  1. Warren in a close, low scoring contest. I think you're right, this will be decided by turnovers. The team with the least mistakes wins this one and gets one step closer to being the sleeper team for the playoffs in this district. (which will be tough to do)
  2. I'm going with Hardin on this one in a great game! This will be one of the hardest offenses to defend all year for Deweyville on diversity alone. This game will open some eyes for a lot of people one way or the other. I'm thinking of going to this one instead of WH-Huntington..... :-X...... Nah, I can't do that to my boys.
  3. Kountze did a great job. The posts are right, the refs were awful. They missed obvious calls on both sides. I yelled from the stands, "we don't want to win like that!!" I guess they heard me, they started giving the cruddy calls to us ;D. West Hardin came out knocking heads, man those kids were hitting! This was one of the greatest games I have watched in a long time. It had it all! All I can say about that catch Lopez made on that tip ball while laying on the ground was WOW!! One of the best catches I have seen at any level this year and it got the first down to turn the tide for for the Oilers. Great concentration on his part. Hats off to all players on both sides!!
  4. This used to be one of WH's worst enemies. But the parent wasn't usually just a fan, they were on, or in cahoots with the school board. Whether the head coach was a good one or not, if he valued his job, he had better play that kid. I don't know if that's as bad anymore, but I'm a firm believer in letting the coach, coach. In a perfect world, parents would have no say so over any aspect of a football game, but its not perfect by any means. That being said, I think its fine for parents to watch practice and help coach their kids in their own time, but some of them just need to butt out and realize they aren't a part of the decision making process on the field. If your kid isn't playing, its probably because his current athletic skill or knowledge of position isn't at the level of the kid playing. Push the kid to improve in the weight room or on the track, don't push the coach to play him just because.
  5. We've got a group of about 10 or so that sits up in the WH stands, but a few of us have received letters from out school addressing our cheering. The letter basically told us to settle down or we would be banned. This was brought on by other fans complaining that we were "bothering" them. It has quieted a few of us, but not all. I hope it doesn't lead to some of their most devout fans getting banned, that would be a tragedy. I say, if its too loud, you're too old!! ITS A FOOTBALL GAME!! GO SCRUBS!
  6. Iola, because of the ant beds alone. Not to mention pot holes and stinging weed and chain link fence 5 feet past the endzone.
  7. The game for me is when we travel to H-D's house for a possible district championship match-up between these two rivals. Small town head knockin' goin on! ...the answers to this thread will probably be different for everyone on here depending on which school they are from.
  8. I apologize. Once again, Deweyville wins this game decisively.
  9. Are you saying we're bad kids?? :'( ..or just mischevous? Either way, I know its got to be a full time job.
  10. Groveton beat WH 22-14 and then dropped 2 straight to Hardin 37-15 and Corrigan 34-28. Warren can beat Groveton if they come to play. This should be a great one to watch.
  11. Congrats on 30k posts COOP! ....where do you find the time??
  12. Alto no poodle. But I think they do have a breeding program up there for people. They're like the 300 Spartans or something. Babies that are not perfect are discarded. They are taught football from the time they can walk. Toddlers push the big wooden wheel like Arnold on Conan. I agree, they don't rebuild, just reload. yeah, yeah. And WOS is pretty-O.K. too. ;D
  13. Nothing wrong with 1A football! > Them's fightin words, ya hear!! ...I'm joking. I know what you mean.
  14. Really? ...I see Buna winning pretty decisively. I guess that's why they play the games, right? HS football isn't just about playing tough teams in a schedule. Its about rivalries and tradition. At WH, I can't stand it when we don't play HD or Hardin. These are just two games that makes the year for us. Its not always a close match-up if a team is really strong or one is really weak, but it is part of our tradition, regardless of enrollment numbers.
  15. This should be a good one. Groveton by 10, coming off their near win with Corrigan Camden.
  16. Kountze is a good team this year, but the reason Hardin scored as many as they did is that spread offense. Its gonna be hard to slow them down for anyone. I don't see Kountze winning 35-0, I would bet on that. If they do, hats off to them. I'll watch 24-AA games from here on out, because its gonna be a ride in that district (it is anyway). WH is 0-3 and Kountze is 3-0. Don't let that fool you.
  17. Woodville is a good team, so I'll give it to Splendora. Seems like they always play hard. I think the #3 spot is up for grabs between Splendora, Shepherd and Cleveland. It'll go to who wants it more. Tarkington has played some very tough schools (even though they are 2A), but they have been handed some quality butt whoopins'. I don't think they win a game, unless someone comes out unsuspecting and overconfident and they happen to squeak one out.
  18. Is Jasper also a weak 3A? Hamshire was in the top 15 in the area wide 3A rankings before the EC game. Seems like when a smaller school beats a bigger school, the bigger school becomes weak, instead of the smaller school having the remote chance of being strong. :-\
  19. ....Its the size of the fight in the DAWG!!! :-* Thanks BH96.
  20. One of the only things I enjoyed watching last week was #45 from West Hardin as Hardin strummed on them. Patrick Kelly looks like one of the smaller players on the field, but he was rocking some peoples' world. That kid can lay a lick on somebody.
