A person living (renting or owning) in Cheek isn't necessarily zoned to Hamshire-Fannett. Some Cheek residents are zoned to West Brook.

From what I was told, he and the admin/school board clashed. One thing they didn't like was Morgan stopping the scheduling of Silsbee for football. It stopped a long running tradition. Several admins and school board members didn't like that. Sup actually called Silsbee admin to apologize.

Some of you don't realize that a lot of the schools locally do not use the local TASO Chapter of officiating. Several use the Houston Chapter. So some of these officiating crews you are speaking of are not the SETX chapter. Just keep that in mind.

Are we talking about Carpenter?

Protested? From my understanding all knew what that situation was about. It was all about a family thing. Both schools were aware. No protest that I knew of.

It wasn't challenged because he was "swept" in as a football player. The basketball coaches actually had a problem with it. At least that was what I was told.

I tend to agree. But when there is a trend and it's not really about the school, well.........

Vidor at Lumberton - this ones for the playoffs
AggiesAreWe replied to Boneyard Boys's topic in High School Football
This is a no brainer. Silsbee beat Lumberton 56-14 and according to some Vidor fans, Vidor would beat Silsbee. So.......... -

Maybe the DEC wanted a reason for now wanting to attend Hamshire-Fannett. Look at it from their perspective. Student attends an academy for most of his adolescent life. Most parents send their children to such schools for the academics or environment. They chose it to be better than public schools which is their right. Now the young man chooses to attend a public school who just happens to have a new coach. Why wasn't HF considered before this coach arrived? Has the academics and environment at the private school changed? Have they dismantled their athletic program? These and other questions is what the DEC wants to know about. Based on the answers they received and the research of those answers, it was deemed a transfer for athletic purposes. Based on the recent activity, I can see where a DEC would have red flags. I don't think it is personal and I surely don't think it's racial. I know the coaches and AD's in that district. That's not their motivation. And to answer your question above, I would have allowed the transfer.

Shutout for the.......

I think what some are seeing is that these kids are not coming to play for Hamshire-Fannett but coming to play for a coach. The question is, if the coach was at a different school, say PA Memorial or Anahuac or East Chambers or Kelly, would these kids still be transferring to Hamshire-Fannett?

Speaking of Arline, because he was ejected in last night's game in 2nd half, he will have to miss the 1st half of the 1st round playoff game. So we will need Jones and Dodd. Arline needs to get a grip on that attitude.

Transfer papers student athletes have to fill out.

I had Vidor winning this district before season started. I just didn't have them beating the likes of Jasper and Silsbee like some were saying.

It's my understanding that the DEC found some discrepancies in the young man's PAPF. The DEC did their due diligence and found some things in the PAPF to be false. DEC denied eligibility based on this info. I honestly think the UIL will rule the same. I have no clue about what school folks in Cheek is zoned to. I do know that some attend Hamshire-Fannett and some attend West Brook. Also, some folks that reside in the HF school zone have Beaumont zip codes. But zip codes mean nothing when speaking of residency and school districts.

The DEC is the District Executive Committee for each district. It's repped by all the schools AD's and Sups that are in the district. They rule on eligibility issues among other things. The young man can go back to Tekoa Academy or even try to enroll at another school. He is a junior and could opt to play JV at Hamshire-Fannett and then play his senior year.
