believe me.... No one from dayton listens to cougar14
Or anyone who knows anything about football listens to him. ;D
Yeah, but I'm sure I'm one of the only ones that could walk right out of my office right now and go get a coaching job at pretty much anywhere around here. A lot of my high school and college classmates have coaching jobs now, not saying they're Bill Walsh but my football knowledge is more than sufficient. I would be coaching now if I didn't get a 6 figure job when I graduated college. Y'all just kill me because I like stats and sometimes they don't agree with what you think about your own team. I know Crosby sucks, but at least I don't wear team colored shades.
believe me.... No one from dayton listens to cougar14
You probably should have for the SC game, I told you if you keep running those same three plays you're going to get your teeth kicked in. You should also listen when I tell you Hancock is no Stewart. Hopkins is 41.3% of the total Ned offense, which would be around half if he played during the ends of games. Your qb is averaging 123 per game passing and has 11tds with 6 picks. Shaw is averaging 39.5 yards per game on 2.8 receptions, I know he can get behind you though. I'm just trying to figure what else you have on O besides Hopkins? Y'all struggle to gain 300 yards a lot of times. I could be missing something though.
 3.
Crosby wins this one pretty easily. I do see Ozen scoring on that weak corner you guys have that we should have picked on but Crosby has it. Crosby 35 Ozen 14
You have to be able to throw to pick on a corner. SC and Dayton beat him deep, BH doesn't have anybody fast enough to do that. That kid had two awful games but I think he's among the tops in turnovers caused. He's had a few ints and fumble recoveries since the SC game, but now the coaches are protecting him with help over the top.
 4.
Has anybody really tried to run right at BH? Seems most of 19-4A is zone based running attack.
Crosby runs a zone scheme but gets a lot of movement at the line of scrimmage. We ran for 340 yards on BH, but we ran for a bunch of yards on everybody over here besides SC where we had to throw it for 337.
We may not be, but we are right up there with them.
We played all three, and the one thing I can tell you is that Ned is no Summer Creek. Not even close. Ned is about equal with Dayton, Dawson is the only team with a shot to knock off Summer Creek. They beat you by a couple touchdowns in a bad game. I understand y'all use Ned and their defense as the bell cow but here are some closer numbers. Yes, I do know a win is a win but the numbers will eventually catch up with you. Ned: allowed 311 and outgained by GCM, allowed 298 and was outgained by Angleton, allowed 311 to Vidor and was outgained, allowed 291 to LCM and only had 5 more yards, allowed 273 to Port Neches. It's not like Ned's d is suffocating, and the only game their offense broke 400 yards is Lumberton. Even with Dayton's offense looking as bad as it has, I still think they scratch out enough points to beat Ned.
those really are some of the most useless numbers...most of those games (except Angleton) were Nederland wins with them holding more than one score leads and playing  defense that allowed their opponents to accumulate yards, but eat clock...I coudl really care less abut how many yards we gave up...more concerned with points so look that up instead...even more important, look up wins. I expect this to be a good game...I do not see Dayton having another performance like they did last week...say what you want about Nederland, they may not look like what YOU think a "great" team looks like, but I can promise you this, they will be in any game they play and are not apt to getting blown out or manhandled by anyone...it hasn't happened in 2 years so I don't expect it to start now...ask Dawson...they ended up with their hands pretty full last season in that playoff win over Nederland...this years team is better than that one
Dayton played like that against BH the week before too. They've had a couple of other games like that also, they usually make enough plays to win though. I think it's going to be a great game because people have figured out how to keep the Dayton passing game in front of them. Ned much like Vidor won't have major scoring desparities because they keep the ball and clock moving with Hopkins. You keep Hopkins in check and Ned's offense is pretty run of the mill. Dayton has already seen Walter, Jeffery, and O'Neal so I don't think Hopkins is going to be much of a shock.
First of all you run a slot-t, second of all you definitely won't have the best player on the field and maybe not even the third or fourth. Vidor barely had 300 total yards on Crosby and they kept the ball the whole game. Vidor only averaged 4 ypc while Crosby averaged almost 10. They don't break long runs on teams that can easily catch them. They gain three for four at a time, keep the clock moving and try to play mistake free. I see one Vidor fan say they can play from behind and if you "remembered the Ozen game". Vidor's game is to get you down then try to run the clock out. If you get down like you did to Angleton last year and try to throw a forward pass you get your head beat in. First you shouldn't have been down to Ozen, second comparing Ozen to SC is like comparing Crosby to North Shore, not in the same area code. Look at it this way though Pirate fans, after SC kicks you teeth in this year, you get a rematch again in the first round next year. That's if you don't stick to your normal ebb and flow of being decent, then going 2-8 or 3-7. No Montana next year either . . . .
Two words man. Different year. You sure love to live in the past don't ya.
Nah, I actually posted that for your future reference. You got Summer Creek this year and probably the next. This ain't Crosby, these boys beat you by two tds on a bad night. I wouldn't depend on Montana being able to get 40 pts by himself. Moore won't be a factor, they stopped O'neal and Walter and those guys are better. Just hard for me to see how Vidor consistently moves the ball on SC. If you have a couple three and outs early like Dayton it could be 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. I don't think Pirates like Pitbulls.
They gave us no chance last year against Crosby and Montgomery also....
To be totally honest though, y'all were 8-2 and we were 6-4 when we met. If you would have made a line it probably would have been Vidor -6.5 + another -3 for the homegame. Nobody thought y'all could win because your Vidor, no other reason. The more and more you run that gimmick offense the less effective it's going to be during the playoffs at the end of the season. Teams are going to have film, and when you start playing squads with disciplined athletes (playoffs) they're going to contain it. I just don't know if you can expect to make runs if you can't throw a forward pass.

 9. How really healthy is Denny? I see Livingston gave up 42 to the last running team they played and haven't beaten anybody with more than 4 wins but they do have the UT commit that can change the game. I think BH pounds Livingston with the power run game if their Houdini is healthy.

It is what it is, we still did what a solid team does and win but if it wasn't some home bias then that means those officials were really that incompetent. Most Dayton fans won't admit it but they see it too. Fun while it lasted though! ;D
My Dayton insider basically told me the same thing before the season. I never posted it because I knew where it would lead. A prime example of your statement is your domination of Crosby over the last decade and a half, two schools with similar talent and a lopsided record. Purely coaching, Dayton had one of the best to ever wear a headset, now they have a void to fill. I just wonder if Crosby had never let Stewart go if we would have had the same success and maybe a title?
I have to disagree with you on this one MBG. Besides 92 what position is Ned better at on D. Maybe 90 on the other side but if so not much. # 76 for SC is the best d-tackle in this district and the best I've seen so far this year. SC secondary are bigger and faster, the linebackers are bigger and faster, I'll give the D-line a push but SC gets interior pressure while Ned gets it off the ends. We played both teams, and we only scored 7 on Ned but it was the first game of the season with a new coaching staff so I'm sure it would be different now. We barely got 20 on SC and we're one of the most potent offenses in the region. Pryor is one of Ned big time players and doesn't have a rivals offer/interest sheet yet. Start looking up the SC players on D and you'll see what I'm talking about.
