I heard the location is Lufkin but 2-3 is still to be determined depending on the Huffman-LCM game Friday. 1 Jasper and 4 Silsbee are locked in.

Would be nice to see everyone healthy but even if #7 is still on the sideline, given a week of work I'd say #18 could handle things. He started to get on time to end the Jasper game. Definitely something to build on if he is indeed needed for this week.

Well Murph, there are always a few different views on this. While I see your point (and agree with) that the backup could have used a few more snaps with actual passing and not just handing the ball off to run the clock out. I went back and looked at the previous games and the passes once things were in hand almost always went to secondary receivers. I can see why you would want to leave the starters in and work on getting the timing down between the other receivers and the starting QB for when that is needed.
I guess it is all in how you rank what is important. Getting the backup QB reps or getting the secondary receivers some live receptions with the starting QB.
I think that since Jasper pressed #1 off the line with additional cover over the top it was the secondary receivers that put us in the lead to begin with, with out the extra reps for starters at game speed it might not even be an issue once the starter went down.

Oh and I will second the Mr. Magoo crew we had in stripes tonight. They looks lost most of the night, many many conferences and head scratchers.
-
No disrespect at all to Jasper they played a heck of a game, but this game looks much different if we don't loose our starting QB. The backup is not only a sophomore with minimal snaps, he is also our 2 or 3 leading receiver.
The running attack of Jasper in the 2nd was impressive, again congratz on the District title.

Congratz on the District title Jasper

To many 3 and out by the offense Falcon defense is playing tired and Jasper is pounding it. Dogs in full control.
-
Starting QB hurt late in the 2nd. Backup is trying but the timing isn't there. Jasper is taking advantage.

huffman backup QB throws a pick 6. Jasper up 13-10

I'm not much into trash talking so to be clear, "keep on rolling" is a reference to getting the win. I am both old and old school so I'll leave the trash talk for the younger fellas.

While this will be the biggest test since Shepherd I'm betting the Falcons keep on rolling. I'd also bet your news of the commits wouldn't be so new to our Coaching staff. Those guys take their scouting, film and game planning pretty serious.

39-9 Huffman up at the half

I have to go with Chase Harrell for overall size, speed and ability. He routinely pulls double coverage and still puts up great numbers. Route running is getting cleaner and he adjust to the ball very well, once it gets there he can really get up in the air to make a play. His hands are getting stronger, which I felt was his main weakness from last year. He has really worked on his craft this year and it shows, he has looked better each game.

End of 3. Huffman up 62-7. Backups in, running the ball
-
Halftime, Huffman up 48-7. Huffman running the ball
-
End of 1. Huffman up 34-7. Splendora scored on a kick of return. Huffman looked to be starting to run the clock until Splendora decided the best defense against our receivers is to cut/tackle them at the line of scrimmage. This might get ugly

Field looks to be in good shape given the rain. Some standing water on the track so we will see how it holds up
-
A plastic one though, so it will pass through the metal detectors.
-
Harrell - Huffman WR, SR - commited to U of H, they also have some young WRs and OL that may be getting looks
-
Having seen them play I can tell you this is not the Shepherd of years past. These boys can play and will show up hungry, if Coldspring comes in unprepared they will find themselves in a battle.
-
I'll put forth Chase Harrell, the numbers where insane last night 137 and 3 TDs in the first half. However the main reason for the nomination is the flat out athletic plays he made, from going up over defenders to splitting tacklers with a open field spin.

Where to even begin, well first off the district thing. That is a long ways off, I don't like putting the cart before the horse. If we keep rollin as we are, and even though I think we will that is still a big IF, it will come down to Jasper at home in week <fill in blank>. Most likely both teams will be undefeated in district when we meet. That said there were still things Huffman has to work on to make sure we keep improving.
On the Silsbee QB situation. It is harder I think than first perceived, #5 came in the second half and had success running the ball (aka clock, which Huffman was more than happy to let him do) but I know the Huffman squad and know that by the beginning of the second half they were already cycling in extra players for play time on defense. Think offense started doing this mid-way through the 3rd. That said I like the second guy if he gets some time to run that read option as both 5 and 2 look really good running downhill. When we could get a helmet on them early we bottled them up. The first QB has a really strong arm but really floats it when he throws it on the run which was much of the time.

Harrell is going to U of Houston. Makong some very athletic plays. Blocking adjustments up front for the Falcons are giving Gaitin a ton of time

Any word on how well LCM's field takes the rain? Looks like two days of rain before clearing up for Friday night.
