82 5A State Champs

OK!

i thought they were a bit over-hyped a few weeks ago until i found out who they had coming back on offense. Lufkin can win state. No they cant, and they wont! There's too many other good teams out there that will beat them when it counts. They got lucky in this game. IMO, WB didn't play to their potential and Lufkin caught them on a bad day. They will look like another team against Ozen next week. Stump will have them motivated and in playing form. Granted, we are going to have some growing pains, and will have a few bumps in the road along the way, but Ozen is definitely no Lufkin. It should be a good game.

If they can win a championship in THAT district would be saying something. Making the playoffs would be a more attainable goal, IMO. Good luck to the Pirates this season.

Ya know, he manages to say the right things at the right time. I'm looking forward to the challenges that await us this year!

All I know is that Brook is in trouble. I hope they don't get exploited too much for the Katy game... ;) I heard that! The problem is, we might get exploited by either of a couple of schools before we get beat down by Katy. Yes SgtRey, I know Bruce is very talented, but he has not seen a snap of varsity competition......especially at the QB position. It's going to take a few weeks for everything to fall into place, and we might have a pretty good team in the making, but we haven't done anything yet. Rankings are nice, but they dont mean a thing when it comes to winning games. Your right 82...did you see the scrimmage today? No, I missed it.....how did we look?

Oh absolutely.....especially if they "blow through teams" like that young man said. LOL! I honestly hope they become more competitive, but I dont see them blowing through anybody.....maybe blowing up!

After reading some of the comments and hate on this thread, you don't deserve an explanation. Great job again on the rankings! But you of all people know that these are like the NCAA selections. No matter how thought out they are, someone is going to gripe! Appreciate it.. I do agree with you! Some people have no clue the amount of research, analyzing, reanalyzing and discussions it takes with different people and coaches to put this stuff together. I have spent several months on this material and to get disrespected for the results of how I put it together is an absolute insult. Cry and whine when they don't see their team in a certain spot. In the end, rankings mean nothing but I spend several months on it. We all appreciate the hard work you put into those rankings.....but if I can make a suggestion. I know that you mostly do this work by yourself, but it would be really helpful if you could manage to stay on top of updating the site within a reasonable time after games have been played. I used to really enjoy your site, and it's still in my favorites, but I guit visiting your site because it seemed like the info was two to three weeks old, and scores were not updated regularly.

Coach Durley never coached at Forest Park. He was the HC at Hebert, and became the HC for West Brook when Hebert merged with Forest Park.

OMG! Who comes up with this stuff? I bet they put all the teams on a Twister wheel and spin......whoever the needle hits first, is the #1 ranked team. What a joke. It's almost as bad as the 5A poll......... Where's Central on that poll? Last year they are a state quarterfinalist, and this year PN-G and Lumberton are ranked, in the state poll and in the Region 3 poll, and the Jags aren't? "Something stinks in suburbia!"

unless micheals little brother get as good as him WB will struggle for sometime to come... OMG, you never cease to amaze me at some of the ignorant things that you say. Last years team was not about a one-man team. True, Michaels was an offensive threat, and he has gone on to bigger and better things....but he was not ALL of the offensive production. I can tell you, his brother is not as good as he was. Like Bear said, this year is going to be about getting a young team some experience and preparing for the 2010 season. We will be OK this year, and we will lose some games. Our defense is definitely going to be one of our strong points this year, and with some experience at the skill positions, we should be in good shape for the playoffs. Stick around and see what the 2010 team looks like, cause from what I hear and see, we are gonna give some teams a run for their money. And NO, we will not be struggling for sometime...as you say. We are young and inexperienced, but we're gonna be OK this year.

No real suprises there.....except for West Brook. A preseason #33 state ranking is too high......we want to fly under the radar.

I cant believe we are actually entertaining this thread. I stand behind my Bruins no matter what the situation. Most of you that know me will tell you that I am a straight shooter and I call them like I see them. I mean nothing bad when I say this, but West Brook will get spanked by Katy....especially since the game is being played at their house. We might be able to play with them for the first quarter or so, but they will eventually adjust to our game plan and will shut us down. Typical Katy football.......I predict Katy 42 West Brook 10.

WOW! You're pretty optimistic aren't you? I could see a Beaumont school going 4-6 with that schedule. Geez!

I dont think there would be State Championship predictions for one reason: It would never work in Beaumont because the best coaches wouldn't get hired, and the best players wouldn't be on the field. Race and the 'Buddy' system would get in the way of having a top notch program.

Well, Ozen and WB will be running identical offenses this season, if it makes you feel better. If they're not at Ozen, then where are all the good athletes at these days? It's surely not in the West End. I still believe that there is plenty of talent in the Pear Orchard, and I believe Nelson will utilize it beautifully.
