    Shadow Creek is to Silsbee as KIPP Northeast in to WO-S.....simply an opportunity to play a 10th game this season.

    A lot of attention is being placed on a game that has, aside from bragging rights, little bearing on either school's season. A win by either school won't guarantee a state championship...a loss will not cost either school an opportunity. It is an important game as it will provide a barometer for both Coach Smith and Coach Thompson going toward district and, hopefully, beyond as it will give them an idea on what areas, if any, still need work.

    That is why you see a bevy of Thursday and Saturday night Texas HS football games. But on Friday, the UIL doesn't want you in front of the couch but rather at the stadium, because this year they get 16% of the game (up from 15% last year). Here is the text of the rule (UIL Constitution, Section 868): "(c) LIVE FOOTBALL TELECAST LIMITED. UIL member schools shall not permit the live telecast of a regular season football game on a Friday night. Live telecasts and other types of live broadcasts of UIL football post-regular season games shall be permitted if provided for in a UIL broadcast rights contract."

    Cupcakes? You do realize that the first opponent on Silsbee's schedule this year is PN-G, correct? And that it will also include a defending state champ (one that has bested PN-G in recent years) and another that is just off of a state championship a couple of years before? With "giants" like Goose Creek Memorial, Livingston, Baytown Lee and Ozen on your schedule, I think it is a little fool hearty of you to point to others' "cupcakes." I think my friends from PN-G will surely counsel you to measure the diameter of your mouth before you speak again, for it seems you are destined to place your foot in it.
