Who are the Yellow Jackets ??? ??? Look back about 45 years and you'll see that the Silsbee team used to be the Yellow Jackets, they didn't change their name to the Tigers until the after the seniors from Chance-Loeb, now Lumberton, started going through their senior year in L-Town. Oh, I just remembered something, who decided this contest would be called the Village Creek Classic anyway. It used to be called the Village Creek Shootout when we played regular. raideroldtimer, you are sadly mistaken. Silsbee has never, ever been the Yellow Jackets. I have been living most of my 45 years right here in Silsbee and I have never heard anyone claim that Silsbee were the Yellow Jackets up until you have made this claim. My parents graduated from Silsbee. My Dad in '52, my mother in '55, and both told me that they were the Tigers the whole time they were in school. My mother started in Silsbee schools in '43 and she told me that they were always the Tigers. She said that the old stadium that used to be where the First Baptist Church sits now, was called Tiger Stadium. She told me that she went to school with folks from Chance/Loeb and they were the Tigers then also. I do not know where you are getting your info from, but it is totally false. Silsbee has been the Tigers for at least 80 years now and from what I know and have been told from some longtime Silsbee folks, they have always been the Tigers.

DV, you were the first to bring in the comparison of the two regions. BTW, you hurt my feelings. I know that you and Nos know more than I do when it comes to basketball, but I do think I bring something to the table. I can't believe that you don't respect my opinion on these matters.

I certainly don't have a dog in this hunt, but I can't help myself from posting on a certain comment that has been made. The comment about Friendswood winning the battle but losing the war against Dayton makes zero sense. Dayton losing to Friendswood 5 straight times is all that matters when considering the two teams. Saying you went further in the playoffs has no relevance to what went on between the two teams on the field. Since the two teams go to the playoffs in different divisions, it would be the same as the Dayton fans saying that WOS wins the battle between the two of you but Dayton wins the war because the Broncos have advanced further in the playoffs than what WOS has. Friendswood has earned the right to have bragging rights over Dayton because what they have done on the field against the Bronco team. If the two teams were to advance to the playoffs in the same division, then that would be different but the fact would still remain that Friendswood won the game.

Yes, Carrington left for Atascosita for better football exposure. Cleveland will miss him both on the field and on the court.

Here is the author of this thread and what he was asking folks to comment on. All of the talk has been about Region III teams until you, DV, chimed in with the Region II talk. Again, nobody is disputing the Region II fact, but this thread wasn't about making comparisons of different regions, but to make comparisons and arguments of Region III teams.

Looks like my Saturday morning headlines from last week are coming true. Well at least one of them. " WOS wins a "closer than normal one" over LCM!!" (Hooks instructs a couple of the "homers" to get out their excuse books) "West Brook eeks out a win over the Jaguars on controversial call late in game" (BMTSoulja seen running across field chasing after officials)

Actually, it was a 78 yard TD pass, a 70 yard TD pass, and an 85 yard TD run by Johnson that was all called back for penalties. But, they were all legitimate penalties from my viewpoint. Yes, by my statistics, Johnson "would have" gained 142 yards rushing, plus 436 yards passing for a total of 578 yards of offense. Oh, and Silsbee could have won it. We have to work on the penalties, we are committing way too many.

Coop I cant believe your are resorting to the old ref excuse for WOS not having a bigger rout than it was. Coop would never be accused of pulling out the ref card, injury card or the young card. The Young and Injuries for sure. Refs have been terrible though. : Yea, I heard that LCM could have had a couple of more touchdowns if it weren't for the refs.

So we're 2 games into the season with Silsbee blowing out a Houston Davis team with their starters pulled to start the 2nd half and then losing to a solid Diboll team. BC has played 2 winless squads....you're reaching. Anyone doubting Silsbee not being in top three is just plain silly but no need in banging BC for their progress. These kids have been through a pretty big ordeal here of late and are searching for a little respect. There will be some casualties along the way and hopefully we will be fortunate enough to represent our district no matter what the order is. Be careful who you peck on it just might draw blood. GO BIG RED! BC beating Silsbee would not be an upset it would just be another win. WOS is the King for now and that would be an upset. You are kidding yourself if you think BC beating Silsbee would not be an upset.
