A very average to below average district. Even Woodville is not as good as last year IMO. Cold spring can't win with just 1 play maker on the offensive side of the ball. Buna is scrappy but not very talented on either side of the ball it's the system they are in. Kirbyville is unknown the defense is good the offense you never know which group will show up. Kountze is young and most of their players go both ways. Trinity has some athletic kids but can't get clicking and give up tons on defense. Warren is Warren not enough speed to contend with anyone in the district. The 4 teams that do make it all four will be out by the 3rd round of the playoffs. Dribble dribble will start early.

An "average to below average district" doesn't have a single team make it to the regional semifinals. Woodville is a top-10 team and Coldspring is a top-20 team. Top-to-bottom, this district is only held back by 2 below average teams. It is still a good, competitive district.

The Warren Warriors make the quick 10-minute drive to the heart of Tyler County to take on the state-ranked Woodville Eagles in the annual Tyler County Bowl. Woodville went into Warren last year and put a whomping on the Warriors to the tune of 49-0. The Eagles are, in my opinion, improved from last year and are coming off two impressive wins over a couple of good 4A teams in weeks 3 and 4 (LC-M, 28-14 & Liberty, 21-17). Warren has yet to show any improvement from last year, taking a loss to Hardin last week, 14-42. Woodville rolls on homecoming night in front of a packed stadium and opens district with some fireworks.

**War Memorial Stadium, Liberty High School, Liberty**

The #7 Woodville Eagles (1-1) travel to Liberty to take on the #5 Panthers (2-0) in a battle of two of the better 3A/4A squads in SETX. Woodville is coming off a solid 28-14 win over LC-M, while Liberty downed Coldspring-Oakhurst, 49-34.

Last meeting: 2016 *Liberty leads all-time series, 7-1*

      Liberty 20

      Woodville 16

Both teams are coming off solid performances in Week 3. Woodville played a clean, disciplined game against LC-M, and controlled the line of scrimmage all 4 quarters. Liberty did alot of the same against Coldspring, just with alot more fireworks coming from both offensive units. This week, Woodville comes out and controls the line of scrimmage, wins the turnover battle, and puts together three long, well-executed scoring drives, the last of which eats up 7 of the last 8 minutes in the 4th quarter. This should be a close game like last year, but I smell some revenge brewing.

  5. Penalties and turnovers are the story of this game. Woodville played a very disciplined game. We play like that last week and we beat Madisonville. Zack Martin showed SETX that he is one of the best backs, not only in his class, but in all of SETX. He had 150+ yards and 3 scores. Woodville physically controlled the line of scrimmage in the second half and played a very smart football game. Great game Eagles!

If we would not have had  a hurricane and played the first 2 weeks against jasper and WOS you would have seen a different team.  We are behind the curve and hopefully we will be ready for district. I will say this  about Woodville the running backs run down hill and Y'all have a good team.

Thanks! And I have no doubt it would be a different team in that case!

  7.  Halftime

    Woodville 15

    Little Cypress-Mauriceville 14

Woodville is looking much more disciplined and crisp than last week. Defense is having lapses at times and having trouble containing Winters, but look much better than last week. Offense is getting a good push up front nearly every play, which is allowing for positive yardage on nearly every play.

LC-M is playing well in spurts on offense and Chris Winters is, as-advertised, a very solid runner. Penalties and fumbled snaps are killing the Bears' offense. Defensively, the Bears are much more solid than I thought they would be. They play tough and very aggressively, which is giving Woodville's offense trouble at times.

Overall, this has been a very good, physical football game. Woodville opens the second half with the ball. Definitely not regretting the trip down to Orange County at all!!
