I was one that didn't want Peevey. It was nothing against him, I just preferred a more experienced coach with a track record of winning. Now I also posted on several threads that I think Peevey is doing a good job. People are going to question the coach at every turn. Its just the nature of the beast. Now this off season Peevey can prove he's a really good head coach by getting rid of Harper and going get some defense coaches that knows what they are

    Agreed.

  2. On paper, West Brook is the better team. If the kids show up focused, ready to play, with the right game plan in place, then I think this is a very winnable game, this week. However, if they show up playing with no sense of urgency, and dig themselves into a hole, again, then this could be the last game for them.

  3. Say what you want, dude, but I stand by what I said. At that time, their coaching decisions did stink. The last two weeks, the kids have been totally unprepared to start the game. I give credit where credit is due, but i call it like I see it. Their game plan to start the last 2 games stunk, and subsequently fell behind. However, they made some decent in game adjustments, and were able to get the kids to rally back, and get the win. The things that I have said, are nothing different than other posters have said, i just say it with a little less tact. Whooptedoo. You dont like what I say, keep scrolling. Its that simple, Tiger2010.

  4. I think Peevey was a good hire, and the players love him. I'm not sure who everyone is talking about, but I think he's done a good job, as a whole. There have been some questionable coaching decisions, but that happens anywhere. No coach is perfect, and no team is perfect. However, if a person points out the lack of apparent gameplan, and the fact that the defense wasn't up to par, and had to play from behind the last two weeks, as an attack on the coaching staff. Well, that's your problem. The fact of the matter is this, the kids weren't ready to play, and found themselves in a 21 point hole to start out. However, they made the necessary adjustments, and were able to get the win. My point is if they enter this game with the same seemingly lackadaisical start, West Brook may not be able to come back. I would rather see them come out strong, and not have to play from behind. But, what do I know?

Good job, WB. When is last time they made it this far ?

Yes, 1997 was the las time. Chip Ambres was the QB, and we lost to Alief Hastings, in the Astrodome. If West Brook wins this game against Cypress Creek, and Brook is favored to win, it will mark only the 2nd time theyve madevit to the state semifinals. The only other time they made it this far, was the 1982 season, when they won the whole thing.

  6. Calpreps has it West Brook 41 Cy Creek 26. And yes, for Gods sake, our defense has to show up, and play. Also, at this level, we simply cannot afford to spot a team 21 points, and expect to come back and win. That foolishness has to stop. The coaches have got to do a better job of preparing those kids to do battle. Cy Creek will bring the house, and they will be ready. I dont care that their record is 8-5. They didnt get here by accident. We need to make them adjust to us, not vice versa.

The OC at Tompkins is a former North Shore assistant. I’m hearing that he’s mentioned they won’t have a problem putting up points on WB (basically calling the defense soft)

In addition that they figure since their defense is subpar that we may be in for a shoot out Saturday in NRG

    Getcha’ popcawn ready lol

Yeah, our defense is probably a little above average. They've got speed, and stop the run fairly well, and hit hard. They're not a great defense, but I wouldn't necessarily say they're soft. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if we had to simply outscore them to get the win.

CalPreps also had Strake winning lol

Im a realist. I can see them winning region 3. But not beating Westlake (semis) Westfield, or Longview (final)

But who picked the Brook to win it all in 82 after barely making the playoffs. Anything is possible

West Brook snuck in the playoffs on the last week of the season with a win over Vidor, and because PN-G beat French. That alone, in the first year, would have been an accomplishment. What was so remarkable about that team is, Durley got that defense playing better, and better, each week. They were the underdog in every game. But, with wins over state ranked Dickinson, Houston Memorial, and Converse Judson, the game against the states top ranked defense, in LD Hurst Bell, was almost anticlimatic. Bell was 14-0-1, coming into that game, and was suppose to wipe the floor with West Brook. The little old school from Beaumont beat them easily, 21-10, and put the Bruins on the map. Interesting tidbit, the Bruins finished 11-4-1 that season, in winning the state championship. No other West Brook team has ever bested 11 wins. We have had several 11 win seasons since then, but no Brook team has ever won 12 games in a season. Could this be the year it happens? We will find out Saturday. So yes, anything is possible.

  9. West Brook is favored against Cypress Creek, Summer Creek, and Katy Tompkins. Of course, all that means nothing if our kids dont show up mentally, and physically prepared to do battle. And I pray they are simply not looking past any opponent. One game at time! Just for fun, I looked ahead to a possible gsme against Austin Westlake, and Longview, both. It wasn't pretty for Brook. Lol! But, thats why we play the game.

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!

    20 carries for McGrue

    15 carries for Holland

    8-10 carries for Elia

    Should be enough

Tompkins defense is avg at best

Based on what you're saying about their defense, is it safe to assume we shouldnt have a problem putting points on the board? I'd like to think we've faced, and beaten tougher defenses. Does this team have good speed, and can they cause problems for us?

    Huh? What happened

That means they better find a punter and quickly. Field position and special teams are important this time of year

Well, we've got #44 Harris Downer, who has kicked for us in the past, but not much as of late. He is more than capable of driving the ball deep, and handling the punting, and kicking duties. I think we'll be ok in that department. I was more concerned about losing Yoeman.
