  1. Nope, '77 Chevy Nova, 4 door. I could cram about 7 of us basketball players in there.
  2. Ending this bus program will not be the end all for the WOS athletic program. They will find a way to get the kids home. I was fortunate to have my own car when I was in high school, but alot of my teammates did not. But the ones that did, like myself, took our teammates home and it did not matter of race, religion, or social status either.
  3. I see your point. But it is not like the basketball forum back in '07 was a ghost town. That was when HJ won their state title and there was plenty of banter going on between Silsbee and HJ. I just think that nobody else posted on this thread because they were okay with the results. There was nothing to criticize.
  4. This just sums it all up. Great post!!
  5. In 2007, we still had over 5,000 though.
  6. I brought this thread back to show a couple(not all) HJ fans how the shoe is on the other foot. Donahoe almost outscores the entire opponent and is commented that if he hadn't fould out, he would have had more. Question for Bullets, why was he still playing in the 4th with that big of a lead? Note, no one has criticized HJ in this thread.
  7. I am assuming that this is in no particular order of each district. Why? Is he not allowed to predict a district winner?
  8. Like this is news. Everyone knew that the AG would rule against it. :
  9. Yes, Troup was loaded. They went to the state finals 5 straight years. Here are their results: '90 Lost to Ingram-Moore 73-72 '91 Lost to Abernathy 55-46 '92 Won over Krum 60-40 '93 Won over Amarillo HP 69-49 '94 Lost to Krum 56-45
  10. That's him!!! Greg Austin, he was a stud for sure.
  11. I remember that Troup team. Jasper was a biggen inside. The '6"5 swingman was the man though. I'll remember his name before the day is up. He could fill it up.
  12. I thought that was the game that I was thinking about. After looking over the scores that Nos posted, it was the Hardin game that I remembered. 166-51!!!!! Bullets talking about us averaging 26 points a quarter then scoring 32 in the fourth. HJ averaged over 40 a quarter in that game!
  13. Thanks, Nos. I do have a question for you. How in the world did Troup and Barbers Hill keep you guys under 60 points? ;D btw, you guys see that 151-44 score?
  14. Oh, I am quite sure there was criticism. Glass houses.
  15. There is no point to this, Joey. It's just the media wanting to shed some more tears over this. :
  16. See, I thought I was correct on that. I just couldn't remember who they beat but I knew it was around 100 points. Actually 107! I am almost positive it was at Hardin and that was the game that Isabell had 50 points!!!! Now see, you got folks on here being criticle about our game when in this one, a single player had double the points as the opposing team had!!
  17. Yeah! Baby needs a new pair of shoes!!!
  18. See, I thought I was correct on that. I just couldn't remember who they beat but I knew it was around 100 points. Actually 107!
  19. Silsbee will not score 100 in this game, trust me on that one. Silsbee takes this one, 79-60.
  20. Nothing but pure jealousy!!!! Teams like Silsbee, HJ, Ozen and Kountze that have had a great basketball tradition are always ridiculed for some of the scores that they put up. It is ridiculous. GET OVER IT!!!!!! I totally agree, Lazeek. But then why does Bullets question us? Isn't he HJ?
  21. Good question, Jay. I have seen far worse scores in my day. Matter of fact, I remember a HJ team that had their current assistant playing for them, beating someone by nearly 100 points one time. I have tried to explain to folks on this thread how this game went down, but they don't seem to understand. The point I am trying to make is that everyone at one time or another has games like this. If they were there, they probably wouldn't have any questions.
  22. Am I the only one that wants to know how we get 2 mill. deficit and then start worrying about how to cut? The whole thing is a mess and yes it is going to be ugly. My problem is how did it get this way. Who wasn't on watch when they were supposed to be. I know it isn't as easy as this but it just seems as though you would see it coming. Those are very good questions, td. Questions which you guys deserve answers to.
  23. would you want your varsity team playing a jv team because you know you cant compete with their varsity? wow you just dont listen...i said play up for more competition to get your kids ready for the next level i never said play down your just arguing for argument sake. and your absolutely right silsbees jv would beat both of those teams. i think westrbooks freshmen could give hf a game. on a side note i really would like to see silsbee and st thomas jv play each other it would be a great game im going back to what you originally said... i always agree to play up.. but i dont know of any varsity team that would agree to play a jv team... it just wouldnt be right... what if they lost... it would be way more embarassing than losing to a way better varsity team I was personally involved with a varsity team playing a JV. Back in 1980, I was on Silsbee's JV and Spurger varsity needed a game for their homecoming(Spurger doesn't play football, therefore they have their homecoming in basketball) We agreed to play them and well, to make a long story short, we killed them, 122-35. I will never forget that game for many reasons.
  24. But Lazeek, I have all night!! ;D Go to bed you are old!!!!! ;D ;D ;D I have to wait a little longer to empty my bladder. Otherwise I have to wear Depends to bed.
  25. But Lazeek, I have all night!! ;D
