Sometimes UIL Doesn't Quite get it right.

I know the UIL allows you to play up in classification. What about instituting a buffer of maybe 5 or 10 students that allows you to play down? It seems like its a hard number and in Deweyville's case they got hosed because they had 2 extra kids. Does 2 kids make that it worth all of the money they will spend and time these kids have to be away from the classroom?!? School is still supposed to be about education first, right?
A 20 student buffer either way would help to clean up some of the mess.
And what happens to a team right below that buffer? There is always gonna have to a hard number that separates the classes. And there will always be someone who is the smallest in a class. It just happens! Do you want to get to the root of the problems of those like those that face Deweyville and Sabine Pass? Then look at this Division I/Division II crap that was implemented during the 2010 realignment for 2A and 1A. Anyone could see that this was going to stretch travel budgets and downright bust others, but look to your respective supers because they are the ones that approved it. -
Couldn't deweyville opt to play in Div. 1 of 2A and go back to the old district? You can't raise the number for 1A because there are already more 1A schools in spring sports than any other classification.
I think the opt up is only for classification purposes, not for division purposes. I could definitely be wrong but I think that is the case. -

At this point, we probably are close to having contracts signed for these games so movement from other teams to accomodate this game probably would not work. -
Are you out of your mind? :o
Are you crazy? K-ville has dominated their old district for a while. The new district is gonna be a cake walk for them. You think Hardin, Anahauc or EC is gonna stop them. lol
Over the last 2 years, Newton, EC, Anahuac, Buna or Woodville would have been playoff teams in 18-3A over the last couple of years had they been placed there. A young Kirbyville team that would have had serious trouble even sniffing the playoffs out of 10-2A-I last year made the playoffs out of 18-3A. Don't get me wrong, a tough top to bottom 10-2A-I got that much tougher after yesterday with Kirbyville joining it. But a cakewalk for Kirbyville it will not be. -

How about the two baytown schools losing BH , Dayton and Crosby to travel to galveston, pearland, friendswood, texas city and santa fe. Talk about some late night travels! All three baytown schools are getting hosed. Sterling was about 200 kids shy of moving to 4a while lee had room for 500-600 more kids while staying 4a. Doesnt make sense.
REL was the southern most school in the current 19-4A alignment. The UIL looked to replace Manvel and there was REL as the "best" fit geographicaly. GCM must go where REL goes. In two years the only thing that would change that is if GCM has 5A numbers (or possibly RSS has 4A numbers. Not happening). The UIL has said you cannot have 3 classifications in a school district. SO, even if REL drops to 3A numbers, GCM must have some growth or RSS must drop in enrollment. If not, REL will have to play 4A with 3A numbers.
Doesn't HISD have 5A, 4A and now 3A schools?
They will in 2012. -
Congrats to all! And if there is someone who needs to be added to the list, THEN ADD 'EM!
-
I see Buna this way. They are probably on the outside looking in, but can be considered a "dark horse" for a playoff spot and definitely have the ability to impact the standings in 21-3A.
Yep, keep these *district* notes because thats about all the history from here on out ;D
Perhaps, we should just mail in the next 10-12 trophies over to the HISD Athletic Offices and just cancel the those corresponding basketball seasons? Give me a break. -

Here are the non-district opponents for 2012-13 and 2013-14 for H-D Scrimmage - Sabine Pass Scrimmage - Warren Week 0 - Hardin Week 1 - Kountze Week 2 - Groveton Week 3 - Lovelady Week 4 - Deweyville Week 5 - Galveston O'Connell Week 6 - Normangee Week 7 - OPEN -
In the initial e-mails, I e-mailed Coach Stark (West Sabine), Coach Hancock (Dayton) and Coach Hartsfield (Kelly). I have not received a response from any of them. Coach Hartsfield may be having to go back to the drawing board as some of the games that from looking at others that were scheduled have gone by the wayside because of the realignment yesterday.

UIL Football Districts for 2012-13 and 2013-14 School Years
North Forest needs to close and let those kids have a chance somewhere else!
Well, that will probably be the case. North Forest ISD is appealing the closure order by the TEA but it is widely believed that the appeal will be denied. I believe that the UIL putting North Forest High in this realignment was just an attempt to cover all contingiencies. I truly believe that they will not be around when the 2012-23 school year rolls around.
