Mexia from what I have seen on video reminds me of Silsbee.  They really only have 2 players over 6 foot, but are quick and athletic.  It appears they do not have the depth of Silsbee, which is a good thing.  Should be a really good game!!!!

Actually dogs1218 has not seen HJ play this year at all!!!!!

I did give dogs1218 a little shout out in the broadcast last night!!!! ;) ;) He has said if HJ defeated Cleveland he would retract his earlier statements, so it is all good with me!!!

It is 3A Region 3 Regional Tournament time........The 3A #11 Hardin-Jefferson Hawks (34-6) advanced to the Regional Tourney for the 5th straight year after defeating #3 Cleveland on Wednesday night 76-68.  Hawks have been led by Shawn Prudhomme who is averaging 31 points in the last two games against Stafford and Cleveland.  HJ will take on 3A #10 Mexia Black Cats (29-5) who crushed Lufkin Hudson on Wednesday night 99-54 to advance to Huntsville.  Game time is set for 6:15 from the Johnson Coliseum on the campus of Sam Houston State University.  Winner will advance to Regional Final on Saturday at 3:00 against the winner of the Sealy/ Athens game which will be played Friday night at 8:00. Cleveland is very good and does have tons of talent.  Although the two best players on the floor last night were Prudhomme and Gustafson from HJ.  Cleveland had no answer for Prudhomme as he sliced and diced all night long.  Gus, who only scored 4 points (4 FT in the final 2 minutes) in the game but was so much more than scoring.  He had several steals and likely had more assists last night than he has had in a while.

Reed, Richardson and Ross have been starting for 3 years.  Walker is a new starter this year, but was on team last year.  The Indians have really missed Ross' twin brother who tore his ACL in football and consequently missed the entire basketball season!!!  There starting 5 were very good, but the bench is non-existent!!!!
