I agree with that whole heartedly, I haven't seen Kountze play football this year. I thought he was still the main cog in their football team.

I believe Parquet was hampered with a bad back yesterday, I wasn't there but I think he missed the last ball game. I know he is a gamer and if he takes a back seat it is probably going to be to get someone else involved. I watched him a lot last year and the brighter the lights the better he played. Gonna be a fun year , I'm ready for some hoops

I wasn't talking about playing hurt. I had heard he may graduate early and enroll at Baylor. If that's the case I certainly understand getting on campus and started in the program in Waco. Just from watching the young man play I don't think for a second he is worried about getting injured playing basketball.

That would be a huge blow to the Lions however if it is related to his scholarship to Baylor you can't blame him. Those scholarships were worth a fortune before the football team became relevant now they are even more valuable.

I made mention of Parquet after last seasons playoff game that he played and did a super job with cracked ribs. Kid is tough as a boot and is a sophomore. He is going to be one to watch not only this season but several more to boot.

That was more of a question than a response. I watched Kountze a lot last year and knew there big guy was senior. They had Graylon and a real good shooter on the wing. That was a 3 out of a 6 or 7 man rotation. I just was curious about such a lofty ranking without a lot of depth. Usually the Lions have really good clubs in the under classes. As long as the have Arnold they will be a contender.

I know the Lions have Arnold back which makes them a good pick. Didn't they lose one to graduation and one that moved ?If so they may not be a state power, they weren't real deep last year and the underclass squads were not very strong. Look for EC to be very much improved , even with a late start.

The # 24 in 4A may have a decent club this year. Looks like they have most of the power house clubs scheduled, plus the Gamble classic. Let's get this thing tipped off.

I don't know enough about the previous Vidor coach to even offer an opinion but I know they have a good one at the helm now. The district is brutal but they will play as well as they are capable of playing. Good luck Coach Williams and the Pirates !!

I believe HJ went 4-1 with wins over Ozen, Memorial, Lufkin and Crosby and a 5 point loss to Central.

It's very unusual in high school basketball for your 11-15 players on your bench to come in and wreak havoc.There are some advantages to platooning , fresh legs and foul trouble but there are some big time disadvantages as well. Flow is everything in most basketball games and it is hard to establish looking that far down the bench. This type substitution pattern often lets you annihilate weaker teams with not much but depth but doesn't affect your better teams much.

My comments were directed more toward an entire freshman class than a couple of individuals. If you can add one talented incoming freshman to a solid core group every year you have a chance to be really good consistently.

I wouldn't bet the farm on what an eighth grade class accomplished. It's been my observation that if you have a lot of incoming freshman on your varsity you are usually 3 or 4 years away from being really good.

I wouldn't live anywhere to start with that didn't offer very good academics, but I never hear of anyone moving to follow the chemistry program
