  1. So Huntington will play Lufkin Hudson on Friday at Lufkin High School. The winner of that game will play for 2nd vs Diboll. LCM will play the loser of that second place game. Nothing is ever simple!
  2. LCM 66, WOS 59. Ayson Simmons led the way with 22 pts/4 asst/4 steals, Katon Brown had 16 pts/8 reb, and Keegan Sonnier had 16 pts. KJ Miller scored 18 for the Mustangs. I'll miss watching him play, but won't miss playing against him. LCM is 22-12 (8-2) and the 2 seed in 22-4A. First round playoff opponent TBD.
  3. LCM 56, HF 53. Ayson Simmons led the way with 19, Keegan Sonnier had 12, and Brayden Babineaux 10. Bears are now 21-12 on the year and have clinched 2nd place with one game to go. Senior night is Tuesday vs West Orange Stark in the last game at the Bear Cave. LCM is going to have to play much better.
  4. Coaches, players, and administrators at LCM are deeply embarrassed and saddened at the events that transpired in this evening's basketball game. This type of situation has no business in high school sports or athletic competition anywhere and it is a shame that it occurred. Three Silsbee players were ejected from the game as were two from LCM. I will not list names, but all ejections were for throwing punches. The official ruling on the game was this: ALL players on both teams left the bench area, rendering them ineligible to continue the game. This results in BOTH teams forfeiting. According to the officials at tonight's game, the team leading at this point is awarded a 2-0 victory. That team was Silsbee. It seems that the majority of the posters on this issue are Silsbee fans. That is to be expected given Silsbee's pedigree, but I do not believe they've given a completely accurate portrayal of what actually happened. Players from both sides of this were responsible for this unfortunate incident, but the game film does not show LCM as the aggressor. Quite the opposite, in fact. Furthermore, no LCM players tweeted anything at Silsbee today. That is fiction.
  5. LCM 53, OF 38. Bears led by Ayson Simmons with 14 and Katon Brown with 13 pts, 7 boards, and 6 assists. LCM is now 20-11 on the year and 6-1 in district. First 20 win season in at least 10 years...
  6. Katon Brown was mentioned earlier, but Ayson Simmons of LCM has been fantastic this year.
  7. LCM 44, Bridge City 35. Bears led by Ayson Simmons with 14 pts, 5 boards, and 4 assists and Katon Brown with 12 points and 10 rebounds. BC coaches did a great job slowing the game down tonight and made everything tough. Freshmen and JV also won pulling off the sweep. Bears move to 19-11 on the year and 5-1 in district. LCM will travel to Orangefield on Friday.
  8. The entire school benefits from a new gym. Pep rallies, programs, assemblies. Not to mention volleyball and girls basketball. With that said, I suggest you come check out a basketball game or two...
  9. LCM 64, WOS 59 in 3OT. Ayson Simmons led the Bears with 18 pts, 6 reb, and 5 assists, Braden Bridges had 18, Keegan Sonnier had 11, and Katon Brown had 11 with 6 boards, 5 assists, and 5 steals. Fun game to be at with LOTS of big swings both ways and an excellent atmosphere. Thanks to all the fans that came out tonight. LCM moves to 18-11 on the year and 4-1 in district. Bridge City comes to the Bear Cave on Tuesday.
  10. LCM over Hamshire Fannett 98-46. Bears led by a balanced attack with Jordan Garcia scoring 16, Ayson Simmons 13, Katon Brown 12, Keegan Sonnier 11, Braden Bridges 11, and Christian Weatherly 10. This win sets up a big showdown at WOS on Friday for sole possession of 2nd place. Should be a good one.
  11. Due to Silsbee not having a freshmen team, the JV game will start at 5 and the Varsity game will be directly following at around 6:30.
  12. LCM 57, OF 53. Orangefield jumped all over the Bears and made this thing a dogfight. LCM was led by Katon Brown with with 18 pts, 11 rebs, and 5 assists and Braden Bridges had 17 points. Christian Weatherly provided a lot of energy and hustle off the bench. Bears move to 16-10 on the year and 2-0 in district and play at Silsbee on Friday. Gotta keep improving.
  13. Bears hang on in a tough one against a very well coached Bridge City team. Braden Bridges led the way with 14 (including three straight 3's) and Ayson Simmons with 11. LCM moves to 15-10 on the year and 1-0 in district. We play Orangefield Tuesday in the Bear Cave. Special thanks to the excellent fan and student section turnout.
  14. LCM 75, Liberty 43. Score by quarter LCM: 17, 24, 25, 9. Liberty: 5, 7, 15, 16. Katon Brown scored 31 to go with 9 rebounds, Braden Bridges has 13, and Jacolven Provost 10. Bears move to 14-10 on the year and open district Friday at Bridge City. Special thanks to a great crowd tonight at the Bear Cave!
  15. LCM over Hitchcock 82-81 in overtime. Bears were down 14 at the half and as much as 17 before clawing back. Braden Bridges (22 pts, 6 assists) hit a huge 3 late and Katon Brown (16 pts, 15 rebs, 8 assists) had a tip in to tie with 4 seconds left. Other notables for LCM were Keegan Sonnier with 17 and Jacolven Provost with 12. The big man for Hitchcock was unstoppable and probably scored 35 pts. LCM now 12-7 on the year.
  16. West Orange Stark played a very good game against LCM and is much improved with the addition of some of the football guys. Cory Skinner skipped a 3 off the glass from the corner to go up 1 with five seconds left. Fortunately for us, we get two more shots at the Mustangs. Rivalry should be fun to watch this year.
  17. Kountze outscored LCM 22-5 in the 2nd and never looked back. TJ Stanford was lights out scoring 25 for the Lions, while Katon Brown posted 36 pts, 15 rebs, and 6 steals in the loss. Bears fall to 10-6 on the year.
  18. LCM knocks off one of the tournament favorites in Conroe Oak Ridge, 48-42. Bears led wire to wire and were led by Katon Brown with 12/12 and Ayson Simmons with 10. We needed to win by 8 or more to get in the gold bracket and won by six. Had a layup waived off with four seconds to go that would have done it. Next game at 4 pm.
  19. LCM falls to a very well coached Huffman team 68-56. Katon Brown scored 13 and Braden Bridges had 10. Bears fall to 8-3 and play Conroe Oak Ridge at 8:30 tomorrow for a spot in the fold bracket. Gotta play better...
  20. LCM 68-Tatum 54. Bears led by Ayson Simmons with 18, Braden Bridges with 16, and Katon Brown with 11, 14 boards, and 6 assists. Bears 8-2 on the year and play Huffman at 3.
  21. Bears travel to Jasper and knock off the Bulldogs 52-44. Katon Brown led the way with 13 pts and 10 boards, Braden Bridges scored 11, and Ayson Simmons scored 10. LCM plays Tatum and Huffman Thursday at the HJ Marathon. 7-2 on the year.
  22. LCM wins silver bracket with a 62-51 win over Louisiana Christian followed by a 53-47 win over Vidor. Ayson Simmons scored 26 against the Pirates. Bears are now 6-2 on the year and go to Jasper on Tuesday. Great tournament hosted by Nederland and congrats to the Kelly Bulldogs.
  23. LCM plays Louisiana Christian at 10:30. Should be a very good test for the Bears. Not sure on times, but PNG plays Vidor and Barbers Hill plays West Orange Stark.
  24. Bears finally broke out on offense hitting 7 threes tonight. Ayson Simmons put up 19 points, 6 boards, and six steals, Soph Braden Bridges scored 16, and Katon Brown had a double-double with 11 pts and 11 boards. LCM moves to 3-1 on the year and plays Kelly Thursday at 12 in Nederland.
  25. Right next to the old one. With all due respect, we have NEVER been last in that district. Our last year with the Beaumont schools we finished fourth in district and lost to CE King in OT in the bi-district game. We beat Ozen that year at the Bear Cave. I think Bluedove will remember that game if you do not...
