Silsbee vs Central prediction
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I don't get to make this one, Soulja. My oldest son's Christmas band concert is tonight. I thought the concert was Thursday night. I had planned on broadcasting this game until my wife told me. Bummer. :'( -
Silsbee vs Central prediction
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Silsbee will not beat Central by 20, even if we win at all. I would be totally shocked if the Tigers blew out the Jags in their own gym. -
Well, I'll be in attendance, so that takes care of the local celebrity. ;D
-
You see this far too often. I remember when I played ('79-'82 at Silsbee) it seemed we always got the tougher route to the finals in the tournaments we played. We just got used to it. Made for an easy win in the final. ;D

LU vs. Indiana State Game Thread/LU FALLS!
AggiesAreWe replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
There are no rules on this site that states a coach cannot "trash" talk on these forums. Some may view it as unethical, but it is not against the rules. I know plenty of coaches who have come on these boards and have talked some smack, all in good nature. I have had my run ins with Dick and we have disagreed on many occasions, mostly about HOW he presents his side of the subject, and not the subject itself. I respect his knowledge of the game, but sometimes I don't care for how he shares it. He knows that the way he speaks on these forums is a way to get under some skins around here. He is right in stating he brings controversy to the boards, right or wrong. Dick, there is no need for you to stay away. Just so you know that you'll always be watched and fully expect for you to be called out. I agree with what some of these guys are saying. You come off as a blowhard. I have learned that is really not the case. I'll just keep on reminding you. -

Silsbee vs Central prediction
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Okay Nos, I admit we have some fans that are way over the top with their predictions, but I wouldn't consider it to be a "public announcement" on behalf of all Tiger fans. HJ has got their share of the mouthy ones too. Even if Silsbee were to beat Central on the Jags home court, it has nothing to do with what the outcome will be with HJ-Silsbee. I know you know that too. -
This game will be Tuesday night, 7:30 at Central

Big Sandy Tournament scores
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It should be noted that Silsbee definetly had the tougher route to the championship. There were 5 ranked teams in this tournament, Silsbee, Kountze, New Waverly, Big Sandy, and Goodrich. The Tigers beat Hardin in the opener, then took down 2A #3 New Waverly, then 1A #1 Goodrich, then in the championship 1A #4 Big Sandy on their home court. Silsbee should move up in the rankings from #8. I state SHOULD, but we will see. : -
Out of the four private schools( FW Christian, FW All Saints, Dallas Shelton, Southwest Christian ), Southwest Christian should have the best team. They come in ranked #16 in that state for small private schools. The thing about private schools, is you really don't know what kind of talent they could have. They may be a small school, but have a larger pool to get players from. As for the rest of the field, the only other ranked team in the tourney other than Silsbee and Kountze, is #12 3A Lufkin Hudson. This is based on this past week's rankings, the new ones will be out tomorrow. I look for Silsbee to move up from #8 and quite possibly Kountze dropping completely out of the polls. Here is the field and their classification: Silsbee #8 3A Kountze #14 2A Lufkin Hudson #12 3A Gatesville 3A Tatum 3A Sanger 3A FW Diamond Hill-Jarvis 3A Dallas Gateway 1A Dallas Shelton private FW Christian private FW All Saints private Southwest Christian private

Master T, you are very wrong on the class comment. Big Sandy is a class program led by a 1st class coach in Kevin Foster. I met Coach Foster last year when I broadcasted a couple of their games, very nice man and very cooperative with me in my broadcasts. I spoke to Kevin and a few of his players before and after the game last night, trust me, they are class people. Your comments are very uncalled for. As for the questionable calls, it went both ways. Yes there were a few no-calls that the Tigers didn't get, but Big Sandy didn't get a few themselves. It definetly wasn't one-sided. Typically an officiating crew may make or don't make a few calls just to keep things flowing. It was obvious who the better team was from all standpoints. Even Coach Foster told me before and after the game that he was glad that his team got to play Silsbee, it would only be good for them down the road. He commented that they would not see a better team the rest of the year, even if they made it back to Austin. The only thing you got right in your comment was that Big Sandy will learn from this loss. The Wildcats do have respect contrary to what you think. You are the one showing no class and respect with these comments. You need to represent our Tigers a little better next time. -
Who will win the HJ tournament next week?
AggiesAreWe replied to Cowboy4jc's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
HJ will take this tourney with ease. The only real comp the Hawks will have in this tournament might be Kingwood Park, but they are only juniors and soph., no senior class. If HJ doesn't win this, that coaching staff needs to be run out on a rail. ;D -
Big Sandy Tournament scores

Silsbee had one of their poorest shooting nights tonight. This being their 4th game in 3 days really showed in the Tigers shooting, very dead legged. Big Sandy had the luxury of only playing 3 games. Silsbee won this one based on their relentless pressure, quickness, and depth. Silsbee played all 11 players that suited out ( big man '6"6 Avery Thomas did not play this tournament due to a bruised knee, he will be back next week ) and actually 10 of them saw action before the first quarter was over. Big Sandy really just stuck to 6 players all night and Coach Foster told me after the game that's all he really could confidently put out there against this Tiger team. Silsbee trialed 16-12 with about 2 minutes left in the first quarter but ended the quarter on a 12-0 run to take the lead at the end of one, 24-16. The Tigers opened the 2nd qtr with 5 straight points to extend the run to 17-0 to really put Big Sandy in a hole, down 29-16. Tigers went in at haftime with a 43-31 lead. The second half really showed the Tiger depth advantage over the Wildcats as Silsbee just kept putting the pressure on Big Sandy, actually getting their biggest lead at 77-48. The Wildcats hit three 3 pointers at the end of the game to close the scoring out at 77-57. Congrats Tigers on another Big Sandy tournament title!! -
So I take it that he will have his high school diploma and score high enough on the SAT to enroll at tu for the spring? I'll believe it when I see it. : It seems odd that the whorns are this desperate for a player. They really don't need this baggage.
