I like the build up leading to the big Rivalry game and will be there for all 3 games.
Me too. Just curious...the Silsbee JV is 10-0 in district. Not sure of HJ JV record. Does the JV game have any significance in the district race?
It's my understanding that Silsbee JV has a two game lead just like the Tiger varsity. A win tonight by both teams would clinch the out right district title for both the Silsbee Varsity and JV.
Most of the pot stirrers either stepped on the wrong person's toes or hurt the wrong person's feelings. What they said was nonsense but was very entertaining and helped move the board on slow days. Also, I think posters from both schools have figured out that only one game is really all that important and that game is played in Huntsville. The dark cloud of Yates hanging around has also perhaps hurt expectations. More rambling, but I also feel the district's (schools') absurd decision to play the girls and boys varsity at the same venue has hurt the rivalry. And oh yeah most feel that this next game's outcome has already been decided.
No girls game this time. Just boys (9th, JV, Varsity). Because of how Silsbee dominated for 3 quarters last time, HJ losing to another team in district, and HJ also losing one of their top players, I can see where folks would predict a Tiger blowout over the Hawks. But I have seen enough of these two teams play each other over the years to know that predicting blowouts in this game is ludicrous.

Wrong again DV. PN-G did beat Lincoln in '92. Also, Lincoln did not win district in '92, Silsbee did. District 23-4A 1. Silsbee 2. Lincoln Here is the link to the UIL archives for that years 4A playoffs: [Hidden Content] That year, both Silsbee and Lincoln were defeated in the 1st round. Silsbee lost to CE King 66-65, Lincoln lost to Channelview 69-64.

Lamar football signing day update

Ray Woodard's Presser news and notes: [Hidden Content] Redshirt junior receiver Kevin Johnson, who transferred from Oklahoma State, is suspended for a violation of team rules, Woodard announced. He said it is an in-house issue and Johnson will be granted a second chance to return, but he is suspended for now. Johnson led the Cards with 10 touchdown receptions last season Spring football will begin March 18 with the Spring Game occurring April 16 at 7 p.m. Lamar will hold a scrimmage every Saturday between then at 10 a.m. On defense, the Cards will stick to a 3-4 and Woodard said he has specifically recruited to this scheme On offense, Woodard expressed a desire to throw the ball more. He picked up a pair of quarterbacks today including Central QB Robert Mitchell and speedy Judge Wolfe from Palmer, Texas. Five of Lamar’s recruits were JUCO transfers. Woodard said he would rather build his program on high school players and stray from those in junior college Lamar is close to finishing its schedule for this year and is waiting on only a couple contracts to come through with other schools. Woodard wanted to be able to release it today, but it is not complete yet. -

Stevenash don't start that about Ozen getting the best in Beaumont, because that was certainly NOT the case. I will say this again: WESTBROOK AND CENTRAL HAVE ALWAYS HAD TALENT. And in some years MORE than we did at Ozen. This year Central has GREAT young talent, but the only way Nederland has ANY shot at beating them is the fact that Brian English is a much better coach than Central's coach...MUCH BETTER. With the right guy on the Central sideline, they blow that district away, UNDEFEATED. JUST like we did.... ;)
Let me pose this question to you Dickie. If Boutte was at Ozen and you were at Central, who would win the head to head matches and who would win the district title?
I cannot wait for this response!!! ;D

TAPPS 3-5A District playoff scenarios
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
From bmtcpa87: That's correct ballislife. But what I think would be better is for Pius to beat Thomas. Then all Kelly has to do is beat Thomas. They don't have to worry about beating Thomas by 6. That assumes Kelly can beat Concordia, which isn't going to be easy. We will have to play much better than we did at home against Concordia. Kelly was lucky to win that game. -
TAPPS 3-5A District playoff scenarios
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
From Ballislife: If Kelly wins their next game, and then beat St. Thomas by +6, they will have first place no matter what St. Thomas does in their next game. If Kelly wins the next game and loses to Thomas, they will have a tie breaker with Pius for 2nd, depending on the outcome of the Thomas-Pius game -
I took some posts from another thread and posted them here for continued conversation on the subject. From bmtcpa87: Not sure where else to put this. St. Thomas beat Concordia last night 67-59, so St. Thomas is 3-1 and Concordia is 1-3. Kelly and St. Pius are both 2-2. So far in district, the home team has won every game. Thomas has road games remaining at Pius and Kelly. Concordia has homes games with Kelly and Pius. Kelly plays at Condordia and then home against Thomas. Pius plays Thomas at home then at Concordia. If the home teams continue to win we will all end up 3-3. I have no clue how that tie breaker would work. Finally, the Kelly and Condordia game has been moved from Friday to tomorrow, February 7. Obviuosly a huge game for Kelly. A win by Kelly guarantees a playoff spot as top 3 go to playoffs and would set up a district championship game next Tuesday against Thomas at Kelly. Kelly has the tie breaker on Pius due to point differential so it would be best if Pius wins their final two games and we both end up 4-2. Gotta win one on the road.

I was obviously not at the game last night so I cannot comment on if the officiating was bias or not. I can say this. I have been to many a basketball game in this area where games were officiated by either the local TASO or UIL Chapters. I have seen officials from both chapters greet and talk to fans before and even sometimes during the game. Because these guys know some of the people in attendance and acknowledge and speak with them cordially, does that mean those guys will call a bias game? I don't think so. Like I said, wasn't at the game last night, so I really do not know. But I think you guys are making the "conversing with the fans" a mountain out of a mole hill.
