Athens is small......only 4 players over 6'0 on roster. Sealy does not look athletic to me, but from what I hear may have the best player in the Regional tourney.

Sometimes it is just easier to admit when you were wrong!!! I was wrong tonight.....I honestly thought the Hawks would go in and take advantage of a under sized Black Cat team.  But I can honestly say this without hesitation.  Mexia win or lose tomorrow is the best team HJ has played this year.  They are faster, quicker and shoot the ball better than any team I have seen all year.  Those kids from Mexia played their tails off tonight.  Don't get me wrong, HJ did what they do every game it seems and made adjustments at half and actually took a one point lead after trailing by 19 at one point.  But that can be a little bit skewed.......I honestly believe HJ with heart, coaching and will got back into the game but it was more of the fact that DJ Weathers was on the bench after suffering a leg injury. Mexia only had one player on the floor that played that was "listed" over 6"0 and that was Weathers.  The others relentlessly crashed the boards and got hands in on lose balls.  Congrats to Mexia on a great win, and best of luck tomorrow in the Regional Final!!!!! Now for my Hawks..........what more can you say than this group of 8 Seniors!!!  Gus, Grey, Sadien, Chase, Brody, Korey, Will and Robert it has been a pleasure to watch all of you over the last 4 years.  You guys make it so easy to enjoy being a Hawk fan!!!  Best of luck to you eight on whatever your career has in store for you!!!! Congrats to Coach Sutherland, Coach Davis and Coach Lee on a great run this year.......you guys never cease to amaze me or any other Hawk fans!!!  Job well done and you should all be proud!!! Now for the Hawks coming back next year............Joe, Zjori, Shawn, Sammie and Cade....don't forget the feeling you have tonight.  Remember how it feels and next year will be another year for the Hawks and deep playoff run. Gonna be a few days for me to realize that hoop season is over my Hawks!!!!! :( :( :(

First Down I have seen Mexia on tape..........very quick, deep and athletic.  Reminds me of a team that HJ had trouble with during the regular season. I can assure you that HJ is focused squarely on the Black Cats. And that the people stirring the pot and talking trash on here are SILSBEE fans, that are deep down inside hoping that the Hawks trip and fall!!!! Most famous person from Mexia is Anna Nicole Smith..........if the Black Cats are half as good as she was HOT in her prime, then the Hawks may be in for a long night!!!

Funny thing is that the only person saying that THIS IS A GUARANTEED WIN FOR THE HAWKS is a Silsbee guy............HJ knows what lies ahead of them!!!  And it is very similar to a district foe!!!

Not expecting any overnight success stories......give them a year or two.  To answer your question though, they did play Silsbee to within 8 points this year and played HJ tough at HJ.  They would beat OF and BC for sure next year and would contend with WOS for that 3rd spot.  Tons of talent at HF!!!  If you build it they will come, if not they will all leave!!! ;D ;D

I disagree with you WHSAlum...........really some pretty good kids returning for HF.  Plus their 8th and 9th grade teams are very good.  Tons of potential there for the Horns!!! I fully expect a well respected Assistant from SE Texas to get this job!!!! ;) ;) ;)

Mexia  #10 (Beat Chapel Hill (OT) and Lufkin Hudson) HJ  #11 (Beat Huffman, Stafford and #3 Cleveland) Athens (Beat #24 Groesbeck and Lorena) Sealy (Beat Giddings, #6 Silsbee and Navasota) On paper the best two teams seem to be playing tomorrow night in the 6:15 Semi-Final game, but that is why they play the games.  Take it one game at a time and focus only on the team that you are on the floor with.  HJ focus on the Mexia and may the best team win!!!

I was told by one of the HJ sponsors (Mike Roby---Mike Roby Insurance Agency) that we should go by Rob and Big.  That is some show on MTV!!!!!

My real question is why is a Silsbee fan on hear talking about HJ beating down someone?

HJ has two more than capable players that can step up in the PG position.........Sophomore Braeden Harmon and Freshman Sammie Mitchell for the Hawks next season.  Not saying they will be Gus, but will be very good and effective!!!
