Let's please not play the race card on this. Black or white, wrong is wrong. I think we can all agree that the offender was wrong. When you do that, you lose your rights and have to accept whatever the punishment is. Let's hope for the kid's sake that it's a lesson learned the hard way and hope the kid at LCM is okay.

That's good to hear. Everyone seems to be concerned about Devon and Silsbee going back to state. Not seeing much interest directed to the kid at LCM. I've watched a lot of high school sports over the last 30 years and I can't think of anything dirtier than what happened Tuesday night. To put it into perspective, Kermit Washington once did that in the NBA and destroyed Rudy Tomajanovich's face and career. His punishment was 60 days and $10,000. That's the only other incident that I can think of to compare this to.

A public assault deserves a public apology in my opinion - but at a minimum it should be done in private. I see a lot of folks on here concerned about Devon. The kid from LCM not so much.

Exactly. I'm more concerned with these young men being productive members of society than winning a game. You can debate if the punishment is too harsh but at the end of the day, it is what it is. Don't put yourself in that position to start with.

Here's a thought - how about a public apology from Devon to the player he blindsided? Maybe that's already happened, i don't know but if I'm his coach than I make sure that happens. A pep rally for this would completely send the wrong message to everyone. That type of behavior should not be condoned, excused or celebrated. I noticed the agressive nature of the team at state last year. You want them to be aggressive but they act like they never foul? Some of the worst attitudes I've ever seen. This is on the coach, he didn't seem to have much control over the team then and apparently not now either.

They have some phenomenal athletes but also some of the poorest sportsmanship I've ever witnessed. Those things are 100% correctable. They have the talent to get back to state but mentally i'm not sure. When things don't go their way they struggle.

So many great memories there. Truly an odd place though when you think about it. A roof but no ac or heat. Some of my coldest memories are shivering in the stands there and I've also been to Cowboy pre-season games when it was 120 degrees.

They've got a great chance to get back to Austin this year. Great defense, balance on offense and an experienced coach is a great recipe for success. Looked pretty good in against Central too!
