We took no glory beating PNG Lumberton, Central, WB or any Team in the area because that's what we thought that's we were supposed to do. We found Glory in the final game; the Championship. Even winning that, we weren't any better than any of our opponents, we just made more plays. PA can learn some Humility also.

If 22 5A is weak, and we're picking cupcake teams to play preseason, what does that say about PAM? Ozen and Central on the schedule every year.

Let's drop the pretense and call this what it really is: one more flashing point for a growing divide in the Beaumont community that centers on all things BISD.
 
Was it right for those kids from Central to refuse to shake hands? Absolutely not. Should they be taught a lesson? Yes, but by the Central coaches, not by a former school board member (who I agree with on most BISD issues, by the way) publicly shaming them on Facebook.
 
Why do y'all think those kids refused to shake hands? Do you think it might have something to do with all of the fighting going on between the the adults in the different factions in Beaumont? Because I think that's exactly what it is. And frankly, those conflicts are going to remain long after the state returns the district to local control unless something is done to improve social relations in that town. If not, I can guarantee you that BISD will fall right back into the same sorry shape it was in before the Board of Managers came in to clean things up. A community leader who played a major role in that divisiveness mounting that kind of an attack on a group of teenagers via social media does absolutely nothing to help that district or that community, and only serves to inflame already extremely high tensions. What's worse is that one generation's fight can very easily become the next generation's bitter war; in other words, the anger that you're seeing among the parents in BISD right now could very easily become entrenched in the students of BISD, which will make this animosity a chronic, generational issue for Beaumont well into the future. What you saw in that video is an example of that process well underway.
 
The only way this is ever going to get solved in the long term is if the people on both sides put aside the animus, start taking responsibility for their own and actually try to bind up the wounds. That's the only way we can count on the mess to stay cleaned up after the Board of Managers is gone. Otherwise, turning the district back over to local control will be tantamount to reopening old wounds rubbing salt in wounds that were never properly bound up to begin with.

Shaking hands should only be mandatory after games. Not before. Its a game central hasn't won in years and i'm sure it made them feel tough inside. This shouldn't be a deal at all and in no way should they be looked down or frowned upon.

How does not shaking hands equate to being Thugs. I do have a problem with not shaking hands. The kids don't only represent their Team, they represent their families also. Neil knew exactly what he was doing, so I ask this question; seeing these actions of this guy after being removed, do we really believe this guy didn't support some shady dealings?? He always claimed he wasn't informed. Nobody works around people & get duped numerous times without knowing their tendencies. This Guy is such a Coward. Why doesn't he show up on Campus & ask Coach Foreman why the kids didn't shake hands. To the media that ran the story, if you need to Print inflammatory comments about kids to sell papers, quit being spineless and take the criticism. Furthermore please quit pointing out errors in grammar because I've read numerous errors by reporters. Jags, now you know how some feel, learn & move on. We All make mistakes, let's not constantly repeat.
In closing I would like to say that I personally know many of the kids at Central, this was an attack on their Character and it should be addressed. Former Board members making Bogus comments unfortunately carries more weight than our common Citizens many times.

The hurry up offense WB was running had us sucking wind a little. They'll do the same to memorial's defense as well. They wasn't sucking wind because Ozen didn't do anything in particular to make your defense work. Come on, man. You not debating with an amateur here. Lol

The WB back is strong and has wheels just like Dalphine. Like I've said, same thing.

Well, we got ripped up by WB's Corbin.. you know him. He's your district's returing all district player and the BEST receiver in your district. PAM don't have a receiver that's even close to his caliber. Rucker is gone... Seals is gone...

The man child (Dalphine) = DeMarcus smith (WB). Same talents. So, its nothing that we hqvent seen.

PAM have same talent they always have year in and year out... Minus a good senior receiving corps. But you don't think our db's can cover inexperienced receivers. Yea, ok. I'll buy that for a dollar.

Offensive line and d-libes aren't that big for Memorial... So we'll win some battles in the trenches..

You have a player that is being Recruited heavily by Texas A&M, Arizona State, and U of H and this kid only gets a little over 50 yards rushing? If the proper preperations were made, this kid should have had a much higher numbers and been more of an impact on the game. Is there not a play or plays that can put this speed in space? I'm sorry, but I wasn't really that impressed with our staff on both sides of the ball.

It's a long season. Maybe it gets better from here.

It's funny that Port Arthur are picking ridiculous blowouts but I sat back and saw them play a boy so good Ozen team. Memorial can't pass good and the young QB will be in a world of trouble. Against west brook, we waited too late to make adjustments. If we make adjustments to Cam and Dalphine early and if our staff gets their thumbs out of their butt and figure out how to to get the best athlete on the field (Whaley) in open space or ANY position to do damage, this is our game to win. Just like last year when the SAME RB's were at memorial... When the SAME coaches were there and a BETTER receiving corps were present... Smh. Ford's right. We're NOT Ozen. We've beaten you on more than one occasion.

Dang BigCam & dimlaws, do y'all need to do the Ice Bucket cool y'all A__ Off Challenge? I know both of you personally and both are strong opinonated competitors with intelligent, talented, hard working sons. It's not that serious, both will be All-District selections and D-1 players so y'all did y'alls part. Everyone thinks the world of there son, hell, I think if they ever played Bear at LB or RB instead of DT, I would piss somebody off thinking he's the best. Let's not make it personal and have it be just an opinon since there's no blood shed. Two good dudes with awesome sons with big futures!

dimlaws, I'm a die hard Central fan, but to Defend Cam, his son probably had nice numbers. He was one of the ONLY ones from Ozen that wanted to play and tackle someone.

Your son did well as well, I just wish they would've had him shadow Corbin all over the field. I would've felt better about that matchup...

Though I believe the Jags will have a great season I am not at all surprised by this score. A close personal friend talked me into changing my pick at the last minute to Central. He is very well connected at BISD and finally convinced after the week a trying that Central would win. I am still expecting a call from him to atleast aknolwedge I was right. My reasoning for this came out of last weeks scrimmage with PN-G. WB has 3 things going with their team thats pretty deadly in HS football. A dang good QB, a dang good RB and a huge line. Not seeing Central I wasnt 100% sure because by all accoubts they are loaded. But I saw that WBs passing attack and running game were real. Very effecient. Ceantral will be in the hunt for the DC if they dont win the DC. Like I said in a previous post. If I were a Central fan I would not be satisfied with just the playoffs this season. This team could make some noise. This defeat however stinging it maybe because its you innercity rival means absolutley nothing. You guys played with one of the better QBs, Olines, RB combos in the area and not to mention that higly touted WR. This was just a good warm up for both teams. Great sounding game. Even though you lost I learned alot about the Jags this game alot of positive not negative. Good luck to both teams the rest of the way except ofcourse when you cross my Indians!!!!!

This game was horribly called both ways. But I pay particular notice to the 2 horse collar no calls on Jacquet in the first half. Stevie wonder and Ray Charles can see that call.

Our coaching ne er seen that if Locke wasn't holding Corbin, , then it is 'barbecue chicken' to whoever else was holding him (#24 for Central). Should've had Lock shadow him.

No way should Essex have been allowed to break 10 hard runs.

I'll go on record to say that we almost won this game based on the shear will of Jacquet. Wasn't based off of play calling. There is no way thay you can't get Whaley in space to use his speed.

All on all, I felt I got my money's worth in this game. Fans showed up, players played hard, and no major injuries.

Congrats to this Bruin team for finding a way to win.

Central will win a lot of games, yall watch, they are loaded. The QB is a monster. He will get bigger D1 offers for sure. He is better than Summer Creeks QB last year and I think that guy went to UCLA.

Bored at work and trying to kill some time so I totaled up the votes according to the Pick'ems for the game tonight. As of 3 o'clock, 107 people have placed their picks. 54 picking the Jaguars and 53 picking the Bruins or 50.4% for the Jags and 49.6% for the Bruins. Can't get much closer than that. I hope that means we will have a good game tonight...

I know one thing: Suggs and Company were confused at how to adjust to Memorial's d-line. 85 is right: they gotta shore up that oline, also I counted 41 players for Ozen lastnight: they can't afford injuries like the ones that seemed to occur lastnight. Ozen folks stick with your team, they will be better when district rolls around.

There is a lot that can go wrong in a season. Staying healthy with the amount of carries (513) Fred had over his career is a feat in itself. Talk to us after his Sophomore season so we can see if he has made a dent in the 4,968 yards or 64 touchdowns. Or better yet, just win state...

I saw some very disrespectful things tonight. A whooping is a whooping, but that crap tonight was unnecessary. The Refs sucked!! This could have gotten out of hand. The constant holding & dirty play. We clearly are no match for PA, it's time to rethink another opponent. Total Domination. Good Luck the rest of the way Titans.
