  1. You coached somewhere far, far away a long, long time ago? I also have coached a little bit and in my experience, there are no individuals. Basketball is a team game. Individuals make plays and mistakes, but the only thing that matters is the team winning or losing. I don’t give a damn who scores or takes the shots as long as we got the job done. Winning district at a place like Bridge City is an accomplishment that deserves celebration rather than criticism. Great job to that team, staff, and admin. For the record, I was not at this game, but I think calling a 15 yr old selfish on a public forum is reckless.
  2. I think you are putting your own personal agenda above what is likely the best for that team. There is always plenty to improve on, but questioning chemistry and team dynamics 30ish games into a season is not productive. You are what you are at this point and it’s time to be the best version of that possible. You know who makes deep runs? Talented teams with guys that make plays. And the freshmen for Bridge City is one of those guys. Let the professionals worry about how to manage their squad. I promise they aren’t just sitting around twiddling their thumbs.
  3. Queue up the Nick Saban “rat poison” speech. Bridge City is playing just fine and the staff has it under control. God forbid we enjoy a little success.
  4. I guess Duncanville wasn't available?
  5. Wasn't at this game, but there's no chance it was more entertaining than this thread. This is what I am here for.
  6. No PNG anywhere? I think they have a great year.
  7. All-District picks are just another way to compete. It's all well and good to think coaches should vote objectively, but I think most coaches are more concerned with taking care of their own guys...as they should be. The TABC predictions are also skewed as there are all kinds of different agendas, coaches not submitting votes, etc. Only thing that matters is results on the floor.
  8. Nederland fans have been spoiled for a long time. The reality is Nederland had a great coach in Neumann and benefited from always being towards the higher end of the district's enrollment numbers. Numbers play a huge factor in football and the Dogs are currently on the low end. To piggyback off the poster defending Monte, the kids have changed in Nederland. This is not a racial statement, but more an observation in parenting and blue collar mentality. The toughness that was once a staple isn't the same and because of it, the old camp fun way of doing things just doesn't work. More a shot at modern parenting than the kids themselves. This observation probably applies to more than just Nederland. This Nederland group just isn't all that talented...and they've had injury issues. Poor cycles and bad luck happen. I'm not saying Coach Rich is infallible, but his team last night wasn't even close to this PNG group. Lots of sophomores are getting major minutes and the underlevels still seem to be winning. The future is bright and I believe we can't judge this coach until he's had 3-4 seasons. There are ex-coaches in this thread with an ax to grind, disgruntled parents, and a bunch of others who have little clue as to what they are talking about. Remember, sports are supposed to be fun. If you can't watch without being miserable and wanting to fire everyone, its time to find something else to do. Go Dogs!
  9. Keener hasn't been at Friendswood in years. Danny Russell is the coach there now. Jeff sells for a school fundraising company now. Really good guy.
  10. For everyone involved, I hope not. Everyone who left the bench that game was ejected, leaving neither team with enough to finish the game. Result was a double forfeit. West Brook fans should expect this to count as a loss. The four kids who initiated the fight were all suspended for the next game. All of the suspensions were recommended by the UIL, but school's discretion. One Silsbee player was suspended the rest of the season. Both programs placed on probation for two years. At least that's what I heard the UIL ruled... You can thank that brawl for the UIL instituting the automatic one game suspension after an election, which is honestly a good policy. These fights like this are pretty scary when they involve multiple players and leak into the stands. Needs to stop.
  11. I remember the good ole days when parents could put team goals above personal agendas. Eric Peevey is a good coach and that's a good staff full of good men. They didn't forget how to coach, lead, or discipline. They will win a lot of games this year. Try to enjoy it.
  12. Andrew was a four year varsity player at LCM. He was then a student assistant at Lamar for three years with Tic Price. He also played a major role in LCM making two straight runs to the regional quarterfinals. He's a high energy, great young coach. Bridge City will be very pleased with this hire.
  13. Oh yea...not sure what their problem was. We even offered them a million to come to Orange like all the big colleges do. No luck!
  14. LCM22-23 Basketball Schedule.doc
  15. The Auburn people think he's going to....Washington.
  16. Tre Johnson put on an absolute show and that game was fantastic. However, Duncanville did not have an All-American there so I would still say they are the favorite. I'll say it was weird having the crowd pulling against Duncanville in Duncanville.
  17. You'll still get the calls. Also, for those interested, the dunk count was 10-5 in favor of Washington.
  18. Washington 89, LCM 65 Ben Elliott 22, Alantheon Winn 20, Miguel Molina 12 pts/12 rebounds, Da'Marion Morris 8 for the Bears. Washington led by Kenneth Lewis with 40, Chris McDermott with 18, Andre Walker 18. Washington moves on to play Austin LBJ and LCM finishes the year 24-14. We had a good run at the end of the year and just ran into a monster with BTW. Lots of experience and production coming back for us so hopefully next year is another successful season. Thanks to all of our family and friends for the support all year and thanks to Mike Sanchez for all his work on this board. Also, best of luck to the local teams still playing.
  19. LCM 53, Vidor 34 Ben Elliott 18, Da'Marion Morris 14 LCM 17-8 (3-0) will host Orangefield on Friday for Support the Troops Night.
  20. LCM 76, West Orange Stark 62 Ben Elliott 24, Alantheon Winn 20, Noah Fuller 12, Da'Marion Morris 10, Miguel Molina 8. Bears move to 15-7 (2-0) are off on Friday and will go to Vidor on Tuesday.
  21. LCM 65, Jasper 64 in double OT. Ben Elliott 21, Alantheon Winn 15, Noah Fuller 12, Kasey Head 8 for the Bears. Jamario Thomas had 13 points and 11 assists for Jasper. LCM moves to 12-7 (1-0) and is off until the LCM/International Paper Classic on December 30-31.
  22. LCM 59, Huffman 63 Alantheon Winn 23/12 boards, Ben Elliott 16 for LCM. Grey Soileau 22, Luke Thomas 16 for Huffman. Bears (7-4) will play Aransas Pass and Nederland in the HJ Tournament on Thursday.
  23. LCM 55, Nederland 50 Ben Elliott 19, Alantheon Winn 17/12 boards. LCM (4-1) will play in the Aransas Pass tournament this weekend.
  24. Stacey Brister is the absolute best!
