Slack kid is a great player. She went 7-10, 3 home runs, 3 doubles. Like watching her play. They have probably the best coach in area with coach slack.

If you want his # u can DM me & I will give it to you if you wanna question family business. Family business is family business & that's a no no to get into other folks family businesses. What a great game to watch. Back and forth which HJ finally won 4-3. It was also kind of sad to see the seniors play their final home game. Orangefield has beating up on us for many years and finally we were able to get a couple of wins this year. I rode home with my daughter after the game and she was kinda sad and glad all at the same time. We talked about the players on OFs team, especially Ashton G. who we think has been one of the best hitters in our district the last four years. She was happy we won the game but had mixed feelings when Ashton hit that last fly ball off my younger daughter to her in left field for the final out. We wish Orangefield all the best in the playoffs and thanks for the memories of the last four years.

    Truly painful over here!

    - 4a so no Spring ball
    - Son is OL so no 7 on 7

The recruit camp circuit only gives a small reprieve with 1 on 1 drills but that's all DL blitzing around the corner, even the NTs. I want pulling downfield and zone blocking!!

After Watching The Signing Day Videos And Watching Kids That I Met Through Football, Sitting In Pain, And Crying For Feeling Left Out, Or, Walked On To A Program That Did Not Think Enough Of Them To Put An Offer On The Table, I Must Say That I Am Humbled!!! I Have Learned The Most From My Son (Demarcus "Dee Block" Smith) Whom Is Not Mine By Blood But Simply By A Promise To Him At 6 Months Old To Father Him To The Best Of My Ability!!! He Said To Me Before Signing Day That Daddy I Am Tired Of The Fake Talk About What The Major Colleges Are Saying To Me About My Abilities Because That Says Nothing To Me Without Putting An Offer On The Table!!! He Is Intelligent Enough To Know That If They Truly Wanted Him They Would Have Found A Way To Make The Offer. Just As He Called It Quits On The Second And Final Part Of Our Camp Tour After Dominating At Texas, Baylor/HBU, Texas State, And North Texas Where All Coaches Raved About His Abilities And Got Contact Info But Offered Not!!! While I Will Always Believe In Demarcus's Ability To Play On The FBS Level I Think That God Has Placed Him With Coach Viator And The McNeese State Cowboys For A Reason!!! I Thank God For The Experience And I Am Humbled.  I Just Hope And Pray That All That Did Not Get a Full Ride To College Gets A Full Ride In Life Through Hard Work And Dedication To The Next Chapter In Your Young Lives!!! Sincerely, Mr. Davis

Great topic, I have done a decent amount of research on this over the last few months, once my son decided that he wanted to try for college football. I'll happily share what I know and if you know more let me know 'cause this is way different from how my daughter was recruited in softball, so I have a bunch to learn.

You have to get your name out there. Recruiting sites like ESPN/247/ Rivals help but you normally only get on those after you are being recruited. Once there you will get way more looks and may even get more offers but you have to do something to get on there in the first place.

There is another layer which does more scouting and promotion, Next Level Athlete etc. that offer camp/combines to highlight athletes. Going to some of these and getting some good quality video may help you get to those top level sites. Most also offer a pay service for emailing out to college coaches and a internet site to host the highlight videos. Even if you do sign up for the mail out service you Still need to send your own emails. Get the word out as much as you can.

Make a few college camps if you can. I am talking about the half day junior/senior type not the week long all grade camps. They generally are 50 to 75 bucks and are mostly for recruiting. From the schedules I have seen they have a combine section and a live drill section to them. Go to one that is close to you first if you can, even if it is not a school on your sons list. Firstly for the experience, my son just did his first one (Next Level Athlete not college, those don't start till summer) and it took a little bit for him to get comfortable on the field. Secondly why wouldn't you? Any school talking good about your sons skill/size what ever is a good thing.

My son plays for a mid sized school, Huffman Hargrave and while I think our head coach does put in work getting our kids names out there we are still a 4a school it is still up to my son and I to put in our work. It is also important to get out there in these camps etc. and see what the competition is like. You will quickly see that it is about the work you put in and skill level, because at these top level events everyone is going to be big/fast/strong.

    Couple of things here...
Did the kids fill out the NCAA eligibility center form?
If not, a college cannot recruit you.

Do they have a qualifying SAT or ACT score, if not they cannot bring you in for an official visit.

Without those two things, (which is the responsibility of the students and parents) a coach can't do much to help the student in recruiting.

Was there a highlight video made.  with HUDL, hundreds of video can be sent out in a matter of minutes.

Where you at the game last night? The back-up QB did give Huffman a chance. But as previously stated, it hurt Huffman because it took away one of their main receivers also.

Congrats to Jasper. They seem to be playing very good football at the right time.

Where to even begin, well first off the district thing. That is a long ways off, I don't like putting the cart before the horse. If we keep rollin as we are, and even though I think we will that is still a big IF, it will come down to Jasper at home in week <fill in blank>. Most likely both teams will be undefeated in district when we meet. That said there were still things Huffman has to work on to make sure we keep improving.

On the Silsbee QB situation. It is harder I think than first perceived, #5 came in the second half and had success running the ball (aka clock, which Huffman was more than happy to let him do) but I know the Huffman squad and know that by the beginning of the second half they were already cycling in extra players for play time on defense. Think offense started doing this mid-way through the 3rd. That said I like the second guy if he gets some time to run that read option as both 5 and 2 look really good running downhill. When we could get a helmet on them early we bottled them up. The first QB has a really strong arm but really floats it when he throws it on the run which was much of the time.

The core is not the junior class. There are 3 juniors that start during this championship run. You have 2 seniors, 3 sophomores and 1 freshman. 3 juniors have been hurt. One of them did pitch in lufkin game and was amazing. So we hope she's healthy again. So this teams core is a balance of all classes.

Well I'm sure it will all come out in the end. I think Gage is s fair man and would be shocked if he just suspended her for something insignificant. For now I wouldn't discuss this subject or make accusations and would just let it play out. I hope dayton and bh meet in the regional finals.
