  1. no doubt, it's going to be a tough fought game; but if our defense continues to improve, and our offense continues to mix it up and keep defenses guessing, then I think WB has a better than average chance of knocking off a very good CY-Falls team. Keep in mind, this is a Cy-Falls team that Katy had to come from behind to beat last year in the Regional Finals.....but that was last year! I'm very proud of our boys, even if they don't get past this game. All they've done is lay the the groundwork for future success at the Brook. NOTE: this is the first time in school history that the Bruins have advanced this far in the playoffs in consecutive years. Although they won the state championship in 1982, they lost in the second round in 1983 to Dickinson,10-0.

  2. I'll be there......let me extend a challenge to the golden triangle. Since there are no other local teams left to go and root for, why don't you guys make the hour drive to the other side of the beltway(Galena Park I.S.D. Stadium), and support the Bruins. The Cy-Falls team that we're playing is gonna be the toughest and most mirrored team the Bruins have faced this year. What I mean when I say that is, they are a lot like WB, as far as talent and style of offense and defense. We have a very good chance of winning this game and advancing to the Regional Finals/state quarterfinals. Come and support the Bruins, should be a great game! :)

  3. Well' date=' with only a couple of teams left to play and just about nobody left in the playoffs from this area, tell me your thoughts on the area football this year. Me personally, I don't think atleast for this year we as the golden triangle could compete. Please give me ya'lls insight on this.[/quote']hey.....what about WB? how easily we forget? the Bruins are THE only team still alive. Give credit where credit's due! 8)
  4. Even though it was early in the season' date=' the score between Cy Falls and Westfield is scary. That's the same team that smoked WB early in the season. Proud 92' grad of WB converted to NDN, GO BROOK![/quote']please, keep this in mind.....1)the 35-0 score in that game does not indicate how close the game really was. 2) it was a preseason game that i think the coaches and players were probably expecting to not win. 3) that game was played without QB Joe Chaisson. This is a much better team under much different circumstances. I think the outcome might suprise some folks. What does WB have to lose? Most folks in the Houston area have already counted WB out!
  5. West Brook has had two good running backs this season: Albert Williams, Jr., 1345 yds, 145 attempts, 15TD's, 9.3 avg........Christian Michael, Soph., 1261 yds, 137 attempts, 21 TD's, 9.2 avg........ I think they'll both add to their stats, as WB will play for at least one more game, this weekend against Cy-Falls, 3rd round of 16!!!! :D

  6. looks like it will probably be the toughest team the Bruins will have faced. their offense is much like WB's(2532 yards rushing, 2073 yards passing, for 4605 yards on the season-383.8 yards per game). WB's offense has sputtered at times but is the current offensive leader in the greater houston area of teams that are still playing, (3234 yards rushing, 1661 yards passing, for 4895 total yards on the season-407.9 yards per game). i guess it's going to come down to who's defense is better up to the task....i hope the Brook D is up to it! I have to wonder how well Cy-Falls defends the run? 'cause that's what they're gonna see from us! :D

  7. well, cy-falls appears to be team that throws the ball pretty well. defending the pass has been one of WB's weaknesses this year. however, the defense is DEFINITELY playing better than it was two weeks ago. i guess i would have to give the edge to WB, If the defense continues to improve! :D also, i'm not sure the golden eagles have seen an ofensive spread like WB's, which should be an advantage. i think the Brook will win....er, hope they win! :P

  8. well, it looks like WB is in fact going to be the only southeast texas team left after tonight, because nederland is getting beat pretty badly. it sounds like WB's defense is finally playing back to form, and the offense is obviously doing it's job. Great job BRUINS! Cy-Falls is a team that likes to pass the ball, and WB has not done particularly well against pass happy teams. hopefully we will get all of our defense back from injuries for next weeks game, we are gonna need'em to, again, play four corner football. but, if there is a team that can beat cy-falls, and give katy a good run for it's money.... right now i'd have to say it's probably WB! but that's still another 2 weeks away. good luck next weekend Bruins!

  9. Well, it's nice to finally see, and hear, from folks that are proud of WB and are not afraid to vocally support our team. I agree with the comments regarding the ref's in the Channelview game. It was plainly obvious where they came from. It seems like every home game for the Brook this year has been met with indifference on the part of the referree's. I know the Kingwood game was like that (lots of partial calls for Kingwood). Hopefully Dr. Jeckyl will not rear his ugly head today, or for the rest of the season. Go BROOK! :D:lol: CO, you are totally correct in your observation about the crowd noise.....years ago, from the other side of the stands, SoundPower almost could not be heard over the crowd. It would be nice to get that same fan support again....maybe this team could go somewhere,i.e. a state championship!!! :P

  10. oooooh, i dont know about that state championship!? there are still some very tough teams ahead, i.e, cy-falls, katy......at this point, there is not a more dominant team on either side of the bracket than katy. if WB were to get that far, i seriously doubt that WB could beat them. but if they did, i think WB would have to be a favorite to win it!!

  11. i sure hope your right, man!! the bruin defense is still pretty banged up from the port arthur memorial game....but our guys are slowly starting to come back and get back into form. last week we got billy chavis back. hopefully, if we win tomorrow, we'll get jacody coleman back for next week's game!
