possibly hit of the season for E.C.

Yep. He lit him up big time. Nailed him cold.

Ok folks, ya'll won the game...no need to go overboard congratulating yourselves.  By the way, TT did stop him, but it was a far cry from "obliterate" or "lit him up".  I've seen harder hits than that in a JH game.  #3 was trying to dive for the end zone and TT just stopped him, plus he had the angle.  It was just a stop, pure and simple.  It shouldn't be worthy of ECSPN's version of "Jacked Up!", but if you guys think so, you must be scrabbling really hard for material.

I am surprised that Hardin's defense did not play that well against ya'll.  I have seen much better defense from the Hardin bunch than ya'll did last Friday.  It was really kind of out of character for them to not play well.  The 3rd and long conversions killed us.  It seemed like we stopped ya'll the first 2 downs then opened the gate for ya'll.

I will say this #15 is a hoss.  That is a big boy!

  9. Well, I know what killed us tonight.  We gave up too many 3rd and long conversions.  It looked likedefense wasn't ready for EC.  On the 50-something yard pass play that EC scored in the 1st qtr, no one covered the eligible receiver that caught the TD pass.  He was so wide open that a grandma could have scored on that play.

Oh well, at least we are still in the playoffs.  It would have been nice to beat EC b/c we have always seemed to lose to EC all the time.

P.S. TT looked pretty good even though I could tell that he was hurting.  It is amazing what adrenaline can do for someone who is hurting.

  10. Since you asked, here is the events of that night. The 1st half score was out of hand. Lightning (not rain) was moving from the NW to the SE, diagonally south of town. It appeared 5-10 miles away, but that is totally a guess. It was definitly passing off to the SE. We decided to leave, regardless of conditions. As we filed out of the stadium, a TASO official was meeting with a woman in a Hardin jacket, standing near the sidewalk. Someone asked the ref "Are you going to call it (off)? The ref said "We can wait til the weather passes and restart". An EC rep walked up. I didn't hear every word, and I don't want to misquote, but clearly the inference was to just call it a game. EC could have wanted to wait and resume. In light of this, to somehow accuse EC of trying to embarass Hardin, and Hardin oweing EC some kind of ill-concieved "REVENGE" is waaaaay off base.

People don't have to like the football team if they don't want too, but I guarantee you EC takes prides representing itself with class at all times.

Thanks for answering the question about the official.

I do have to say, in my defense, that nowhere in my post did I say that the Hardin boys were looking for revenge.  I merely commented that "they will be determined not to be embarrassed like last year."  Any way you look at it, a 52-0 is an embarrassment even if the other team did not want to run up the score.  Also, I have never said that EC wasn't classy so please don't put words or "inferences" in my mouth.  I am not like some posters on here that talk smack.  I try to post well-intentioned and personal opinions/thoughts on here.

Now that I have vented a bit, I do have to say that I look forward to one bang-up game tonight!  May the best team win!!

  11. Man, that took a lot of gall to even say that! EC asked to mercifully end this game at halftime. The Hardin official agreed. I was standing right there (as I was walking out to the parking lot) and overheard the conversation. Had EC wanted, triple digits could have gone up. You oughta' have a little gratitude for EC's posture on this, and not act like EC went out to try and run the score up or anything like that, and that so called "REVENGE" is needed. Don't twist things.

That may be true and all, but the fact remains that the Hardin boys WILL remember that 52-0 beatdown.  It doesn't matter that EC wanted to end it...and what do you mean "Hardin official"?  I thought it was a TASO official, not a "Hardin official" that was in charge of the game.  Revenge may not be the key word, but they will be determined to not be embarrassed like last year.

Anyway, I think it will be a game to watch and enjoy, but Hardin wins 34-21.

  12. I think EC comes out mad after a loss to Kountze and doesn't stop scoring. i feel sorry for hardin because the are a passing  team going up aginst a division 1 secondary player.

    Hardin 14

    EC 30

You don't get it, do you?  Read your own post and tell me what is wrong with it.  Look at it objectively and without bias and you should see it.

***In case you still didn't get it...  You said Hardin is a passing TEAM going against a division 1 secondary PLAYER.  A TEAM beats a PLAYER every time.  The division 1 secondary player can't cover every eligible receiver that Hardin has.  So please read your posts before you actually post it.

  13. Well, by wonderful timing I was simply refering to YOUR timer conveniently forgetting to stop the game clock after an offense penalty. I may not be an EC student and am most definately not EC's biggest fan, but cheating is cheating, and not fair is not fair.

As for cheating in other sports, does anyone really need to bring up basketball officialing? Seriously, think hard about that one.

Speaking of comparing Kountze basketball to Kountze football, I see that that bad sportsmanship and dirty playing carries over tremendously easy.

I agree that officiating in all of the sports does need to be improved, but calling Kountze dirty in basketball implies that you don't know what you are talking about.  I know the Kounzte basketball coach and he doesn't condone dirty basketball, but he will run, run, run you into the ground.  He has won 2 state titles with Kountze and I am happy for him so don't badmouth his program.  I have a feeling that you are venting against Kountze basketball b/c EC hasn't won a district title (or for that matter, a state title) since he has been there (I could be wrong, but don't think so).

  14. Sounds like it will be one heck of a game!!!  Wow, 10,000 possible fans at Dayton Bronco Stadium???? I only wish I could be there b/c I was there at Dayton in the mid-90's.  However, I am at a different school now so I will be rooting for my team come Friday night.  Good luck Broncos and Indians...let this be a clash of the titans (injury-free, of course)!!!!

  15. If you look most everywhere, especially in this area, that the visitor's side is usually smaller than the home side.  Dayton's is no exception, but their visitor side is more than adequate, in my opinion.  I believe it will easily seat 3,000 visitors.  Plus, you have to account for the several hundred that like to stand by the fences and watch instead of sitting down, plus the several hundred kids that will be wandering around looking/talking with friends instead of sitting down.

Trust me, Dayton's visitors side has more than enough space for the dedicated bleacher fan.
