Boy! Isn't that the truth!

LOL! That conversation happened about a month ago. The leading candidate to take over the QB spot is Marcus Ward. He's the QB that led the Brahmas to the Regional Final two years ago.

Absolutely, Coach Landry deserves nothing but our thanks for building the program back up to a place it hasn't been since Ronnie Anderson retired. Good luck to him (well, with the exception of two set dates and possibly a few more) in Cardinal land. I have to pass on kudos to Coach Chad Landry at Bridge City. Not only is he is good coach, but he has also been able to garner good coaches around him.

Shepherd has 7 returning on offense including their QB and RB from last year. Only 4 on the defensive side of the ball. Madisonville is probably still a year away from being a big player. 1. Bellville 2. Shepherd 3. Madisonville 4. Tarkington 5. Brookshire Royal

Unofficial Start to the Texas High School Football Season

I learned that lesson about 3 years ago. I bought into the whole "you'll get it before the stores do" sell and ended up getting it two weeks after it hit the shelves. It probably has more to do with the US Postal system than the folks with the magazine. But it was still enough for me not to order it online again. -

Kirbyville open Neece turns in resignation
WOSgrad replied to rykerx144's topic in High School Football
Perhaps. But we might never know. In fact, given the breadth of the request for depositions that Chip Ferguson has already requested in the Wallis/Reeves matter, it may behoove Coach Neece to continue his wise course of action in not divulging why he left Kirbyville for Newton lest he end up in front of lawyers and court reporters should he stray. The the matter is unfortunate at any time, but the timing is particularly bad for the football team and its new head coach, Todd Doughty. That is because even though Coach Doughty had absolutely no idea of the goings on in Kirbyville CISD at the time of his hiring and there is no evidence of any knowledge afterwards, he will be saddled with the fact that he is a "Tommy Wallis" hire. And should the Wildcats fall right out of the gate (and with due respect to my buds from Kirbyville, the chances of them besting Newton, regardless of which sideline Greg Neece is on, is at best remote) he will probably be crucfied. Crucified, not for what happens on the field, but that he is linked to an increasingly unpopular superintendent. . -

LOL! No Wing-T (not this year anyway). But here is the roster of assistant coaches: Delbert Spell - Defensive Coordinator Bryan Spell - Receiver David Crommett - Offensive Line Jae Stoker - Offensive Line Michael Broussard - Running Backs Chris Theriot - Safeties Michael Todd - Cornerbacks Toby Tolbert - Linebackers Jody Walker - Defensive Line NOW, this was provided to me by Coach Barrow even though he was under no obligation to do so (which I can tell, is a BIG switch from the Neumann days). Any and all griping about the names or positions WILL BE DELETED!!!

2017 SETX HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SCHEDULES/RESULTS

As fun as it is to keep up with area sports and report their scores, it is a complete blast when a particular season ends with an area school winning the last game of the year. So imagine my joy when I was able to do that five times (West Orange-Stark and Baytown Christian - football, Silsbee - boys basketball, Beaumont Legacy Christian - girls basketball, Port Neches-Groves - baseball). And that was the team sports, you throw in the Port Arthur Memorial 4x100m and 4x200m track teams, Memorial's Kary Vincent's 200 m victory and Silsbee's Kalon Barnes golds in the 100m and 200 m, that is 10 times that a team or individual in Southeast Texas stepped up to take a gold medal in their event. If that is not enough, you look at those teams that didn't get the gold but advanced to the state tournament such as Beaumont Kelly baseball and Dallardsville Big Sandy baseball (both finalists), Barbers Hill girls' basketball and Jasper girls' soccer. Add to that the countless number of track and field participants in the various state meets......yeah it was a successful year in SETXsports lore! It has not made our tasks here more exciting, but has given the whole area a lot more of a reason to look forward to the 2017-18 school year! To the young men and women of the area high schools, whether they make it to the pros, play college ball, or if they never play another down, inning, quarter or race ever again, we thank you for the precious moments that you gave us over this entire year. We will continue the watch your development and pray for your success. The the area coaches, we thank you for stepping up and taking part in developing our boys and girls into young men and women, sometimes in the face of folks who are the age of men and women, but act like boys and girls. And we are not quite done yet. This weekend, the SETCA gave a number of area athletes a final farewell to high school sports in their softball, volleyball, girls and boys basketball, football. And Jack Dallas will be a and Austin Hendrix will represent our area in the THSBCA All-Star Game next week. That event will finally close this wonderful chapter in the world of high school sports in Southeast Texas. But at SETXsports, there is no such thing as an off season as we prepare for what promises to be a stellar football season as many here view to be the subject of this topic come this time next year! Our football team previews will commence on July 1st and it is only a matter of time before the district prediction threads will heat up! So get on, and have fun!
