  1. My sophomore year, we went 0-for 10 at WH. We had 2 seniors on the team, and one of them was injured. 6 of our starters were out, and we had 17 kids on the varsity squad to begin with. We played at EC and they were very strong that year. I was sidelined with an injury watching our boys get outscored 42-0 in the first quarter. I think the final was 72-0. Since then, the EC-WH games were pretty close, though EC has won the majority (I think), this was the worst game I've been to/ watched/ played in, any or all of the above. What about the Newton/Sealy game? Wasn't that 80-6 or something. Did anybody see that one?
  2. I don't think they run up the score. 40 - 50 points is safe! 60 - 80 is a little much but they only did that against Burkeville with their 2nd string in. You can't help that. People who think 35-7 is safe haven't watched much TX high school football. Buna hasn't done anything wrong, in my books.
  3. I didn't see any blatent hits to take a player out during this game. : What I did see for a fact, was a group of Kountze fans cussing our boys and saying something about a cheap shot. I also watched a Koutnze player cheapshot our QB/Kicker twice in a row after he had clearly kicked the PAT. But nobody's whining, and I'm not holding it against all Kountze fans. There are always a few bad apples in every group.
  4. I like when West Sabine plays "eye of the tiger", I just didnt' like it last year in the playoffs against WH. :'( I also like when a band plays "the final countdown"... still gets me a little pumped.
  5. I've stuck my neck out on a few posts, and was smitten harshly for it. No matter, I took my lashings as it was for a just cause. He He.
  6. Okay, WH had 6 starters on the Homecoming court last night for the full 30 minute halftime. This was not cool. Homecoming is a big distraction, even though it is a rich tradition.
  7. Kountze by 10. They don't quit, but don't expect Anahuac to lay down after getting manhandled by Buna. They'll play like they've got something to prove.
  8. Can't go against PN-G. They're always tough, though LCM is playing some pretty tough ball this year. Hmmm.... PNG-24 LCM-21
  9. EC by 3 td's. Their offense has a few less dimensions than Hardin's, but Lord whata dimension at QB. I think Deweyville comes out fighting, but EC pulls away.
  10. Even though Warren's offense has sputtered so far, they have a defense that can be stingy. But.... Hardin is loaded, and that two headed monster is hard to stop. I agree with WHalum but I'm giving Hardin another TD. Hardin 34 Warren 13
  11. Alto has the speed to handle Huntington. I don't see Huntington scoring more than once or twice and Alto putting up 50+. Huntington has a big, physical fullback and a quick qb, and an elusive hb, but I don't think they compare to the Yellowjackets at the skill positions, regardless. WH hasn't had any problems with a big bruising back, and held Huntington's to very few yards. It was the qb and hb on all of those traps and counters the killed us last night. Way to come away with the win boys!! Kelly's JV is a warmup game for district. Don't get anyone hurt.
  12. So now Lumberton isn't a good team, its just that Dayton is bad. Ya'll don't ever quit. Face it, the Raiders have a pretty good squad this year, and no, they don't eat crow. All of the smack talk this last week was directed towards The Dayton Broncos and the Lumberton Raider's game.
  13. Wow!! What a game boys!! Ya'll played hard and got the W. This one was as exciting as the Kountze game!!
  14. Great Job Raiders!! People underestimating you can be a great boost of motivation. Should be a great race to the playoffs!!
  15. Dang!! Didn't expect it from New Caney. Good Job. Go get em' next week Falcons.
  16. Yeah, I have to agree there. I played at Sam State and we had a kid that was the fastest in the conference, and he ran a 4.34 for an NFL scout. He was an all american in track. 2 4.3's on a H.S. team is unheard of. When most people say 4.2 & 4.3 they mean 4.4 and 4.5. ;D That being said, I saw some of the Dayton kids run track last year, and they are fast, but its not a track meet, its a football game. Good luck Bronco's and Good luck Raider's. Hope its a great matchup tonight!!
  17. He he. Hey Scooter, I like the bald picture of Brittany Spears better. Why don't you have that one? (Yes, i'm talkin about when she shaved her head) :-[
  18. Wow!! I hate to see the boards after this game is over, whoever wins. Fire up the pit boys!! Start cookin that bird! Somebody's gonna eat em' some crow tonight! ;D
  19. It seems to be a little of both. The stands are always a lot more full during homecoming and a little extra motivation coming from a larger, louder crowd (usually with home fans on the visitor side, too). But the distractions cannot be overlooked. Its all hype during the week and usually it is few of the starters that escort the girls, so they are taken out of a lot of the halftime speaches and adjustments. I'm thinking the glitter of homecoming is a little more of a distraction than a helper, but that's TX high school football. Homecoming is a rich tradition in my opinion, and important part of celebrating your school's past and presence. That being said, WH-Huntington tonight at West Hardin's homecoming. Go Oilers!!
