1. Vidor 24 - Ozen 21. Ozen has a tough time with the slot-T offense. Vidor's defense is one of the best, and fastest, in the area. Lumberton game was sloppy from the let down against Nederland. Ozen / Vidor games are always close, well played football games. Wish I were there to see it.
2. Prayers going out from all the Pirate fans here in Sriracha, Thailand (3).
3. this ain't baseball!!! To quote Al Davis "Just win baby!!!!" It's as simple as that. GO PIRATES!!!!
4. Regardless of who the player of last week is, both Powell and Quirante return for the Pirates next season!!!!
5. Vidor vs. Ozen is an important game but not all-important. David definetly needs another week to heal. Good luck to the young man and hope he's back next week at full strength.
6. I'm on the other side of the world and believe it or not, there is another Pirate here with me. What is David's final diagnosis and prognosis please!!!!
7. That's outstanding news. We need David back; especially for the PNG and Livingston games. Good luck Nederland on your run. Kick PNG's butt!!!!
8. Just now getting to spend a little time after the Nederland game on the computer. Congratulations to Nederland from what I can read was a hard fought victory. I missed a great football game and that makes me nearly as sad as us losing. I guess I'll have to watch Manchester United and Everton go at it or the Rugby World Cup. No American football here. Prayers go out for David Bollinger, we need that young man and this is his senior season. Outstanding running back; fortunes of football.
9. God bless David and I hope he's well soon. We need him this year. He would have made a huge difference in the Nederland game. A lot of offense is lost with that young man not in the lineup.
10. Ought to be a great game!!!! Good luck to both teams; no injuries either way. One of these days, I would like to see this game hosted in Pirate Stadium; bury those skeletons even deeper where they never come to the surface again....only one I want to see is on our Jolly Roger.
11. Central is our biggest rival. We really don't have a very long history with LCM. As far as Orange County teams go, probably Bridge City then WOS.
12. Beaumont Central is our rival; could care less about Nerderville. Lumberton has won district more in the last 10 years than they have. Their arrogance is what is driving these threads....not rivalry.
13. WOS Admin, I do stand corrected about the BH and New Caney games at home. My bad. But, BH was 2006 post-Rita at their house. I felt the 2005 season we had a strong shot at the playoffs but lost the heartbreak to Central during a Saturday evening game which cost us the chance. 2004 I was on assignment again with my job and didn't make the football season but got back for that great basketball team we had. By the way, baht is Thai money which is where I am right now. Saw my Pirates play the first three games and hope to be back in time for the Livingston game at the end of the season.....of course this is the best place to keep up with my team.....
14. to answer some of the Nederland, PNG and other fans, have been dictated by who will play us, not whom we select. Speak with Jeff Mathews about why we have to play against Texarkana Texas High or Catholic schools like St. Thomas and Kelly and you'll find we get a lot of the same treatment Crosby gave us, dredging up the past and cancelling at the last minute. I appreciate Texas High playing on our schedule as well as the Orange County schools. Thank you Kirbyville for a home and away. It's seems we play way more away games pre-district than home games, go figure. We had New Caney once in 2005 and Barbers Hill once in 2006 but neither gave us return game at our house (beat New Caney, lost to BH). I'm sorry, but I know Jeff well and he'll play anybody, anywhere and the Pirates aren't afraid of anyone. At least St. Thomas came to Vidor, along with Craig Biggio. So, instead of talking smack, why don't some of you other schools call Jeff and schedule home and aways rather than this game of "I'm not playing in Vidor!" Ask Beaumont Ozen or Beaumont Central how they're treated when they play here. I would love to see a Brenham or Barbers Hill or Texas City on our pre-district schedule, especially in our house!! You'll find Vidorians warm and friendly and you'll come away with a new respect for our football team. Just my two baht.....
15. navydawg31, thank you for your service. However, that doesn't give you the right to give anyone a lesson on grammar or spelling especially if you call yourself "dawg" on a message thread concerning Vidor and nederville (puppies) and attack my disdain for their arrogance. I promise you don't want a verbal battle with me. You can ask BMTSoulJa1 about that. I will defend my Pirates until the very end....even from half a world away....
16. navydawg31, I called ya'll "nerdervillians" meaning you are a citizen of "nerderville" not villain. Check your spelling; however, considering the school you went to I understand....
17. .....like three message threads and 20+ pages worth of non-riled up and non-rivalry....great for this board!!!! I hope everyone stays healthy Friday night, the officials keep the flags in their pockets and the best team wins on the field.....
18. Actually, I believe our biggest rival is Central....at least those are the best games....really close and good football....class bunch of guys. You nerdervillians are just arrogant and easy to stir up....
19. I have a hard time hearing the band from the urinal.......
20. Size isn't the thing with the Pirates, it's speed! We haven't faced a team yet that wasn't bigger across the line than us; especially Texas High. Speed kills.......and our boys are in the best shape I've ever seen a Pirate team.
21. Ya'll leaving Orange County outta the mix. Vidor, LCM, Ned, PNG. Neither LCM or the Pirates are getting any respect. Beaumont doesn't make the grade this year. Livingston out if their QB is out.
22. An outstanding young man on an outstanding Pirate team. The best line of the entire article came from Jeff Mathews "and the best thing about him is he's a junior."
23. From Thailand; 16 pages of non-rivalry and counting........too bad I can't be at the game.
24. Nederville needs to look at the Pirate DEFENSE instead of thinking about the Pirate offense which they won't be able to stop. Scroll up to the stats board for the area and look at the rankings. Vidor will rush for 350 - 400 yards on the puppies but the key will be our defense which is the quickest we've had in some time. We have given up a few long plays but none carry to the end zone as in years past. We also return eight defensive starters next year. All in all, this may be the fastest team we've had under Mathews. Final score, Vidor 28 - Nederville 17. The Puppies usually have a good kicker and will get a field goal in. They'll get one touchdown due to officiating. You're down 7 - 0 right now Pirates due to the zebras. You'll have to play with that mentallity.
