  1. I know gcm very well and let me say you can not make judgements unless you are on that field or in the locker room each and everyday. In order to be successful at gcm you have to build relationships with your players. They have to believe that you have their best interest at heart. You do that and they will love you and play their hardest. But with that being said gcm kids can bring a lot of baggage from outside the program. That is why as coaches they must be taught how to be men of integrity. Which requires a strong Christian coach. Does gcm have that?
  2. Don't blame it on the chronicle. They usually put in what the coaches report. So call your coaches if you want to read more.
  3. You guys are correct.  I was thinking of the basketball position being tied into teaching.  But I don't see people like Wise having a full teaching load! LOL And the statement of basketball knowledge and competency might help...really all depends on where you are applying.  I know some hut hut schools that want dumb basketball coaches.  Easier to run over.
  4. A degree.  Texas certification to teach.  And more importantly, know someone!
  5. Personally I saw the Yates team of 09-10 and the 02 of Dallas Lincoln.  I would say that Dallas Lincoln would be the best team I have ever seen.  I might be wrong but I think Lincoln had 6 D-1 players that year.  With Bosh, I think they could have beaten the 09-10 team of Yates.  But of course that is all hypothetical.
  6. I removed my post because it was inappropriate and not 100% accurate.  I apologize to HJ, Prudhomme, and the coaching staff.  Congratulations on the win and good luck making it to state.
  7. Haven't been able to watch HF play this year.  What is their style?  What do they do defensively and offensively?
  8. The party isn't over.  Please look at the standings before you JUMP off your team's wagon.  SMH.
  9. Right now they are at least guaranteed a tie for fourth UNLESS Barbers Hill wins out.  Crosby and King are both beatable with the right defensive scheme.  If Hadnot runs his pack 3-2 zone, it could give both teams trouble scoring.  They will have a tough time scoring against Crosby though.  King to me is their most ideal game to win.
  10. Don't like getting beat that bad you can either "get better" or move right?  SMH.  We are dealing with teenagers, not adults who are getting paid to play but kids who do the best they can.  The adults (coaches) are the ones who took the job to make these kids better people and help prepare them for life, not simply winning a game and humiliating the other team.  "If I am remembered by how many games I have won and not by the person I was, then I have indeed lived a sad life."
  11. If you look at the remaining schedule it is still wide open for the fourth spot... Dayton is 6-5 right now but still has to play the top 3 teams in district, Crosby, King, and NF.  They lost to all 3 the first time. GCM is 4-7 and still has to play Crosby, Barbers Hill, and Lee. BH is 4-7 and still has to play Galena Park, GCM, and Crosby. Galena Park is 4-7 and still has to play Barbers Hill, Lee, and North Forest. If Dayton wins 1 out of those 3 they will be in, in my opinion.  GCM, BH, and GP will need to win 2 out of 3 just to tie Dayton.  If any of those can sweep, they will be the fourth seed.  I think a 6-8 team will make it into the playoffs. And if you really want to get complicated...Dayton split with GCM.  Galena Park split with GCM.  Dayton swept Barbers Hill.  Galena Park split with Dayton.  Barbers Hill beat GCM once and lost to GP once and still need to play both for the second time.  Head spinning yet, yeah mine too!  Good luck to Nederland in figuring out who to scout for the bi-district playoff game.
  12. Any head coaching jobs going to open up in the SETX area?
  13. You all do remember that you are talking about children and a coach you have never met right?  I understand you are trying to give Blue Dove a hard time, but let us not forget it is not all about the wins and losses.  Sounds like HF needs a coach who can build relationships with his players.  Those relationships will turn out hard work, committment, and success, whether it be from wins and losses or the fact that they have become better men. Let us not forget Wooden, "Success is a peace of mind which is a direct result of self satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming."  If the new coach can achieve that, I will respect him despite what others say, who he has coached before, what parents like him, or if he wins state or even make the playoffs. I can tell the worst part of this board comes from people who aren't coaches.  Because if you are coaches who actually know the ins and outs of everything in their program, you wouldn't be making comments like I am reading on this and other threads.
  14. I am just glad I prayed for God's will to be done.  WOW!
  15. Boys job has been offered.  Waiting on board approval.  Powers that be only wanted to interview current head coaches.  No assistants interviewed.
  16. Has HF hired their new supt? Or is the old supt. running the interviews?
