The Bears have come a long way since the year started but they have to stop turning the ball over. The only way they win tonight is if they take care of the ball and play good D on Lott and Memorial's big (Chapman?). Being at home will help this young team. They have the talent but need to learn to win.
BEARCAT is "keeping it real."
Dove, there are quacks in every profession and I think Nash has found one in his Big 12 scout. To evaluate a player in his secondary sport is crazy.Example Coby Couron's role on the Ned. Basketball team is very limited. His role on the Football team was someone who led by example with high intensity because the program viewed him as a vital part of success. If a scout passed him up for what he saw on the basketball court,It would be that Football programs loss. What would impress me as a scout is that Coby has decided to give up basketball this season to put on more size and strength to help him at the next level.I know it will hurt the Ned. basketball team that Washington and Couron have made a tough decision.I hope they understand.
Momma? Is it you? I should have known ;D
My brother from another mother (Steve Nash) said, "I was told, in person, by a head coach in the Big 12, that when he is evaluating players for scholarships, he can tell in five minutes more about who he wants by watching them on the basketball court than he can on the football field. I meant you can't hide your character as much on a basketball court. The thing with young teams is that they are too unpredictable. It can go either way. -
Dove you truly do not know the character of the two Nederland players to make a comment like you did.I promise you these two do not need to hide behind pads. They have great character!
My comment had nothing to do with Nederland players. It was in reference to Nash's comment about a football coach recruiting observations from the court. I just so happen to know who he is referring to.... Now tell me you're sorry!!!

If so, I hate to hear that. This is couron's last year and i think he will regret that decision later. On the other side of the coin, both these boys have a good chance to play football at the next level. So maybe that has something to do with there decision. If it does and they are both wanting to heal up and reduce the risk of injury, i don't blame them. As for the team goes, it would be nice to have that extra size in there to give Weisbrod a break, which could help late in games. IMO... the dogs will be just fine and will continue to improve.
I was told, in person, by a head coach in the Big 12, that when he is evaluating players for scholarships, he can tell in five minutes more about who he wants by watching them on the basketball court than he can on the football field.
An early morning practice was scheduled to help with the learning curve for the FB kids. Two kids showed up excited, and the other two didn't show. If they don't want to be a part of the team, then so be it. Kimler and Shaw will attribute plenty to the team. Central QB Mitchell has Lamar Offer

I hope the best for Robert. He may get a D1a school to offer this late, but not likely. Most probably already have their QB's lined up and unless he has been talking to coaches consistently the bigger offer probably won't come. Not impossible - just not likely this late. Now if he was still playing, like the Georgetown QB, hat could change some minds.
You're right but I don't think the bigger schools are recruiting him to play QB anyway. I'm sure Lamar is but he projects more as an "athlete" for the FBS schools. I think an FBS school like Texas State, UTSA, or North Texas could eventually offer him if he runs well on his recruiting trip. A lot of lower tier FBS schools give out late December or January offers to seniors after their top targeted commit to bigger schools. For example, here's UTSA offer sheet. Since they're a lower tier school you see more than usual October through December commits than the normal FBS sheet which is why I think when the dust clears around mid-January he'll have better offers. And we can all agree Nederland and Silsbee don't run from competition ;)
Tell em Dogs- Actually, in my experience, there is nothing better than to be continually told by the "experts" why your team is insufficient in so many areas and why they are going to lose. It makes those "unexpected victories" so much more rewarding.
I think the experts should be those who play tougher schedules

They had problems with pressing teams (H-J). They had problems with bigger teams (Central ). Since those loses, they have key wins vs those teams. Also, take into account that Nederland has already beaten Silsbee, that will add to the confidence factor. I know it's Silsbee's first home game of the year. But I dont think they will be rattled. They've played in a hostile environment (PA) and left with a win.
Memorial Guards are not like Silsbee guards !!! Don't 4get, Silsbee did Manhandle Memorial a couple weeks ago...
