I thought they were banned, or maybe that was just me banning them 😂

I had actually been told by a former coach that Abseck had declined allowing La Porte to use Eagle Stadium this year. But, I take it as just a rumor. I don’t really know & haven’t heard confirmation one way or the other.

Seemed a little over a HC/AD pay grade to decide facility usage. But, I may be wrong. Wouldn’t be the first time.

    When did they start building?

Late January. Groundbreaking was January 13.

Of course, hurricane season will have a lot to do with the schedule as the school complex is less than a tenth of a mile from the bay. That’s also part of the expense. Much tougher building codes—which equals cost.

It was sorely needed. Old Bulldog wouldn’t pass inspections any more. Plus, being able to host events should help with some of the maintenance budget costs.

I wish they’d have been able to buy out the strip center next to the stadium for parking. But, my understanding is the owners wouldn’t sell at this time.

Congrats ! You beat BH struggle with teams you shouldn’t then bow out in the 1st round 👍

Yep. Bowed out to the State semi finalist in a game that was closer than the score indicated with a young team that hadn’t been to the PO’s in many years and a second year staff.

    Y’all had a good draw.

If LP would learn to use their big soph TE on intermediate passes this coming year 3 or 4 times a game, it would help keep D’s from stacking the box. Just a little flip over the LB’s, and that next level is wide open.

    Cough BH.  Cough

Y’all said BH had one of your best teams last year. You lost some good talent. Y’all are still 0fer against La Porte, and the Dawgs will be in the 3rd year of the staff with—depending on how they count the starters since LP rotates so much—8 returning on O & 7 on D.

Every matchup is different of course. But, BH would stand less of a chance this year than last, and Eagle Stadium isn’t an edge against LP. 😂

Only thing I'll say is it gives Crosby a couple years to get our feet back under us as this is not the top end quality of district 9.

Actually think La Porte, Friendswood & KP would all make PO’s in District 9 as well. PAM would probably be the other. BH and KP might duke it out for 4th.

If y’all move up to 6A and your in the one district, it’ll be tough.  If y’all stay 5AD1 you’ll be pretty good for the next couple of years for sure.  Good season this year and hopefully y’all can build on it next year and take the next step.

It was a solid season. Proud of the young men. To me, need to incorporate just a little more of a passing threat next year where teams can’t stack the box as much. Lancaster literally had all 11 within 5-6 yards of LOS. When LP finally started throwing a little late in the game, you could see Lancaster wasn’t ready for it at all. Even a 75/25 split would help the D’s have to be a little more honest.

I can understand this year. Second year of system, first full offseason program, wanting to get basics strong, and only a first time starting Soph at QB. But, next year, would hope to have a little more variety in key spots with the QB having a year of experience under his belt.

Gut told me you guys were going to be the only ones to advance after the 1st.  PAM didn’t show up unfortunately and LP got a bad matchup for them Lancaster isn’t your normal 4 seed.  Good luck next week.

Lancaster had a very solid club. Lots of talent. I can see why some had them ranked #3 earlier in the year. If they had a little more discipline, they’d be a lot tougher.

The LP/Lancaster game was closer than the score indicated. It was as competitive as advertised. Good game, even with all the flags.

LP is very young. This experience will help them get back to where they used to be very quickly. The staff is ahead of schedule to me. They return the entire backfield, half of the OL including the big TE on Dave Campbell’s watch list, and over half the D.

At 2249, not sure if they’ll stay 5A, or move back to 6A. But, the future is looking bright again, and the talent pipeline seems to be back with the backing of the administration, staff, and community. I’m hearing around town that parents outside LP are asking about the community. Apparently, some publication has rated La Porte as the 10th best ISD out of 75 in the greater Houston area.

With all the new facilities, the 1:1 technology standards, and all the local support, the kids have excellent opportunities.

That is pretty impressive. Lancaster has a P5 running back. Holding him in check is huge.

He got some yards late. But, neither team’s rushing game really got firing. D’s played well except for a couple semi big plays by the Tigers. I don’t remember any run of over about 15 yards max. Most were of the less than 3 yard variety for both teams with many TFL’s or no gains.

Lancaster pretty much stuffed LP’s run game with all 11 in the box.

Game was closer than the score indicates. It was as advertised as far as competitive. Would have been better without some of the penalties.

LP has a very young squad. This experience will help them as they continue to build back to what they historically were up until 5-6 years ago with all the coaching changes. This staff is ahead of schedule, and the talent pipeline is back.

Not sure if they’ll stay 5A or not at 2249.

    We’ll see.
