PNG offensive linemen are huge!.. but Rose appears to be the only offensive threat.  Should be able to run behind that line.
It looks that way because the QB only acts like he's the only receiver on the field.  Not too hard to defend us when everyone in the stadium knows where the pass is going.  >:(
And Caleb Clark is nowhere to be seen on offense. I mean the kid has 4.37 speed in the 40 and just plays cornerback....I would want to get him the ball on offense, we've seen what he can do on a kick or punt return....

Brad,Brad,Brad, call a spade a spade! They don't hit in practice and they have not since Faircloth has been there. He likes to make High School practice look like it's college or the pros. These kids are still trying to learn how to tackle. You must hit in practice! Offense is fancy and all but you must be able to play defense. Faircloth has proven nothing! PNG will never again have as much talent as they had his first year. The first 2 years he was loaded with talent. You cant win without a defense. Anyone that has coached or know these kids know that a power running game would benefit this group more than anything else. They do not have the skill player's to run this offense. Good coaches have to adjust to his talent just ask Larry Neumann. Faircloth bases everything on speed, there is some really good football player's on the bench but their not as fast as others but they will knock the piss out of you! Faircloth is more of a political guy than he is a coach. H e says what the parents and board members wants to hear. His defensive scheme is horrible!
I don't know if I agree completely on the talent thing. Sophmores, Freshman and 8th grade has some premier players. Kenell from the eighth grade has potential to play on varsity next year, although I don't know if he will, because he is one of those once in along time players that goes thru a program. Ask any of the coaches in our district.

Congrats, Vidor  I still love my NDNS.

As far as Burnett goes it was his time to go. He had a good run as Head Coach but it was time for a change.

I also agree the tackling is horrible and they need to go back to basics. That one arm crap has got to go. Wrap him up and take em down.
Agree!!! And I might add swarm to the ball. Seems like there is alot of watching going on.

Congrats to the pirates, now go on further than you did last year!!!! :D

Ditto. 1st round matchup could be yall's toughest in the region till the finals. Looks like either SC or Dayton. Good Luck.
:o :o :o :o don't wish that on anyone. BH played Dayton a tough game tonight
  5.
I agree the tackling has been poor this year especially. And our boys lost to a very good Dayton team last year, not some 4th place chumps. And it was one heck of a game.
It was.....kept saying...."Why didn't he just pass to Hanks, we were marching down the field" and didn't want to leave too much time for that freak of nature kicker..... :o

Burnett is available...You liked him so much why havent either Vidor or Ned come a callin?

Facts are facts...Burnett teams went to the playoffs once every four seasons...BF teams have gone three outta four. I'll take the 3 outta 4 anyday.
Burnett also took PNG to the State Championship....how long has it been before & after?
If you knew anything about PNG in 1999 you would know that had more to do with the Longs than Burnett. Take those two seasons outta Burnetts record book at PNG and its sub .500! (Fact)
Gotta be honest here Badndn, Faircloth stepped into a perfect storm on the Reservation coming in. The talent he had was just coming in its own. That talent pool ended last year where we were one and done and I believe with that team last year we should have been at least three deep. I knew this team did not have the talent pool as well as most people in PNG, so I was not expecting much. But, I am sorry our defense has been bad for the last 4 years. I contribute it to poor training of the basics. It is evident on the field. The kids are talented enough to get to a kid in the back field they should wrap up and bring him down or hold on at least and get help. That has not happened. It is what it is. The Nederland game last week gave me hope because I saw that kind of tackling, but maybe it was just Midcounty madness. I am not pushing Burnett or have I ever mentioned him. I am talking about the current set of coaches. Fundementals are not being worked on as I see it.
Burnett had a lot of that talent on the sidelines his last year and he blammed his last 3-7 team on lack of talent publicly might I add. BF took that same "untalented" group and went 11-1.
Last years team was better than a one and done team, but It just so happened that with the stupid HS FB playoff rules the #2 team in 20-4A and #2 team in 19 4A met round 1. Gonna happen again this year. SC and Dayton will be playing Ned and Vidor in round 1 in some fashion. Meaning two very good teams will be going home, much like PNG last year (PNG defense was statistically ranked 2nd in 20 4A last year in ppg by the way).
Again I am not talking about Burnett. Have to admit our defense did better in district than predistrict last year, but that team was a special team and Dayton booted us early. But I am sorry I see it on the field. The tackling has been poor for awhile. Very evident this year.

I'm sure the starters will get sat, but can PNG  stop 2nd or 3rd stringers.... I guess you would rather see a running clock. Dude it's football and running the football is not by any means trying to run up the score... Make a tackle...
That's the problem!!! No tackling drills in practice. Basics are not there!!! It is killing us. Driving me crazy!! The prove is shown on the field. Yes our talent is down, but these kids are not that bad.

Will PNG make the playoffs this year?
Funny thing is that there is still an outside chance should we win out the rest of the games. Now here in the real world. Vidor next week....yikes!!! But, like they always say crazier things have happened ??? To be honest if we keep turning the ball over we just won't win...plain and simple....Again, I am for the Dogs to go the remainder of the way undefeated. If they do, does anyone know if they would go big school after district?
  10. Good Lord people, we got beat by the better team last night. Take away the mistakes, I still think we would have lost. Is what it is. What I witnessed last night was the 2012 Indians. Mistakes, and by mistakes I mean ave 3 turnovers a game, all year have made the scores worse. First time I have seen the snapping go to crap though. But, I think we did better last night than in most games. I hope we win another game, but doesn't look good. I will be there cheering them on though. I hope Nederland goes to State. If PN-G can't go I will be pushing for the Dogs all the way. As far as Summer Creek, I think the dogs can take them. Defensive front would do good against that running back.
  11. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but the home side of NDN stadium holds aorund 6,000 and the visitor side holds around 4,000, somebody correct me if I am wrong here. So if you take the people left in the pic on the home side and move them to the visitor side it would look ALOT fuller. Also, people who don't know the traffic issues at this game really need to get a clue. We are losing pretty good at this point, so alot of people who come for the band leave early to beat the traffic. If the game was closer, no one would leave, I promise. And BTW, PNG band IMHO dominated half time, just saying for who ever made that comment. Although I think Nederland's military style band did a GREAT job!  ;D

Varsity is a whole 'nother animal. Anyone who is not aware of this fact does not know high school football.
I know, I know. If this team can stay intact and come up thru the ranks together...we should field a good group in a couple of years.
Agree....and wait 'til Kenale as a Freshman on varsity next year shows up....kids a freak of nature!!! I know its the future and I haven't given up on our Varsity boys yet! Stranger things have happened..... ;) Good luck NDN's!!!!
  13. Ugh >:(.....Don't epect a win but if we can stop the turn overs and keep the ball on the ground to take up the clock, we could have a chance. Best case scenerio, Jags turnover more than us and we take advantage. I keep saying this team is not as bad as the scores, I hope they start to prove me right. We MUST play mistake free ball, period to have a chance to win.

Everyone knew this would be a down year for PNG. The talent just isn't their!!

PNG has a great core of talent beginning next year and the following 4 years.

Just need to continue to support the kids the rest of the year, there is still time to be a sleeper in this district.
Do you have an effective running game at your subvarsity levels?  Are there key defensive kids moving up to varsity next year?

From all games, info, I have it may be a few more lean years for PNG unless transfers come in.
Actually the freshman class coming up is pretty stout, not just the QB but they're loaded. The sophmores have some really good players. There is a running back on JV that is a sophmore that has dominated, also Ky Walker is a sophmore. I don't know how our juniors are. JV record is good. I don't know if they have lost yet. We have an eigth grader,Kenell, that has the potential and probably will play varsity next year and start. This kid is one of those rare kids that come thru. He is running JV speeds as a 8th grader. Plus that 8th grade team is crazy good....So this year and next year may be our drought.....or maybe just this year....we will see...but after that we will be big and more important fast....

On my way home from the game...smh.....gotta call out my fellow Indians in the stands beside me...ridiculous the way they were yelling at our offense when they came off the field to the bench. Way to support the team.
    .
Did you call them out in front of everyone?? If not, you're just as guilty.
My Husband and several others around us were shouting back. I always support the team, win or lose. I know everyone has obnoxious fans...but some are overboard crazy..and they seem to love sitting around me.
That is sad if that happened. I didn't go to the game but listened to it online. I would have called them out too....their just kids people.....
  16. Not to throw fuel on the Faircloth fire but here we go..... BF's system here is a good one. I like the way he set it up. When you dive into specifics is where I take issue. Defense wins games. We haven't had a good defense since Doty's junior year. That was Burnett's trained kids. WHen you focus mainly on offense and neglect defense things go bad. Our mechanics as tacklers are horrible. If you remember Doty's senior year we won basically by outscroing our opponents. Look at Willis. We even scored 40 something points on Manvel. They just scored more. Also, last year our defense was the same way and they had some good talent on that team. Look I know you have ups and downs, but the team we have now is not this bad. They fail on some basic things, ie wrapping up and gang tackle. Talent assessment has troubled me, too. Some players just seem out of position. Now I am not trained in this but some things are just so glaring you have to wonder. If you remember last year many posters on here talking about a player named Arvie. Many fans did not understand why he didn't play more. He had proven himelf over the years and he did get a little playing time. Bertrand was a stud, I know, but it just seemed that with both on the field the defense couldn't key on just one of them. I know his offense calls for something different, but in highschool you must adjust to the talent you have. Larry Nueman does this well. Again, I am an armchair coach here, but I don't come to this with just guessing, there are those on the inside that are not armchair that wonder the same thing. I have been hearing about AJ since he was in middle school and that he has the size and speed, but just not the coordination yet and was hoping that he would catch up with his body. He was put at quarterback and did not play his junior year except a few plays. To me that is not fair to him if you expect him to be your number one guy as a senior especially with this form of offense. Should have been down on JV getting experience. But then I see him at wide receiver and he seems a natural there. 6'5' receiver with speed is a good thing. Should have been there all along. If I see this, then you would think the professionals would see this. Again, I know we are in a down year but this isn't just about this year. I am still willing to give BF a chance because he has good ideas and maybe he will adjust some of his philosophy on the defense side.
  17. If our defense would get back to basics and wrap up!! I mean we make a hit in the back field and then let go....drives me crazy. Also, where is the gang tackling we used to do? ??? I think we have the talent but the tackling is horrible. It has been that way for 4 years now. Sorry blowing off steam.....A J came out of his shell this past week and looked very good. That catch he made was crazy. I think it depends on who tackles better but gotta go with my Indians
