2019 FOOTBALL TEAM PREVIEWS PORT ARTHUR MEMORIAL TITANS 2018 Record: 9-2 Overall, 6-1 District District 9-5A-I Runner Ups Many schools would consider a 9-1 regular season quite a success. Considering that the only 2 losses of the season were to district champ New Caney and eventual Region III Finalist Richmond Foster, the Titan faithful would be right to consider the 2018 season a successful one. However, the short stay in the Class 5A, Division I playoffs is not something that second year Head Coach Brian Morgan wants to repeat in 2019. Morgan brings back 6 starters on each side of the ball in hopes of having a longer stay in the playoffs. Head Coach: Brian Morgan Assistant Coaches: Korey Mangum (Defensive Coordinator), Rashard Colquitt (Offensive Coordinator), Robert Conley (Offensive Line), Josh Miller (Tight Ends/Strength and Conditioning), Arlington Nunn (Running Backs), Ahmad Smith (Quarterback), Van Sallier (Assistant Offensive Line), Quinton Johnson (Assistant Offensive Line), Darrell Granger (Wide Receivers), Dwight Scypion (Defensive Ends), Jarrett Thibodeaux (Defensive Tackles), Ronnie Jones (Linebackers), Kevin Henry (Cornerbacks), Clint Hoverson (Assistant Defensive Line) Offense: Six starters return to the Memorial offense in 2019. Senior Brian Milton should be the front runner for the starting quarterback in the Titan offense. Leading the rushing attack will be Brandon Chaney (1st team all-district) but expect Jatavian Neal to see some carries. Senior tight end David Moore (1st team all-district at fullback in 2018) will return to the Titan passing game along with senior wide outs Alex Ned (1st team all-district) and Tavian Gipson and junior Tyrence Augusta (who may also be counted on in the running game). Senior offensive tackle Trey Rodgers (1st team all-district), junior guard Tre'vonte Caines (2nd team all-district) and sophomore offensive tackle Kristopher Ryan-Ross will be counted on to protect things up front. Defense: Six starters return to the Memorial defense in 2019. Senior defensive tackles Keoni Evans (1st team all-district) and Donaven Jackson (2nd team all-district) and junior defensive end Jordan Thomas (2nd team all-district) will team with Moore, at defensive end, on the defensive line. Neal (1st team all-district at cornerback) will anchor the Titan secondary along with senior safety Kolton Mitchell (2nd team all-district). The late starting Pirates never found their footing as they struggled to a 3-7 season. No, they don't because of one of the points you made in an earlier post. That is I think that the loss of Greg Neece and Josh Foster might be harder to replace than some think as they both brought a passing game that Newton had lacked in previous years. I might feel better about their streak if Nate Williams had remained in Newton. But that leaves a big question mark in an area that I think was crucial to Newton's run. New OC Tabor Westbrook and Dom Seastrunk may very well be able to answer that question and prove me wrong. Despite the loss of Barlow, Kevin Watson, Zach Gulley and Val Fowler will be able to take up the slack in the running game. On defense, the front seven will be fine but the secondary has some questions. Right now, I see Silsbee taking them. But if they get past Silsbee, then their chances of running the table increase dramatically.

As to Coach Riordan, news of his move to Splendora came about a week after I got questionnaire answers from both Coach Preito and Coach Schulz.
-
This was the info Coach Prieto gave me. Of course, the name of the new running backs coach caught my eye.
-
He retired in March.

Well, you may want to talk to Coach Prieto about that.

I learned today that Hunter Williams, the right fielder on the Wildcats' 2018 state championship team and the 2017 state final, was shot and killed this morning. Our sympathies are with Hunter's family and the Dallardsville community, as well as Coach Hooker on the loss of one of his boys.
