1. Same here. I had comcast and switched to direct tv because it was cheaper for a little while, they sucked and I switched back to comcast even though it's a little more expensive. The direct tv in my area starts messing up when it rains hard, the only time my comcast/xfinity messed up was hurricane Ike. I've seen a bunch of Lamar, HBU, Sam Houston, and d2 games that I didn't even know were aired. They also show a local high school game every Thursday night, have a Friday football show that cover local teams in depth, and a recruiting show that airs during the season until signing day. There's usually about 5 or 6 high school games on per weekend on comcast, I have at least a dozen channels that show d1-naia games on Saturdays.
 2. I know he's from Sealy, much like Eric Dickerson though the area he's from is "urban". That's why I used that term instead of "inner city".
 3. The SEC thing isn't really that true, the majority of those kids just want to play for Kevin Sumlin. The coaching change boosted the recruiting, not the conference. You can look at Missouri's recruiting the last 5 years and see that. 2 of their top 3 classes the last 5 years were in the Big 12, their second worst class was this year's after actually playing for the SEC title. Sumlin understands he has to be over the top with his recruiting methods, otherwise you don't get a kid like Speedy Noil who's from New Orleans to come live in College Station where the only people he fits in with are his teammates. Kids like Thomas Johnson and I'm sure some others, probably like Seals-Jones are having a harder time than usual adjusting from the urban areas they come from to rural/conservative College Station. Before Sumlin came I doubt there were many, if any urban kids that grew up wanting to be an Aggie. Not my words either, that's from guys that I talked to like Johnny Jolly. Like people already said, one coach wins 8 games and went 3-1 in the BCS while playing for 2 national titles and gets pushed out. The other coach wins 8 games and has a production slip but gets a raise. We don't have to say it, the A&M board of regents already has. . . .
Maybe you need to re-watch the video,  the QB was running for his life most of the game, and Crosby's D couldn't stop anything that Ned was doing.  14-0 in the 1st with 5 min left.  Also,  I hope you have a better  punter than last year the kicking game put you in  a hole all night.
We do have a different punter. We couldn't stop Ned's O? Y'all got 14 points in the first and we played the last 3 quarters to a 7-7 tie. We had a costly turnover and left a couple plays on the field. Y'all got the same 20-21 points you scored on Vidor, Dayton, Connally, and Dawson. That's all y'all score on decent teams and couldn't manage that on Georgetown. We'll see what happens in the second year of the offense. Aston was also told not to run last year so he could get used to reading defenses in the new system. I bet he takes off more this year.
Because we didn't need to score any more.  Defense takes care of their part.  Every game you listed with the exception of Georgetown we won, so i would say it worked out ok.  :)
IJS, in the last couple of seasons in Ned's more noted games against WOS, Crosby, Dayton, Barbers Hill, Vidor and 7 playoff games(#envious) win or lose they haven't scored over 25 points. They did get 31 on Angleton last year though. Your offense didn't get better or more explosive by losing Raines and Shaw either. I think Ned is going to score in the mid to low 20's like the normally do in games like this. Question is can we get 28 or 30?
All those teams you listed have pretty good defenses too. But so what if we don't score 50 a game, our offense isn't meant to just run up the score board.. It's meant to tire out the opposing defense, limit turnovers, and keep our defense rested for the end of the game. Last time I checked you just have to score more than the opposing team. And lately we've been really good at that. White is not bad, don't sleep on him. We replace Shaw and Barrow with Seay, who is very good, and some juniors that are bigger and stronger then them both. Broussard is quick and decent size, Bordelon has hands like glue, and Richardson is very quick. That's not even mentioning Krautz who is faster and bigger than Barrow was. Hopkins only got better in the offseason, and Barton and Dial should really help back there too.
. . . . plus a first year qb making his first start and on the road at that against our 3rd year qb making his 24th start. The tables are almost exactly turned from last year since it was our first game with a new coach and on the road in a tough environment. If we can get Austin going I think we'll win, and I like our chances at that.

 8. Crosby played St. Thomas and Magnolia West. Nobody really played against St. Thomas, Twins didn't even come and Raelon never put on a helment. I didn't get to see but I heard we moved it pretty easy on Magnolia West just like last year. I'm hearing the o-line is even  bigger and better than last year so I expect Walter to get 2k yards rather easy. We're going to start several sophomores across the board also.

 10.
Our offense will definitely keep our defense on the bench a lot more this year, we can grind it out or strike really fast, the cougars will find this out Friday night......Dogs 38-17
When has Ned ever struck fast or had a high powered offense? Now with a first year starter at qb Ned is going to be high powered? First of all Ned's running attack which is the lifeblood of their offense was greatly helped along by a good o-line. With the departure of guys like Pryor Ned's line is going to be hard pressed for improvement over what it was last year. Even still it took 46 team carries to get over the 200 yard mark on our D which should be a lot better this year. Raines made some good veteran plays last year like you would expect a three year starter to but I'm expecting some growing pains the new qb's first start, especially on the road.

If this were correct wouldn't the curve of multiple state championships play out across other sports outside of football?
It's even more evident in other sports. Take BH for instance, they don't have the best athletes but there are parents there that will pay 3-5k a year for kid to play baseball or softball, same for golf. That translates in high school as you can see both high school teams were ranked #1 at one point. The Klein and Cy schools dominate soccer in the region due to their money. In football I still think it's more coaching than anything else even though you can't be short on talent. Prime example is Steve Lineweaver, his Commerce teams played for four 3A titles in eight years and won 2. He left and went to Euless Trinity where he's won three more 5A titles. Commerce might be one of the poorest places in East Texas and Euless' Polynesian community is by no means affluent. Lineweaver probably makes over 115k though so Trinity is definitely getting their money's worth.
Lineweaver is the best high school coach in Texas bottom line
I honestly believe so too. He's approaching mythical status. A couple more titles will give him 7 overall and at least 10 title game appearances. He may be the best to ever wear a headset in Texas and he's done it all public schools.

 13.
You have NOONE who can block Caleb Malveaux either.
Josh Blackburn was all-state on a couple teams and did very well against everybody that lined up on him except Washington. He'll be even better this year but still won't be able to block D.Wash. Pryor on Kouron allowed Washington to make even more plays but they're gone now. By no stretch am I saying it will be easy to block Ned's d-line because of their departure but I think Aston will have more time and our line is a year older and stronger. If Aston has time I think Ned will struggle to cover our receivers.
 14. Wow, no speed in the secondary? Speed gives us problems? Other than SC and Dayton I can't remember a team we lost to the last couple of years that didn't grind it out. Teams that keep the ball away from us give us problems. If you give us the standard 10-12 possessions we're going to put points up. I don't think it'll be a blowout either way. Nederland is going to score their 20-24 points they always seem to get on decent teams. Ned rushed it 46 times for 208 yards on us last year but I'll gladly take that, it was the 4 or 5 play action passes Ned completed to keep drives alive that hurt. It was our first game with a first year head coach and on the road at that. Aston got a lot more comfortable with the new offense as the season progressed. He didn't look like he knew where the receivers were supposed to be in that first game action. Raelon did burn a Ned db for our score but we only threw his way a couple times that night, expect that number to increase dramatically along with Cullen Lee who's 6-3 and about 200lbs doing work over the middle. We also have a sophomore receiver that once he gets it figured out will be a matchup nightmare. Crosby's foremost issue is will be how to block Washington. I like our o-line against Ned's d-line except for that matchup. My guess is the screen game and misdirection but we'll see what Riordan has in store. Nederland 24     Crosby 28 We make one more big play than they do and go 3-1 in our last four games vs Ned.

I hope it's a good one though.  ;)
 16. I was looking through some stuff and saw that the Gas Pocket has the 10th highest winning percentage of all current 4A high schools in Texas history. To go along with it they also have 2 3A state titles. They've only missed the playoffs twice in twelve years('06,'07). They had the second widest margin of victory in the district last year if you include all games. Thought I would just show y'all some love before we hand you your first loss of the season. 8) [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]

Would have been hard to pass on the opportunity to play the Mike at OU and maybe even for a national championship but I said several months ago that the perfect fit for him IMO would be playing inside in a 3-4 scheme and that's the type defense Tech runs. Tech is in desperate need for recruits like Dakota and he should be in the mix as a freshman barring injury. He tested well enough where he should be able to stay on the field in the nickel coverages they're so fond of in the Big 12. Him and kahlee Woods should hold down the middle for a while. Tech had a good D last year but I think it was more staff than talent. Kingsburry is putting together some good classes though as you can see from the one that Dakota's in. Good luck to him, they got a couple more to put in the pen on the South Plains now.
I think OU was trying to recruit Dakota as an OLB, not sure how much that affected his decision but an OLB in a 4-3 is fairly different than an ILB in a 3-4, especially defending against a spread offense.
Dakota is already close to 230 lbs. I doubt they're recruiting a kid that size already to play on the outside. Most teams are going to run a 3-3-5 vs vs the spread on early downs anyway. There's only one Mike at OU vs 2 ILBs in Tech's D. It would be a lot harder to get on the field at OU also which probably figured into his decision. Whitley and Scott are playing on the inside and they're smaller and faster than Dakota. There's just more spots available at Tech.
[Hidden Content]
That nakes more sense then, good info. It says OU's Mike and Will positions are similar in the Sooner's defensive scheme. I remember OU going 4-2-5 for their nickel like TCU does instead of 3-3-5 like Tech or UT which means he might come off the field. If OU thinks enough of his athleticism to play on the outside that's pretty awesome though.

Before you know it, SC will be like "how did they beat all of our D1 prospects and ranked # whatever runningback D Chapman"? ;D ;D 8)
liltex will beating his Bronco hat on the fence in frustration and Octfeb will be yelling from the sidelines at the Dayton DB's to cover somebody while tripping over her camera. ;D
. . . . Then you rolled over and woke up. ::)

He shines on far less carries only question is the completion he is facing, plus starts on defense and has played both ways on varsity since his freshman year so it's clear he can stay healthy, only injury was a high ankle sprain soph year missed 3Gms Year.  Car Yds Avg Lng TD Total  318 3692 11.62  82 58 12-13 151 1810 11.99 82 31 11-12. 85 884 10.40. 80 12 10-11. 82. 998  12.17. 80. 15
Those are good numbers but I would argue that Austin Walter's 1976 on 196 carries is more impressive considering the competition. He's not far behind the career totals too and has only played two varsity seasons. I hope he does well but backs from the smaller classifications have struggled on the 40 acres. I remember Traylon Shead from Cayuga rushing for about 10,000 yards in high school and he had the THSF all-time TD record when he left. I don't think he ever got a carry at UT and is now at SMU. He was already over 200lbs in high school and benching 400 but I think the football stats came from competition more than anything else. According to UT's website Shorter is coming in as an ''athlete'' so maybe they have plans to try him at a couple different positions?

Summer Creek 2. Barbers Hill 3. Crosby 4. Dayton 5. Kingwood Park ::) ::)
BH over Crosby? :o
It says they're Denny is supposed to join O'Neal for his 4th year as a starter in BH's ''high powered offense''. Very disrespectful. I guess BH has somebody on the Chronicle staff too?
think he had around 1100 yards total offense and 3 td passes. Not to impressive but it did get him district MVP a couple of years ago.
No doubt he's their best player but is he even going to play? Is he going through fall camp? If not I put them behind KP.
