1. 10 pages of non-rivalry and counting. Sounds like a new word is cropping up, arrogant. I wish Nederland would have played Texas High in 105 degree heat in Lufkin.  1 - 2 would look so much better on the chihuahuas. bark bark bark
2. Ain't it great what kind of reaction one word can create. Ten pages from two posts based on that word and the game's still a week and a half away. All in all, Nedervillians are good people though. Just a little high strung.....
3. No offense TitanPower but you're the one copying, pasting and answering my messages, not visa versa. Who's doin' the :'( cryin'?
4. I agree, we scheduled Texarkana Texas High. Just wanted to play a series....
5. There are six pages of comment for this thread and the game's two weeks away....sure glad there isn't a rivalry or nothing like that. Black and Gold Bowl....that's great.....too bad we haven't played anyone this year (Texas High, BC, Kirbyville, you getting this?)!!! TitanPower, I'm not even gonna comment on your replies to me because you seem to be an expert, I don't want to bump heads with an expert....first time for me on these boards.....(I mean since 2006 and vidorsports.com).....I just enjoy talking smack on here.....don't know much about sports.
6. NHS1990 / GoDogs27....let's see...what was the final score last year???? And we have a much improved team this year....same bunch of kids that beat you last year plus a couple of extra nightmares for you (Quirante the "Beast"). Your vaunted defense hasn't held anyone under 250 yards of rushing yet....I promise you haven't seen speed yet like we have this year. Have you checked out our defense? Doesn't seem other teams are scoring much. Vidor rushes for 400+ yards on the whining puppies.....and after their refs call back two TDs for holding or some other dreamed up infraction....Mathews has to run out on the field after Nederville receiver catches a pass 10 yards out of the end zone and it's called a TD....we're there until 1:00 a.m. again...... Vidor 28 - Nederville 14.
7. I really think it depends on the kids you have. Liberty Hill won state in 2006 / 07 using the Slot T. Spread offenses can be dealt with if you have some speed on defence.....I love the Slot T because noone knows where your big bruising fullback is going until he pops up under you facemask.
8. Kirbyville has nothing to hang their heads about with this game.....the Kats fought all the way....you can see the playoff tradition kept them fighting....they will be a force to be reckoned with in their district.
9. 3 -0 and we beat some decent teams getting there. Texas High and Kirbyville have programs with playoff tradition; BC had most of their team back from last year....Jeff's staff got the boys playing good football. I feel better about this team than the 2009 team....we finally have some SPEED!!! How about Montana Quirante coming in at QB for 3 plays with the fifty yard run for the score!!!  Too bad he's not a twin. We need him at linebacker more than QB.
10. I started the thread solely to talk about Jeff. There would be a river of tears if we lost him; when Bridge City came courting a few years back you could see the true Pirate fans sweating bullets. And Jeff hires solid coaches who share his philosophy of kids first, everything else is second. He'll get his victories on the field and ONE OF THEM WILL BE NEDERVILLE THIS YEAR!!! By the way, Brian English is a friend of mine and I cried a river of tears when we lost him..... Neumann is a great football coach but this thread is about being an Athletic Director. I will make that comparison anytime and twice on Sunday.....Jeff wins easily.
11. Congrats Indians!!! Looking forward to the game at the reservation. GO PIRATES!!!
12. Great game Pirates. Defense swarming to the ball. Brentyn Clark looked healthy on his return to fullback with some punishing runs. You could hear the smack on our 5th TD the other end of the bleachers. Kirbyville will do well in their district; Vidor just has too much depth for them to keep up with. The Kats were outta gas by halftime.
13. I been around SoulJa. Got tired of some of the non-sports verbage people use on these sights.....just wanta talk sports and smack about sports. Don't like it when it gets personal. Also, my job takes me a lot of places....headed to Thailand next week for two months...gonna miss my Pirates....it's all good though. Sure wanted to see another Central - Vidor battle....always a great game!!! Hope you and your family are well and I'll try to not be a stranger.
14. Hey NHS1990, I'm not talking about 1990, I'm talking about right now. Let's discuss the Mathews years, not ancient history. We had a hard time beating TAPPS schools for a while there.
15. This is easy, who has the most state championships??? I'll take 20-4A and our area. Beaumont at one time had the claim to fame as being the pro football capital of the World. Probably more kids out of WOS (former 4A until four years ago) in the pros now than any school in Texas. I would never admit it in person but it was pretty cool watching PNG set high school attendance records at the Astrodome.......
16. Hey GoDogs27, we hadn't beaten ya'll in football ever until 1976. Now, you are a rival and we beat you on a regular basis, like last year. Jeff wouldn't spend so much time on the field if you weren't playing with 13 players including the ones in black and white stripes like in 2009. Sorry, your first TD was 10 yards out of the end zone. And, since we play in Bulldog Stadium this year, we'll probably be there until 1:00 a.m. again. Looking forward to a great game. Go Pirates!!!
17. Coug21, don't call out my hometown, why bring it up, I do take it personal.....I don't care what race you are.....if the shoe fits.....
18. Christian, Pirate, Texan, American. In that order (except for maybe the Pirate part). That's what Dr. King preached (the content of a man's heart) and not some kinda hyphenated American. Period. Coug21, people like you make me sick to my stomach; racism dies when we all stop being racist and calling out people for past history they didn't participate in, etc. That's a cheap shot and one of the reasons I quit posting a few years back. YOU ARE THE RACIST.
19. I'm just glad my ol' Pirates aren't in this discussion.....I can remember some bad ones.....TJ and South Park loved to run up the score....
20. Kirbyville is a winning program; winning programs are hard to beat. However, paybacks are another thing. Vidor 36 - K'ville 7. By the way K'villekats, I have several friends from Kirbyville and I know they speak better English than what I've seen written in this thread.....gotta be able to read the playbook.....
21. Haven't posted in a long time but have been reading a lot of threads over the years and just wanted to start one concerning someone I think is the most under rated coach in the Golden Triangle, Jeff Matthews. I'm a Pirate from the 70's and can remember playing about 8 homecomings a year and the Interstate 10 Vidor 0 jokes that ran around even though the '75 team went 5-4-1 and we won district two years later all under Ronnie Thompson. However, he didn't stay with the team. After that, we've had mediocre success at best in all sports fields until Jeff was hired as A.D. Jeff hired Brian English (your welcome Nederland) as the basketball coach and we became a district playoff power. He hired Kyle Green and we make the playoffs in baseball every year now. The girls softball team made it to the state championship in 2003. Two years ago, all four major boys sports made the playoffs. And he's the only coach that has anywhere near a winning record with our football team including his playoffs ventures. Seems we don't play very many homecomings anymore unless the other team likes LOSING for homecoming. Lastly, Jeff has had a huge impact on Vidor's image fighting any impression of racism with the Pirate teams producing scholarly, well mannered and competitive young men and women. All of this and having turned down opportunities to coach at other schools including his alma mater, Bridge City. Thank you Jeff for making Vidor a respected power in local sports and for the great job you have done mentoring our children.
