  1. Looks like they lost alot!  And two pitchers at that.  So, in looking at that, there are several large holes to fill in the line-up, but Bridge City never seems to run out of baseball talent so that shouldn't pose too big a problem.  I guess the thing to do is sit back and see what happens....................and go to the gym and support the basketball team!!!!!!

  2. This sounds like it is going to be another bash Coach Bryant topic. I really doubt he has said that 2 freshmen would certainly be on varsity, so get over yourselves till you see it.

I for one am not bashing anybody, but asked an honest question for someone who might be able to intelligently answer it.  If there are a lack of pitchers at the varsity level and there are two boys who are heads and shoulders above the rest at chunking the ball, then doesn't matter what grade they are in, I would think.  I just wanted to know if this may be the case, and that was why I asked for any guys who may know the baseball situation better than I.

So, anyone that knows exactly who BC lost last year, please respond because I don't know them all.

  3. How many did varsity players graduated from last years team?  Lots of sophs were pulled up during the playoffs last season, so I would assume they are varsity players to start this season.  That being said, I don't think there is alot of room for players on the team, much less freshmen, but that's just my humble opinion!  Are these freshmen pitchers??????  And are they good?  I think for a freshman to be put above some of the kids I know there, they better be exceptional players, heads above the upperclassmen they will move over and I am having a hard time justifying that........but I am not a coach so that is an honest question that if any of you guys can answer, please do!

  4. DISCIPLINE is helpful.

You can't allow a player to "take himself out of a game" for this reason or that reason.  You have a backup...use him.

Parents, etc. who will allow the HC do his job...he is THE COACH and gets paid to do HIS JOB.  I have heard different people from BC say that many, many times...player's parents/grandparents run for the school board because of the influence that they can have.  That's bogus...you need a commitment to being better from your players, parents, and community.

Hit the weightroom and track...don't take the easy way out.  Work out in pads every day that you practice (after two-a-days start).  Realize and address problems.

I think DISCIPLINE is very helpful!  And it should begin on the practice field first, in the locker room second, and then the playing field on Friday nights.  I may have this all wrong, but I do not believe all athletes should play football.  I think it is only for the type of kid that has that grit and guts to go back out on the field when they are getting pounded by alot and still try to make a play or make a difference.  Some kids have that grit, some don't.  To me, football is a tough game and it takes tough athletes to play and then when you get a bunch of tough kids together, you have a good football team.  Bridge City has not gotten to that point.  They have a few kids that have that talent, but not all of them.  And I also think that when a team beats you by so much, then the consequences of how your practice goes following that beating also makes you a better team.  And in football, I think the consequences should be tough where it makes the team tougher and more determined not to get beat that way in the next game.  And there has to be a certain pride there for the school you suit up for, win or lose, it still has to be there every game, every play, during the school song at the end of the game all the way to the locker room and some even lacked that this year.  Hopefully in the off season, things will begin to come together for the Cardinals and they will at least be competetive next season.  We'll be there to cheer ya on!

  5. Its pretty obvious, that some one's little baby didnt get mentioned and they went off on the guy that hurt there feelings. Its pretty bad when you start pointing fingers at other kids, because your little baby didnt get mentioned ! How can you sit there and point your finger !!!! Thats what wrong with this town now, little crying mommies for there babies ! The other night, the whole team looked horriable, not just one kid. the team !!!Get off the kids Ok, your acting like little spoiled brats ! Orangefield is gonna win this one, because there getting better, and were not !! Believe me, I wish we could win just 1 game for the kids, not the little whiners in this town. And I pull for Orangefield every week but one, sorry, thats my opoin.

ummmmm where did this come from??????  And hasn't most of the posts here been about how it is not one person but a bunch that need to pull together?  I guess I am a little confused by what you are really trying to say................and I happen to be one of the mom's here and would like to know if you directed this to me, because if so, then say so.  And who went off other than to say that not one person should be singled out to carry the team and that there are a whole bunch that have to pull together to win??????  Just curious.  And to say get off the kids............well, maybe it's time they had a little dose of reality and stop being babied and told they are the best athlete out there and they have to carry the whole team etc.  Its TEAM and the quicker they realize that, the better off they will be.  Yeah the whole team needs to toughen up or join the chess club, and that's my opinion

  6. Good post BCbacker and Gabe.  I have printed my copy and will have it posted till next season!  I have watched these guys from the time they were 6 years old and I believe this is a very special group of athletes.  I have seen them do things that I wouldn't think they could especially in baseball and I think it's because they have that special drive and will to win and at the time when they need to the most, they become one and when that happens, they are awesome.  These group of juniors and sophs are a special group that only comes around every so often and I do believe that they will be a team to contend with next season and the next.  I also think that now that Coach Stump will get the best out of them in the season's to come and I too believe we will see some very exciting football in the very near future.  They are having their big helping of humble pie,  but will learn from it and be better because of it.  I will support these guys from here on out and hope we pack the stands on Friday and get loud to cheer these boys on.  I believe we will be celebrating a victory when the last second ticks off the clock!  Good luck guys and keep working hard............it's going to pay off!  BC by 10

  7. cograts to #4,5,50,53,11,9 & 20 I know I'm missing some. These guys are the heart of this team for hanging in there all season and believing in the new sys. I saw one kid get hit when he caught the ball. He rolled around on the ground like a cut monkey screaming and hollering. He came limping off the field and put some ice on his back and watched the cheerleaders for a few downs and then went back in the game. Thats what is a matter with this team not the coach. The QB turned the game over to the back up and would have gladly watched the whole game from the side lines if the back up qb wouldn't have went out w/ a concusion.

I have to agree with you, and may I add #3 to your list.  He's been busted over and over receiving, and he still goes back in and will go up and try to catch a pass in double coverage, but he gives everything he has and it's not for himself, it's for the team that he plays for and his other buddies who are taking the same beating.  He was the one with the iced back, and it got hurt in the first game and hasn't stopped hurting yet, but I promise you, he won't complain or stay on the sideline for long.  And there are several boys like that out there, and I think they are the heart and soul of BC Cards and these guys need to take over the leadership role and get some sort of unity within.  I am proud of him and you other guys for hanging in there.

  8. Shame on you cardmom and eagle12. You both just prove the bc has more than fair share of whiners and finger pointers. Your QB is an exceptional kid and I am sure he gives you everything he has. If there was a better option wouldn't your coach go to it. Or does he owe some special allegience to DB.

    Grow up kiddos!!

You tell me, does he?  I don't have a clue if he has a better option or not, and I never said that the QB is not an exceptional kid, did I?  I just said I disagreed to the statement that he has to carry this entire team to win.  Do you think he has carried the team.................if so, you have not attended any BC games and that's nothing against the QB, it's just facts, because he certainly is not carrying anybody.  I don't question he is hurt, so are most of the other kids out there, but I don't come on here and say the WR or running back has to carry the entire Cardinal team on their poor hurt body,  and believe me, they have taken many more hits.  So my comment was to a person that acts like he is the only player out there and if he isn't, they are nothing, that is a joke.

  9. hmmm.........

Im going with  of 27 bc 21

I think it depends on the health of bc quaterback  I think he will be the best athlete on the field it just depends if he can carry the entire cardinal team on his banged up body.

I seriously don't see him carrying the entire team on his back.............that appears to be the other way around and right now, the team is trying to carry him.  The statement that he is the best athlete on the field is not very accurate either..........there are a number of athletes out there who go out every game, get busted up, hurt, bruised, but they go back out on the field and play for the team, no matter how bad they are aching and hurting from the hits they have taken.  So, these are the guys carrying this team now and remember it's "team" and that is the key word here.  And hats off to the guys on this team that play every chance they get, suck it up and never want to let on that they are hurt because they don't want to let their team down.  You guys are the real athletes, and as long as you keep playing like you do, good things will eventually happen.  You are the ones now that have to step up and be the leaders that this team desperately needs.

  10. I think there is quite a bit of talent on the BC team, it's young but the talent is there.  I believe interceptions are a problem, and it's hard to see the guys get all the way down the field and give the ball to the other team on a turnover, but that happens.  I personally think that the teams biggest problem is tackling and blocking.  I know in the Silsbee game, Lemoine saved at least 5 touchdowns at the safety position.  The opposing player just blew by everyone, they grab at them, slap at them, but don't wrap them up and take them down.  And I have to say, thank heavens Josh was back there or the score would've been 100 to 6.  It looks like these guys (with the exception of a few) are scared to hit or are scared to be hit.

I've attended several BC games, I'm just curious as to what talent you are talking about?

  11. Good Luck to all the Cards this friday......................go out and play every down like it's the last time you will ever take the field in the red and white and most importantly, never give up and never let up and never stop believing in the guy standing beside you!

    Go get em' Cards!

    BC wins by 7!
