Just a couple of things I noticed, it seemed as the Central players have to be mistake free, when they got a false start or one time it was a pass interference it was off the field that player came.  It's hard to play the game like that.  Looked like a lot of times Central was late getting play calls in and they were confused on where to line up.  I don't remember the number but one poor kid had his ankle taped up, hobbled out there to line up on 3rd and 12 and they throw a wr screen. He couldn't run, punt.  Defense was about the same, they were switching on the slot and wide outs several times right before the snap. Oh, when the QB brings his knee up for the snap, then he brings it up a second time and the left guard touches the center and he snaps it.  The same cadence every time.  That may be another reason PNG played a lot in your backfield.  #2 for PNG just has a nose for the football.  That young man seemed to be in every play.  PNG/Dayton should be a really good first round matchup.

Don't know if any Colleges are looking at him. He is small for linebacker but would be a great defensive back.

Yes, Bost is good enough to start on Varsity, but was kept down to get playing time because the upperclassmen are just as good. He'll be ready. He is a solid hitter.

Preston Riggs is receiver. Preston Hughes is the running back. Both are extremely fast. Hughes is more a cut and move guy. Riggs has the better hands.

All three are play makers. The kid they put at QB I don't think has played there, ever. It was an interesting decision, I'll say that. He is the starting slot I believe. He did the best he could. Even threw a TD pass. The Central JV is a good team. A lot of talent. It would have been nice to see our original team against theirs. Yes, Bost got pulled up for Vedrine and Rashawn for back up QB. Preston Hughes, running back, was pulled up for Runnels. A couple of games before LeBouf and English were pulled up for defense. That group of Sophomores is gonna produce some good defense.

Bost filling in for Vidrene on D. Not sure why they would need Johnson. Bost could be the back up QB and play D.

They pulled the RB to? They stripped the JV for usable parts. I'm sure this game meant alot to those boys.
    Guess that's how it goes.

Congrats to all these young men and their families! I can't claim to know every college player from SETX.  However, when I am watching football on Saturday and I find out a player for either team is from SETX I always pay close attention and pull for them to have a great game. Even if I am pulling for the other team to win I like to see the SETX players have a great individual performance.
I'm also glad to see Lamar recruiting and getting serious consideration/commits from local players.

I remember watching this group of PNG seniors come to Nederland as freshman and put a pop-knot on us to the tune of 50-something to 20-something and I remember thinking it was gonna be rough sledding for Ned for a few years especially when this group was seniors. Fast forward three years, those freshman never beat Nederland at the varsity level and I think a lot of that has to do with Larry Neumann tweaking positions as these kids became sophs, juniors, and even seniors. A lot can happen from soph-senior year...

I hope we learned our lesson on that, with the Ned game.

Bost has a better arm IMO, Rashawn is just one of those athletes that comes along every once in a while. He leaves people picking up their shorts when he runs. He is improving on his throwing ability. I have watched both of them since they were little because my son has played with them. They are both exceptional athletes. Bost is probably one of the best baseball players in the area. He started on varsity as lead off batter as a Freshman. Like I said, It is good to have a problem like that but I'd like to see both of them on offense. With Bost throwing and Rashawn catching and running along with a healthy Keynel next year would be fund to watch. Bost can run too, he just runs over you. Tough kid.

I am going to agree with this post on one hand and disagree with it on the other.
Yes, we should all be respectful of the coaches in this area, because all of them have paid their dues and earned the opportunity to lead their respective programs how they see fit. They were hired to do a job, and that job is to produce the best quality football teams they possibly can.
Now, with that being said, healthy, productive criticism is sometimes warranted and necessary. Coaches are not gods, they are not omnipotent and without faults. Sometimes they have their own agenda and do not make decisions that are in the best interest of the kids as a whole. When these times arise, I think it is our right as observers to point these issues out.
High School football is about the kids, the schools and the communities. Sometimes, coaches put their own agendas in front  of the best interest of the kids, schools and communities. Those coaches need to be exposed for what they are and this public forum is sometimes the best place to educate the masses on these issues.

By playoff time there are a few factors to consider. We have been banged up all year. Key players out in every game.  If we can remain healthy and win out we have a good chance. McZeal will be back and he is a significant threat to any defense. Plus some others will be back. The problem is we will probably be facing a team that is just like Nederland and WOS against us. Dayton seems to have our number. If Faircloth goes in using our strength, the passing game, I think we have a shot. If he over thinks and tries to get tricky, well 1 and done. If we face Crosby, it will have to complete mistake free and then some special luck. Not out of the realm of possibility.

PN-G is definately a tale of 2 teams.. Most of the season we have made mental mistakes and penalties, and along with the average coaching, it sometimes gets difficult.. WOS and Nederland did not show me we are out of the talk on winning games.. I did see a disparity in coaching.. That being said, I do think BFs best coaching job came against Manvel years back.. But he did have better assistants at the time.. If PN-G draws Crosby, it will more than likely be a blow out IMO. I have seen Crosby play personally, and team speed will be difficult to overcome.. I have not put the eye test on Dayton, however history says it will not be easy.. Im not quite sure PN-G has ever beaten a Dayton team.. But if we are able to play mistake free ball, get in a groove, and stay with what works, I do think it could get interesting.. There is still time to try and clean up the things that tend to hurt us.. Penalties are a discipline issue, as well as tackling.. Fundamentally, we can get better.. I do think first hings first.. Ozen can give us trouble because of the dual threat quarterback, and Central as well with Whaley. Neither of those games are gimmies.. I also think if  a motivated Vidor team gets a hold of you, things can be interesting.. Defensively I think we can stop Whaley. Although we have struggled with dual threat QBS throughout. (Boyd).. I would however love to see anyone in the district win a game.. I know we are down as a whole in the district, but I think Neauman can put together some type of plan to get into the 2nd round. Its all a guess at this point.. But I would'nt bet a penny on any of it......

Vidor ALWAYS plays Ned tough. BF usually stays in the game plan against Vidor. Don't know about Vidor's D backs. We should have the upper hand in that game. The Nederland game is never a good indicator for how the Indians play other teams. It's just different. All my Indian buddy's will tell you, the Indians that played in the 4th qtr against Ned are the ones we saw all year. The other 3 qtrs, not so much.

I think most of the NDN fans support the team more than ever. Heck, probably more because of the coaching. We are just tired of the same ole dog and pony show. See what I did there....And, contrary to popular believe, it is not just this game, although it ranks up there in the top. I have been lucky to be close to a lot of the players for the past 7 years because my kids have been going there and playing sports. The issues with BF run a lot deeper, not going to go there now. I have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt because he has really been learning the ropes with us as a head coach. He's set up a good system, I'll give him that. Well except a defensive philosophy. But there comes a point in time that you have to reflect and try to understand what is going on. Last night that reflection confirmed many peoples concerns, if they haven't been confirmed already. To air all that out here is probably not the best place or time. After the season maybe we can talk more. Right now, for the kids sake, we should focus on supporting them and pushing to finish the district without a loss. Then focus on Crosby, because that is where we probably will be heading. I for one do not want another 1 and done scenario
