  1. Same here … I enjoy having an outlet in which to debate/bicker/argue over some fairly important subjects. There aren’t a lot of boards that I’m aware of that are free, local, have consistent posters, and are somewhat anonymous. I’d hate to see it disappear. I’d also like to say that I wasn’t at all offended by Lumraiderfan’s comment. I hate to see him get benched over what we used to call a “burn” or a “dig.” I’m also going to try even harder to voice my opinions in ways that don’t insult the other posters. Let’s try to police our behavior ourselves before the mods get involved.
  2. No, you said that my mom lived in a double-wide. Don’t back down now.
  3. No, he called your mom a double-wide… I’m taking up for you.
  4. Are you calling Baddog’s mom a double-wide? That’s not cool.
  5. Sending the Boomers (and Barron, of course) as the boots on the ground would solve the housing crisis, open up tons of good jobs, reduce the strain on our healthcare system, and quite frankly would be hilarious, since they’re the ones who got us in this mess to begin with.
  6. You do realize that things change over time, right? At one point we as a country were arguing over whether or not slaves were human beings.
  7. Here’s my opinion. Somebody should have spoken up when we, the supposed good guys, started executing people aboard boats in intentional water on the suspicion that they MIGHT be hauling drugs (not even a capital offense if proven guilty in a court of law). But y’all didn’t. When Trump, all by himself, decided to overthrow the government in Venezuela and pillage their assets, somebody should have spoken up… but y’all didn’t. Now that Trump has seen fit to throw the full weight and might of the US military at a country who wasn’t an imminent threat, targeting their leaders for execution, then subsequent leaders for execution, against international law… nobody will say anything. I believe that what comes around goes around, you’ll reap what you sow, karma, kismet, and for every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction. I think we’re going to pay a heavy price for the unprovoked actions that we’re taking. And at this point all of the decisions are being made by a corrupt hotel developer/rapist with severe narcissistic tendencies, being advised by people whose only qualification is unwavering loyalty to said pervert. What could possibly go wrong? And supposing that we do leave Iran in 3 weeks as promised, with a new democratic, peaceful government hand-selected by Trump in place…. Who are we going to attack next?
  8. And that’s why yall fail. The only thing more dumb than the Dems carrying on about transgender issues is yall using it as a rallying cry to get voters out. NOBODY CARES ABOUT TRANSGENDER ISSUES EXCEPT THE RADICALS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE. Donald Trump is a way bigger threat to women and children, as evidenced by his repeated sexual assaults of women (admitted by Trump and proven in Court) and his coverup of and inclusion in the evidence of pedophilia and sex trafficking that are detailed in Epstein’s files. But you’re worried because some messed up kid is more comfortable pissing sitting down in a stall in the girls’ room than dealing with the homophobic bullies in the boys’ room. May the scales fall from your eyes.
  9. The only people worrying about genitals are Republicans.
  10. I don’t know which is funnier… that Trump lied to y’all, or that you still support him. Repeal and replace Obamacare, release the Epstein files, prices will go down on day one, no new wars, and on and on and on. Y’all are like those wives with a black eye because her husband got caught cheating AGAIN, but you’re still standing by that jerk “because I still love him.”
  11. On separate note, Trump announced yesterday that he won’t sign any legislation passed by Congress until after they pass his Voter Suppression Act. And now it has to include language about banning men in women sports and a ban on transitioning the gender of minors… this language wasn’t included in the version that was passed by the House. Some people say that it’s Trump forcing Republicans to get behind the unconstitutional bill, because nobody wants to be the R who voted against a measure that would strip rights from transgenders. But those votes were already in the bag… I think he’s actually worried that it’s gathered enough Dem support to pass, and he doesn’t want that to happen. If the Save Act were passed, he can’t immediately just seize control or cancel elections when “his” plan hasn’t even been tried out yet. He knows that his goose is cooked in November if the people are allowed to vote.
  12. This… and they were never going to vote for a black woman to be president. That has more to do with it than a love of Trump. They didn’t fall in love with him after ‘20, they just didn’t want Kamala. I’ve been saying for years that instead of courting the white racists, the Rs should have been cultivating a relationship with the God-fearing, family-minded, fiscally conservative Mexican Immigrants. They’d have become voters for life…. Instead we have dipsticks like “I speak American” Pete Hegseth trying to talk to South American leaders on Thursday.
  13. Republicans deserve what’s coming because they abandoned all of their principles to support a man who has none of them. It’s so laughable. It took Trump four years to destroy the economy, lose both houses of Congress, get impeached twice, and try to stop the peaceful transfer of power after he lost the election. So the morons re-elected him and it’s happening even faster this time around…. We can toss “raised taxes on working Americans with unlawful tariffs, weaponized the Justice Department to persecuted his perceived enemies and protect a pedophile/trafficking ring of which he was a member, illegally kidnapped the leader of a South American country and stole their oil reserves, and started a global conflict in the Middle East” to the list. And in a couple of weeks, you’ll be able to add attacked Cuba to the list. I pray to God every night that the third impeachment leads to a conviction.
  14. Paxton is corrupt. The only thing wrong with Cornyn is that he’s a decent man and y’all despise that.
  15. They were ready for us after we sent them home from the football playoffs earlier this year.
  16. Well, now that it’s been proven that we don’t need a wall (since illegal immigration completely stopped simply because Donald Trump crossed his fingers and swore on the Bible on 1/20/25), you should be glad that we didn’t borrow money to build an unnecessary wall, right?
  17. I’m a conservative. I don’t follow Dem primary politics very closely-and there’s practically none of them in our area. But make no mistake… all sides lie upon the other party, and even upon their fellow party members. My example just used a Republican example, made more egregious by the fact it happened in a church and was apparently not a dealbreaker for the pastor of said church.
  18. What bugs me are the ones who know what they’re spreading is false, but keep doing it because they know that it will affect the outcome. I think that’s why the voters punished Rhonda Ward in her race for SB3 vs Ashby. I went to a forum at a church in Hardin County and Ward got up and plainly stated “Ashby voted for x,y, and z.” Ashby then stood up and said “I did NOT vote for x,y, and z.” I sat up a little straighter because it’s obvious somebody just stood up and told a big fat fib right there in the house of the Lord. The minister got up and said “well, one thing’s for sure… there will be a record of it.” Ward got up and re-stated “well, it’s a type of motion that they don’t actually vote upon, but certain people voiced their opposition… Ashby didn’t voice his opposition, so we all know that “not voting no is the same thing as voting yes.” Ah… there we go. No one actually voted, but he didn’t voice his opposition, therefore “he voted for it.” Got it. And her supporters were still repeating the lie right up until the bitter end, knowing that it was untrue. Best part of the story? The preacher publicly endorsed Ward before the election. She walked into his church, stood in front of his pulpit, and lied. But he still endorsed her. That’s MAGA today. Danny O’Pry from Candlestick Baptist, if you were wondering.
  19. That’s why I was taken aback when Paxton supporters came out in favor of closed primaries claiming that Ds crossed over and voted for Cornyn… I’m pretty sure that the type of Ds who would potentially cross over to raise havoc were all pretty heavily invested in the Talarico/Crockett race. But I can’t help but notice a theme. Every time there’s a policy proposed that would limit a citizen’s right or ability to vote, it always comes from the Rs.
  20. Of course…. Everybody knows that. I wasn’t wrong, i just wasn’t clear. I edited it… see if it makes more sense.
  21. So why did Cornyn just outpoll Paxton in the primary? Because “We the People” aren’t who they think they are. Y’all would hate Paxton for his corruption if he wasn’t sold out to Trump. Period. That’s it. That’s all it takes. “Prove your loyalty to the Cheeto and you’ll have ours” is what MAGA actually means. Typically a runoff favors the challenger. “Change” is a bigger motivation to vote than “keep the status quo.” I wonder if this runoff will be any different… I kinda think so. I don’t expect anybody from the Cornyn camp to switch to Paxton in May or vice versa. The two big questions in my mind are: 1.Hunt voters… they want change, but could have chosen Paxton-he was a much more likely win than hunt, but they didn’t. I suspect it’s because they just won’t vote Paxton. If less than half of Hunt voters turn back to Cornyn, he wins. If those hunt voters stay home, Cornyn wins. Paxton needs most of the Hunt voters to flip Paxton if he wants to beat Cornyn, and I think that’s unlikely. 2. But the real wild card is the voters who didn’t vote in the primaries. There isn’t a major primary in May, so they’re free to vote in the Rep senate runoff (if they didn’t vote in March) much like Rush had Repubs vote Hillary years ago. I also suspect that if the Dems can mobilize them, they’ll vote Paxton because he’s polling lower than Cornyn against Talarico. If you see monstrous turnout (more than just r voters), it’ll favor Paxton. The main concern is who Trump selects to represent Texans, and if Texans are cool with some stupid yankee rapist/pedophlle selecting our local representation, but apparently Republicans are cool with that. What happens if Trump endorses Cornyn, Paxton won’t drop out, and Dems get behind Paxton in the runoff? How does Trump punish Texas in that scenario? Because you know that he will. This one is way more interesting to me than it should be. I’ll vote cornyn in May (if he’s still in) and Talarico in November if Paxton is the r candidate.
  22. There is no “deep state.” It’s just two different teams selling fables to their supporters. Russian collusion, Ukrainian quid pro quos, election interference, voter fraud… all just made up nonsense to get their bases motivated to vote. A lot of people pick a side and stay loyal, no matter what.
  23. The idea that Paxton is virtuous and all others an are “swamp rats” indicates an unreasonableness that quite simply shouldn’t go without a complete psychological examination. But back on subject. My opinion goes like this. No matter which R candidate is chosen, Trump gets an automatic “yes” vote on everything. He just needs one of them to get elected, but the outcomes for Trump wont change unless Talarico gets elected. I like cornyn’s chances of getting endorsed and nominated better now that he finished first in the primary. BUT Paxton’s AG position brought with it a license to legitimately raise havoc on a statewide and federal level. Paxton’s willingness to pursue baseless claims and loyalty to Trump were invaluable. As AG he could sue anybody, make any outlandish claim, IGNORE ANY CRIMINALITY, etc… as a senator he can do what? Vote yes? Vote no? Sponsor a bill that never sees the floor of the senate? It’s a waste of his experience and lack of principles. That’s why I believe that the backers like Tim Dunn didn’t want Paxton to run for Senator. But I’m not sure where this leaves everybody. Paxton will need a job. Could Trump have him picked to succeed Bondi? Her job expectancy should be measured in minutes, not months at this point. It’s also important to note that the senate is the more refined of the two bodies. You typically don’t have the theatrics that you see in the House. I suspect that the last thing that any of the senators want is Paxton on the scene, being Paxton. Rand Paul is bad enough. Do they want a complete tool who’s willing to do anything and everything to please Trump, no matter what, while effectively lowering the average IQ of the whole body? No. And they might have Trump’s ear on the thing. “Endorse Cornyn and we’ll pass the SAVE Act,” or something like that. It’s too early to tell, but generally speaking Paxton would make a crappy addition to the Senate, while also losing his effectiveness and range as Trump’s lap dog. in my opinion, of course.
  24. Oh, my… The news today is that Paxton stated that he wouldn’t withdraw from the Senate race if Trump endorsed Cornyn. Trump fired back with “that’s bad… it might make me endorse the other guy (Cornyn).” [Hidden Content] Later this afternoon Paxton somewhat backed off saying that IF the SAVE Act were passed, etc, he would drop out if Trump endorses Cornyn. Let me get this straight. A candidate needs to preemptively agree to drop out of the race if not endorsed by Trump in order to gain the endorsement? That’s bananas. Here’s a question for Reagan, and anybody else that supports Paxton. If Trump endorses Cornyn, will you move your support to Cornyn? Do the voters in Texas get to pick their next senator, or does the President? I think Trump probably prefers Paxton, but also recognizes that Paxton is a liability in the general election. If Trump loses enough senate seats, he might not be able to fight off any of his future impeachments. He needs Cornyn to win against Talarico. But he’s also going to have to find a job for Paxton, since Paxton will be out of a job on 1/1/27. I could also see Trump offering Paxton tbt US AG spot if Bondi goes down. I think Trump is playing games and will endorse Paxton shortly.
