The UIL needs to shuffle numbers, bump 5A bottom numbers up, play local 5A and split come playoff time like 6A does. These 5A districts are getting ridiculous.

AGREED…would definitely be nice if they’d go back to that cause this TOTAL shuffling of the Districts every 2 years is MADNESS!!  Even after they started splitting division I and II in District, it was still relatively grouped by location/travel distance but not anymore!!  I don’t wanna be “that person” but it’s getting REAL hard not to think there’s a lot of fishy manipulation and politics going on!!

Todd Dodge picking a coach for Nederland and playing in the same class?

He doesn’t necessarily pick the coach…just assists in narrowing down the list of applicants then makes a recommendation out of the top 3-5 candidates but ultimate decision is made by School Board and Superintendent.  However, I’m sure he probably has to complete the consulting job with Nederland, if he hasn’t already, prior to signing on the dotted line at Lovejoy.  5A div II just got A LOT more interesting with the LEGEND back in the game…lol!

Exactly. I mean, I don’t think there was a resulting problem overall, but you can’t blame that mid county ref calling the PNG game on a shortage.

I just meant, the likelihood of there being at least ONE referee on a ”NEUTRAL” crew who has SOME sort of connection to either team is a greater possibility due to the overall shortage of officials.  I’m sure in this situation, both coaches agreed on the Houston crew but understandably didn’t have time to research the background and residence of each one so it is what it is.  But, I do think that guy probably should’ve removed HIMSELF from the get go to prevent this exact scenario.

  4. Pretty sure the PI and gloves controversy was about SOC because their colors are BLACK/GOLD/WHITE so the ONLY reason select players, mainly DB’s and OL would be wearing PURPLE gloves vs PNG, POWDER BLUE vs Emerson, RED vs Lovejoy…etc is because they’re PURPOSELY trying to hide PI’s and holding from the officials in order to gain a edge!!   Maybe there’s no rule against it, but I think it’s flat out “dirty strategy”

If he's the same big lineman that played in last year's championship game, he spent pretty much the whole game trying to keep his pants pulled up. I mean no disrespect whatsoever towards the young man, and wish him the best. I'm just saying that he had trouble with his football pants in last year's title game. A larger problem for PNG in last year's game was pass coverage on defense, and (IMO) a worn out running back on offense. (Very simply put.)

Not the same guy….”Big Bubba” graduated and is now wearing PURPLE…playing for TCU 😝

It's easy. Allow the commercial feed straight to NDN Press for the YouTube stream. Double the exposure for the sponsors. Then get Bally's to use the kids during a special 10 min segment of the real broadcast. They can also do a whole feature on the program during the halftime show. This is all for the kids. All those involved. The cheer, dance, band, and now broadcast team. They need to feature this for all schools to see the potential.

    Common sense solutions people

Those are GREAT suggestions!!  They’ve done a INCREDIBLE job and even more IMPRESSIVE that it’s their FIRST year to do it so I hope they’ll be allowed to participate in some fashion…gotta get that W this week first 😉

It is a FOOTBALL game NOT a band contest.

I guarantee the last thing on the coaches mind when picking the field was the band or drill team.

If none of the bands or drill teams showed up this game it would still be played.........

Well, you’re right that the game would still be played and maybe the MAJORITY of coaches don’t put much thought into accommodating the band, drill team, or fans when making decisions like this but that’s not how we roll at PNG!!

Lake Creek is probably the most overrated #1 team I can remember in awhile they gave up 27 points tonight vs. a terrible Austin Crockett offense...PN-G will have a field day vs Lake Creek defense next week that's my only prediction

No disrespect to LC cause I’m sure they’ll be our toughest test yet, however I agree the #1 ranking seems quite overrated.  But same story last year with “big bad” FBM and Liberty Hill who were ranked above us right up until they WEREN’T….lol!

PNG’s crowd is amazing, but I will say Katy has sold out their side of Legacy Stadium multiple times since it’s been built. You can find pictures with the Katy crowd overflowing onto the hills.

True…I’m sure home side has sold many time.  PNG was told by KATY ISD that last years Semi Final was the first time the ENTIRE stadium had sold out…we filled up our side and almost half of Liberty Hills plus overflow onto the hills…it was CRAZY…lol!

They also have a different head coach.  Jamaal Fenner built up the program but left after last season and is now in charge of High School relations for the University of Texas.

Oh yeah, seems like I do recall hearing their coach left.  Should be a good game!  I’ve got family in Huntsville who are very involved with school district and athletic booster club…solid program, GREAT fan base and their Superintendent is a PNG grad so I’m definitely pulling for them to get the W!

We will be fine at Legacy. We sold it out for the Semi-final game and many Indian fans and other fans from the area sat on the LH side.  The lady working concessions told me it was the first time she had saw a side entirely sold out and that they were running out of certain items in the concessions. I am unaware if its true or not. I already have been told that some of my friend's from Nederland are coming and that quite a few will be there. Also a family I met after the Brenham game said to expect some Green and White amongst the Purple and White. So whomever makes it Ty we welcome your support. Come be part of our family if you desire. You will be welcomed with open arms. Also Ty to all the area folks who support us in the playoffs. We are blessed to have you.

Credible sources did confirm it was the first sale out for that stadium.  Liberty Hill brought a really good crowd too but it was probably 75% PNG fans…lol!  Hopefully the Indian Nation Stadium Tour and pep rally’s at Buc-ee’s continues for several more weeks 😁
