If your team changed its mascot ?

Who was responsible for Bridge City becoming the Cardinals? I mean, seriously...what qualities does a cardinal have that we are trying to exemplify? A voracious appetite for earthworms? Somebody should have lost their job over that crap. -

DCTF Area District Predictions
TheMissingBand replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Strange. WO-S usually top 10 as a given due to past history and reputation. This year they have several D1 candidates and rank 23. DCTF puts high emphasis on D1 prospects and returning starters on making their rankings. This may be good for WO-S although they may not bust the top 10 due to their schedule. But I do see them making a post season run. The defense sounds pretty stout from what I've been reading.
They have to get past a pretty good BC team and Silsbee team in district. -
Lumberton Raider offense
TheMissingBand replied to raidernaytion's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The answer is easier than the current high school OC. Some levels of STJFL field as many as three teams per age group from Lumberton. Most of the other schools that are represented in Lumberton's district field 2 or three teams as well. Since Lumberton has only one Junior High, you condense two or three teams worth of talent into one team, while Port Neches AND Groves field multiple teams... Nederland fields multiple teams, too. Each of those teams continues to develop multiple layers of talent, and eventually merge to form a high school unit from the best kids from as many as four 8th grade teams. The kids from Lumberton are at a disadvantage because they don't get to develop in practice and games, up to the point that a lot of good kids give up over lack of involvement before they ever develop into their full potential. There really isn't a good solution for that problem. Lots of empty seats on the L-train these days, btw.... -
Bridge City, of course. I'm excited to see BC taking on some good non-district opponents.

Colmesneil looking for an assistant FB coach
TheMissingBand replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Man, that's a disappointment. I thought they needed an assistant Facebook Coach. I think I would be good at coaching kids about the 'book and several other social media sites. -
So, if y'all had converted for two, you would have squeaked out a tie? I stand corrected. Just admit that we won handily in 2011, and admit that if y'all hadn't gone to play Pop Warner in 2010, you would have likely lost to us then, too. If not, we'll just have to agree to wait and see what happens when these two teams meet up again this year. Ok, who besides me and Rake is excited about seeing a little BC-WOS 8th grade football?

When will WOS lose another district game?
TheMissingBand replied to BADSANTA's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The fact is this. Y'all were lucky to avoid getting beat in your own house by the Cards last year. There wasn't a butt on the bleachers on either side until we got stopped on fourth down, driving for the lead in the final minute. So when you guys come on here, talking about shutting out every opponent in district, and wondering whether or not your're ever going to lose a district game... Well, it's motivating. Did you notice that you guys aren't even ranked this year? It's kinda like when everybody knows that some guy's fly is open but him. It's gonna be sweet. -
I'll tell you like this. You were at that game, too, obviously. And I distinctly remember that your boys didn't like getting hit. A lot of the WOS fans were complaining about our boys hitting too hard. And also remember how those WOS kids couldn't tackle to save their lives. I remember when our RB hurdled one of your DBs on the way to another touchdown... The photo was on KOGT. It looked like that DB hadn't tried to tackle too many people. And honestly, after taking a year off from competitive football to play a little Pop Warner, I shouldn't have been surprised by how bad y'all looked. Besides, we took our starters out at the half. This year we're running it up.

Playing good competition makes you better... It's nice to have cross-town rivals as tough as you guys. Seems like it was fourth and goal in the Mustang red zone with under a minute left as were were trying to score and take the lead last year. We didn't convert, and your streak remains intact. You see, that's the good thing about our rivalry. We have nothing to lose. You're the ones that one day will have to watch a bunch of people dressed in red celebrating like they just won the Olympics. There will be kids in blue with their bottom lips stuck out.... clipboards will be thrown around on the Mustang sideline.... Somebody's going to dump the gatorade on Coach Stump... We're all going to want our picture taken with your mascot, etc.... You see, late on the night of November 2, it really won't matter if WOS gets another W. But if BC gets the win, you guys will be the chumps that let those kids from BC take one from you. I'm ready..... Are y'all? -

November 2nd. -
I was just asking if WOS was fielding a Pop Warner team or playing STJFL with a group of senior kids this year. Sheesh. No need to go all factual on me. We were sad that our kids didn't get a chance to play y'all in the STJFL in 2010, because we lost a tough game in the semis to y'all in 2009, and it looked like 2010 was going to be our year. Then y'all left the league to play what we thought was a soft competition in Pop Warner. My beliefs were confirmed when this report came out and indicates, like I thought, that Pop Warner is for sissy boys. Combine that with the fact that we went in to your house and put our feet up on your coffee table last fall, and I keep coming back to one thought... Who besides me is excited about some 8th grade WOS/BC football?

DCTF Under the lights 3a rankings
TheMissingBand replied to T-Dawd's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The Trojans should be very good again this as Coach Barbay does a tremendous job and the offseason program is probably one of the best in the State. We are deserving of the ranking at this point, but it is based off of last season. We will see how good we are early on as we face two of those top five teams and two in class 4A. I would love to see a matchup between Coldspring and WO-S in the playoffs again it should be another great matchup as I'm assured they are much improved and very strong again this year. Should be a great year in 3A. I think the field is wide open.
That'll happen in the first round, if y'all manage to win your district. Because WOS is coming in 2nd to BC this year, baby! B-I-G.... R-E-D... Biiiiiiiiiig Red! -
The bottom line is this. We were the STJFL Senior Super Bowl Champions in 2010, and y'all were sub sectional regional semi-finalists in division 2 of the Eastern half of Pop Warner Youth Football in the Southeastern Division of the Eastern United States. And then y'all came in second in your district in 7th grade football in 2011 to who? The Cards. So.... are y'all going to play in Pop Warner or the STJFL this year? It was either too hard over here or too hard over there. Which was it?
What is BC record vs Wos on the High School level??
Belongs in High School Football Forum. Lol. I'm just talking about how a group of WOS seniors fled BC and the STJFL in 2010 to play some agressive two-below in Pop Warner.

Who will be top dog in 21-3A this year?
TheMissingBand replied to monknuk's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
This is the year where we find out if BC has been winning based on a few athletes or the system. I'm hoping that this year will be the one that solidifies BC as a consistent top performer in 21-3A. -
Two years ago, WOS formed a team of senior-aged kids to play Pop Warner instead of STJFL. They wanted "to be able to advance further than just this area." Now my suspicions are confirmed... They were looking for a place to where tackling is frowned upon. The dregs of each city can form up as a Pop Warner team and prance about the gridiron on Saturdays when cartoons are over. The truf is out. WOS was scared of BC's senior team in 2010. I said it then, and I repeat it now. We chased them out of the STJFL and then took our championship. Not convinced? The same age group went at again last year in seventh grade. Result? BC hasn't lost a game in two years. Who's fired up about some eight grade BC-WOS in 2012 besides me?
-
I think he's talking about how WOS will be booby-blocking with the rest of Pop Warner this year. I'm wondering how many more kids will get hurt because of poor conditioning and limited hitting, other than on game days.... [Hidden Content] Also, Yoda was around "a long time ago, in a a galaxy far, far way." Correct yo self.
